(9:25 a.m. EDT) -- Royal Caribbean cruisers were able to experience the first glimpse of a completely overhauled private island experience when they arrived at Perfect Day at CocoCay (formerly CocoCay) in the Bahamas on Saturday, March 16.

The Oasis Lagoon, reportedly one of the largest freshwater pools in the Caribbean, opened to passengers onboard Mariner of the Seas this past weekend. The sprawling guest pool features a sloped entry for easy access and a swim-up bar.

Also open to passengers are the Chill Grill and Snack Shack concessions near the beach. Chill Grill is a Caribbean-style, open-air eatery featuring tacos and barbecue, a beer station and picnic table seating.

When complete, Perfect Day at CocoCay will feature other new amenities like an aquapark and play area featuring the "tallest waterslide in North America", hot air balloon rides, a zipline and a beach club.

Admissions will range from $39 for a half day at the Thrill Aquapark (depending on the season), to more than $1,500 for an all-day overwater cabana rental for eight.

Use of the Oasis Lagoon pool is free.

The grand opening of a transformed Perfect Day is still on schedule for May 4, 2019; Navigator of the Seas will be the first cruise ship to call when it does.

Some features on the island, including the overwater cabanas and beach club, are slated for completion in December.
