(2 p.m. GMT) -- Fred. Olsen River Cruise Lines has announced plans for its second season of river cruising with an expanded programme of 33 sailings on the Rhine, Danube, Main and Moselle and range of offers including no single supplements and free drinks packages.
The line entered the river cruise market in 2018 with a 156-passenger vessel chartered from Amadeus River Cruises and rebranded and renamed Brabant, in homage to a 1920's Fred. Olsen passenger ship of the same name and continuing the tradition for all ships' names to begin with the letter B.
Similar to the line's ocean cruises, along with regional specialities the restaurant features food geared towards British tastes and the onboard currency is pounds sterling.
The new season of cruises on Brabant will begin on April 4 with a five-night "Springtime Dutch Discovery" fly-cruise from Amsterdam. Other itineraries include the seven-night "Romantic Rhine & Moselle Marvels" and "Cruising the Rhine, Main & Moselle" sailings.
For bookings made by February 28 there is a free tips and dining drinks upgrade, which includes complimentary wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks served with lunch and dinner and included gratuities, on almost every 2019 cruise. For solo travellers, there is no single supplement on selected sailings booked during the same period.
Keith Norman, river sales manager at Fred. Olsen Cruises, said: "Brabant proved to be a fantastic addition to the Fred. Olsen fleet in 2018, allowing us to offer a completely different style of 'city break' holiday to a number of fascinating new destinations.
"We are now excited to begin another year of sensational river cruising along some of Europe's most picturesque waterways, to some of its finest towns and cities. Whether you want to explore Germany's many impressive castles and world-famous vineyards, take in the architectural delights of Rotterdam and Budapest or sample the vibrancy of cities such as Vienna or Strasbourg, there is a Brabant river cruise to suit everyone."
