(1:50 p.m. EST) -- Cruisers sailing on Virgin Voyages' first cruise ship, Scarlet Lady, will not need to budget for automatic gratuities as the line has revealed it will be gratuity-free.
"Because epic service should be the norm, gratuities are always included in Virgin Voyages pricing, which means no daily service charges and no automatic tip additions on extras like cocktails or spa treatments," a spokesperson for the line told Cruise Critic.
Virgin Voyages fares also will include all eateries, group fitness classes and basic beverages (soda, tea, still and sparkling water, standard coffee and some juice).
Cruisers are welcome to tip a crew member for excellent service if they feel it is deserved.
Scarlet Lady is scheduled to begin sailing from Miami in 2020. It will be adults-only (18 and older), and feature unique amenities such as vinyl turntables with in-room record collections in every cabin, and a "vitamin sea" concept, which focuses on passenger wellness, relaxation and fun. Public spaces will include a tattoo studio, outdoor fitness center and extensive spa facilities. Virgin Voyages recently revealed select Scarlet Lady itineraries will include an overnight port of call in Havana, Cuba.
