(12.30p.m. AEST) -- P&O Cruises announced another Tribute to the King theme cruise today to mark what would have been Elvis Presley's 84th birthday.
The cruise, which departs on 17 May 2020, will be P&O’s third Tribute to the King celebration at sea. It follows the success of last year's Elvis-themed cruise on Pacific Eden and this year’s sailing on Pacific Explorer from Sydney in May.
It joins the growing line up of P&O's short themed cruises which include Food & Wine, Comedy, State of Origin, 1980s, Country Music and the Melbourne Cup.
P&O Cruises President, Sture Myrmell, said it was entirely appropriate to announce the Elvis theme cruise on the King of Rock and Roll’s birthday.
“As we discovered with the first of the Tribute to the King cruises last year, the King’s unique showmanship and the power of his music are still alive and well more than 40 years after it was claimed he had left the building,” said Mr Myrmell.
While the cruise is not officially endorsed by or connected with the Elvis Presley Estate, passengers will still get to hear tunes ranging from the rock icon’s best-known hits to his favourite gospel songs.
The cruise is now on sale for die-hard fans who don’t want to miss out. Even better, the tribute cruise is currently being offered with P&O Cruises’ $1 deposit deal.
