MSC Cruises Cuts Steel for MSC Seashore, Named as First Seaside EVO-Class Cruise Ship

(9:50 a.m. EST) -- MSC Cruises named its first Seaside EVO-class ship MSC Seashore, and oversaw the vessel's steel cutting during a ceremony at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. MSC Seashore will be the first of two Seaside EVO ships; it is scheduled to enter service in spring 2021.

"With the Seaside Class, we introduced to the market one of the more innovative cruise ship prototypes all-around -- our fifth out of six to date -- thus setting a new industry standard for others to follow," MSC Cruises' executive chairman Pierfrancesco Vago said. "Today, only one year after MSC Seaside entered into service, we are taking this award-winning concept to the next level by starting the construction of a further evolved and even richer ship."

MSC Seashore will measure 169,400-gross registered tons, carry a maximum of 5,632 passengers and will feature 200 more cabins than the first two Seaside-class ships, with an expanded MSC Yacht Club covering three forward decks. Other new spaces will be an additional aft lounge, specialty restaurants on Deck 8 with space for alfresco dining and more hot tubs across the ship.

The Seaside EVO ships will also be equipped with the latest environmental technology, such as exhaust gas-cleaning equipment, the latest waste management and recycling systems, advanced water treatment systems and an advanced energy and heat recovery system.

The steel cutting for MSC Seashore marks the seventh ship to be built under MSC Cruises' 10-year development plan that will see 17 additional mega-ships added to the line. It will be the 19th ship the cruise line has built since 2003. MSC Seashore will be joined by a second Seaside EVO-class ship in fall 2022.
