This was our first cruise and it exceeded expectations. Boudicca was spick and span, cleanliness was a top priority, staff were friendly, the cabin was comfortable (but we spent little time there apart from sleeping) and the food was excellent. We used two organised tours which were very good but the rest of the time when we docked we "did it ourselves" with the help of the local tourist ...
the title says it all, really. It was our first cruise and, within a few days we were hooked. The food was good and varied. The crew were excellent .... always smiling, always polite and attentive, quick to learn our names and tastes. Hygiene was a priority. Antiseptic dispensers for your hands were situated at the gangway and at the entrance to the restaurants (with a crew member checking) as ...
We sailed from Newcastle on 2nd August on Boudicca on what was to be a wonderful experience exploring the Arctic.
Having sailed on Boudicca twice before, we knew that we would be happy with the ship and apart from the cabin being in much need of a refurb, we were not disappointed.
The crew on Boudicca are the most friendly we have ever encountered on our 30+ cruises and the food was ...
Check in was very efficient and our luggage was waiting for us outside the cabin on the Pacific Deck (Deck5). The cabin was spacious with a double bed dressing table and wardrobe two large windows. The bathroom had a shower which worked very well and was spotless with a supply of soaps and toiletries.
The ships Public Areas were in very good condition with lots of nice seating areas, however on ...
The 'base line' for our cruise around the British Isles was somewhat different to the final amount we paid. However, it fell within our budget and we booked accordingly. Had we not cruised before we might have thought that this trip on Discovery was up to the usual standards expected on cruises. However, we had cruised several times before and therefore noticed the places where standards fell ...
We chose the "North Cape and Land of the Midnight Sun" cruise, because it sailed from Hull which is convenient for us. However the ship had been filled, for the first night while we sailed to Newcastle where the majority of people boarded, with a One Night offer, basically Dinner,Bed and Breakfast and a one night cruise. We boarded and 1pm. and were offered a very basic buffet lunch. We were ...
Boudicca 7 night Norway Cruise
We chose this cruise because it departed from North Shields near Newcastle close to our house and because it was the ideal chance to try Fred Olsen (FO).
Embarkation.
We dropped the luggage outside the port departure building where it was whisked away to the ship where we found it in our cabin. Car parking was easy and managed well by FO staff. There were ...
We went on the Boudicca for a 12 day trip from Newcastle to Baltic ports, during September 2012. We booked last minute, direct with Fred Olsen, which was easy enough. However, when we later tried to get them to correct a misspelt surname, it turned out to be quite stressful. Firstly, I had to wait ages for them to answer the phone and then they wanted to charge me £100 to change 'ea' to 'ie' on ...
We have just returned from a wonderful cruise starting in Newcastle and going to the North Cape in Norway.
The first two days were at sea, allowing us to relax. We then called at the Loften Islands before going on to Honningsvag and the North Cape. Our return trip was on the 'inside passage' between the islands along the Norwegian coast to Bergen, before the final cruise back to Newcastle. ...
First timer's so should we stay close to home or go for it. We looked at booking the Hebridean Princess but for the same money we could visit places we had never seen; so we went for it.
North Wales to North Shields went better than we thought by car, well until we got to North Shields, then spent an hour or so going round in circles. Luckily we decided to stay the night so not a great problem ...
