Disappointing

Well, this was our 6th time on Explorer and probably the last one. We really liked the ship the first few times, then it was just an ease to start vacation within an hour of leaving our house. Also with little ones it was the best option for us to combine the benefits of cruising and ease of commuting to Cape Liberty from Brooklyn. We noticed many changes on this cruise from previous ones. First ...

Easter Week 2013 cruise

Our first cruise ever. Weather is not in RCL's control. Ship was comfortable in good and bad weather. Pool was fine, hot tub is fine. Windjammer food edible, repetitive. Dining room fare a step up. Portofino was enjoyable. We are not the types to heap loads of food on our plates nor make more than one go through the chow line. It was acceptable. Room was adequate although we found you can loose ...

Bayonne, Bahamas, and Back. Brrrrrr!

Cruised out of Bayonne to Port Canaveral, Nassau, Coco Cay and back. This was our first time on Royal Carribean. Departure at port Liberty was smooth. Our balcony room on deck 9 was typical. Storage was adequate and the bed firm, but comfortable. All staff were pleasant and accommodating throughout. The central atrium was impressive; we had never been on a ship this size before. We were ...

Well, we survived our first cruise on Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas. We had a good time. The ship was beautiful but is starting to show it's age. The food was good, it was not as good (to us) as some people told us it was. Return cruisers said the food was not the same quality or type that they received last year on this ship. Could have been due to a lot of kids wasting food, I don't ...

Decent trip to Bahamas

Overall: We had cruised a total of 7 times in the past, on Carnival, Celebrity, and larger ships of Royal Caribbean, including a trip on EOS in 2007, so we had a pretty good understanding of the mid-market cruise experience. I consider RCCL above average among all cruise lines and EOS right about average among all the RCCL ships. This trip didn't change my opinion. The promenade feature on many ...

We arrived at the port of Bayonne, NJ about 11:00. Our luggage was immediately taken and we were directed to the "suite" check-in., This is the first time we've had a junior suite and I was really looking forward to having the extra space. The port facility was damaged during Hurricane Sandy. The foundation and walls were fine because it is brick and cement but everything inside, gyproc walls and ...

Christmas Cruise was better than expected

We haven't cruised with Royal Caribbean before and expected that its quality was less than we were used to, and it was. However, for the price, it was better than we had expected. The entertainment was fine - very impressed with the orchestra and the dancers. The headliners were a bit weak, but the comedian was particularly funny. The Cruise Director, Leigh Xerbus, was funny as well. We had ...

My husband, his parents, and our two boys ages 14 and 16, headed out from Northern Indiana the day prior to the cruise. Our destination for the night was the Westin hotel in Jersey City, New Jersey, approx 20 min from the Cape Liberty (Bayonne New Jersey) departure port. We had never cruised from this location before, and being winter time were concerned about travel conditions. Unfortunately we ...

Where to begin... this is our 10th cruise, 7th with RCCL.. first time from Bayonne. Boarding was easy. We arrived early (11:00am) no line to speak of... no problems with security or check in. It was cold the first evening but there were still sailaway activities on board and going under the Verrazano bridge was really cool. The ship - a bit dated but clean. We had been on the Mariner and love ...

New Year's Eve Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

The embarkation and disembarkation was done perfectly without any wait time. Well done. The ship was probably sold out but we did not check with the captain on the number of passengers. The ship was always crowded no matter where we went. Dining room, promenade, buffet, any public area, it did feel like a holiday cruise, but somehow I wished it could be a little bit less crowded. The Promenade is ...
