We were on the Lucky cruise which left NY on August 23. We beat out rain and Hurricane Gustav. Embarking: The Spirit was late coming into port..we go there about 12:00 and were told we would not be able to board until 1:00...no biggie..every thing was orderly and what I expected...My 5th cruise...We were on board by about 1:30...Knew from this board to go to windows for lunch...NCL was directing ...

My husband and I were looking to experience our first cruise and researched each and every cruise line before we booked an Eastern Caribbean cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines on the Norwegian Spirit. Even though we read countless bad reviews about this cruise we booked anyways because we figured we would decide for ourselves. Let me tell you that it was worth every penny! Because we were ...

First-Time Cruisers vs. The Norwegian Spirit

LEADING UP TO THE 'BIG DAY' Neither I (a 33-year-old social services professional and mother of one) nor my significant other (a 29-year-old carpenter, professional 'child at heart' and father to my one) has ever before even contemplated the idea of 'cruising.' However, when our friends suggested it this past spring, our wheels began turning in the direction of the open seas. When, a few months ...

This was my 25th cruise and I have been on all the major lines except Princess. For the last four years I have cruised twice a year. My last few cruises were on the Queen Mary 2, Explorer of the Seas, Disney Wonder, Costa Magica, NCL Dawn & Spirit (one night). For this trip I sailed with my family: mother, father, and two sisters (one 23 and the other 15). They too have cruised over 20 ...

The review written by "huntingvly" pretty much describes our trip the following week! We left NY on August 9 with the same itinerary. We, too, traveled with a family group of 17. We were told ahead of time about the itinerary change, though, and we were given the option to cancel. The reason for the change was that one of the ship's engines wasn't operating at full capacity and it was going to ...

We were on the NCL Spirit's 6/28/08 cruise going to Puerto Rico, Tortola, and Samana. We are a family of four from Long Island, sailing on the Spirit for the second time; the first time was two years ago, which went to St. Thomas, Tortola, and Bermuda. We were disappointed that the Spirit had changed the itinerary from St. Thomas to San Juan, due to some mechanical problems. We wanted to take an ...

Embarkation was quick and easy. We were offered an escort to our cabin and made to feel at home very quickly. Our Balcony was very clean and although there wasn't tons of storage space like drawers, there was enough for myself and my daughter. Balcony was smaller than the average, but plenty of room for two chairs and a small table. Restaurants were great. We mostly at at the Garden and loved it. ...

Executive Summary Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. We let the menu of the day drive where we decided to eat for lunch and dinner. We had a room on deck 10 down the hall from the Kid's Club. Cabin space was fine with enough room for two adults and two kids --clothes and belongings. One pull down bed and one pull out bed which we only opened at night. Our room stewards (Wayne and Santos) ...

There were 14 of us that traveled to New York from Philadelphia by a limo bus. We arrived in less than 2 hrs. The porters and security were fast and easy. I was alittle worried after some of the reviews of the Spirit ( I've only been on RCCL), but I think they were either exaggerated or people just looking to complain. The freestyle seating was alittle frustrating to us the first night because we ...

We thought it would be a great idea to take a cruise as soon as my son got out of school for the summer. My family has been on 11 cruises between Carnival and Celebrity and we feel cruising is the best way to travel when we are not at Disney World. We would have loved to sail on our favorite cruise line, Celebrity, but they were not going to the Caribbean in June. I researched an itinerary that ...
