Great laid back cruise

This might be a little long, but it's in segments so you can skip a lot if you want. This was our 3rd time on NCL and my mothers 1st. We are 48, 51 and she is 75. We left on Thursday and stayed at Days Hotel for the free shuttle. Friday did the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Jersey side has smaller groups than the NY side. Saturday took a shuttle to Newark Airport to NY on Newark ...

Two weeks ago we had no idea we would be going on a cruise anywhere. A year ago around this time we went on RC's Vision of the Seas to Alaska where we fell in love with cruising. As a result, I'm on a lot of email lists. The magic email deal came in and we snapped at the bait. Next thing we knew, we were going to Canada and New England within the week. We flew to NYC at 7am the morning of the ...

NCL Spirit 6 Nights to Canada/NE

Background Information This was our fourth cruise on the Spirit and 6th on NCL so I think it's fair to say that we know her pretty well and, yes, we love NCL. We hadn't sailed on her, however, for about 2 years so we were curious to see what shape she's in these days. We were pleasantly surprised to find her in quite good shape, despite the less-than-enthusiastic reviews you might read ...

My sister and I have always taken escorted tours with Globus,CIE,e.t.c. So this time we elected to cruise. We chose the New England/Canada cruise with Norwegian Spirit and really looking forward to our first time cruising. Embarkation this was a nightmare as the ship was not ready for boarding. After 2hrs. we finally began to board but couldn't go to our rooms as they were not ready. We sat in the ...

This was our 8th cruise, first time with NCL. My husband and I are both in our early 50's. Our 26 year old daughter joined us. Our cruise was from New York City to Halifax Nova Scotia, St. John New Brunswick, Boston and Martha's Vineyard MA. We flew in from Nebraska to New York City one day early and stayed at the Marriott in Time Square..close to the pier. Took the NY city double ...

This is the third cruise for my wife and I. First NCL Dawn 7/06, Second RCL Explorer of the Seas 5/07 and now this one. We're mid 50's and traveled alone. We live in South Jersey so we were able to drive to the port. It worked out fine with one exception. There was a bicycle marathon going down 12th Ave where the port is and the old saying that "you can't get there from here" was appropriate. What ...

Just returned from the NCL Spirit. 6 night out of NYC. It was a nice cruise but nothing too memorable. Having this been my 24th cruise, I know what to expect and not what to expect on a cruise. We actually sailed without a cruise director and not much activity was provided. Embarkation in NYC went 15-20 minutes. Cabin was ready about 1:30. Nice cabin with limited amenities. Muster drill is somewhat ...

DW and I just returned from the Spirit Canada/ New England (10/14 - 10/20). We have been on the Spirit before, Aug 2006, so we knew the layout of the ship, which always helps. Embarkation. We arrived in NYC 9:30, and to the port around 10:30, the Bike Race made it hard to get to the port. We parked, gave the porter the luggage and was directed to the Latitude waiting area. We were in that area ...

I just returned from the New England cruise on Norwegian Spirit. It was a spur of the minute idea when a friend got e mail with an offer which seemed like a great price (it was) I booked and then began reading reviews of the ship which made me a little nervous. However, I am an optimist and decided I would still have a great time. Overall the cruise was good. The cabin was inside, no window, no ...

Just got back from our cruise, 10/7-10/13. I was a little skeptical after reading some of the previous reviews and posts on the message board. I was pleasantly surprised. The ship was very nice and kind of ornate due to the Asian influence. I live in NJ so I drove to the port and parked my car. Couldn't be easier. Embarkation took about 20 minutes and we were soon in Windows having lunch. It was a ...
