The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

Transatlantic to Portugal, Spain, France, & Italy
"Was hoping for at least three to two hours in one solid block in an 8-hour excursion for free time to see things that weren't on the tour, like the Spanish Steps or to take a break from the pace.In the last week of the cruise with shore excursions, passengers were requested to wear masks when coming into the theater prior to their excursion being called to disembark and to wear masks while on the shore excursion if on a bus...."Read More

Great Cruise Confusing Gratuities

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Gem

The cruise was great the food was great entertainment was awesome. Now the 20.00 a day gratuities was very strange. We were told the crew does not recieve the gratuities we were charged. We asked several of the servers they told us they only got what the contract stated. We went to the front desk filled out a form stating we would do our own gratuities and we did you have to hand them cash or they ...

TRANSATLANTIC MED - A Cruise in Two Parts

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Gem

This was my second time on the Gem. Despite the ship's fanbase, I'm still on the fence about it's allure. The floorplan is not always user friendly, and advances to the industry since its launch seem clumsily and sometimes illogically squeezed into the deckplans. Still, it has its charms, mostly found in its initmacy. Cabins on deck 4 are subject to being the exit / entrance level for some ...

Transatlantic/ Mediterranean back to back

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Gem

This was our 5th transatlantic and 1st back to back cruise. Things have improved in NYC terminal as far as organization of embarking passengers. We had a "balcony" cabin (somewhat smaller than what we have had in the past) which was fine. The food/bar and housecleaning/general staff went above and beyond and are second to none. Problems we encountered was with guest services and administration. ...

Planning on a vacation for more than two years, roommate wanted to go on a transatlantic cruise instead of Caribbean to knock things off her bucket list. Was in a Club Balcony Suite, which was nice but lacking in power or USB ports near the bed. Leaving NYC was easy, but after three or four days at sea, the Atlantic Ocean in April can be a little rough, so 15-20 ft seas and 40-50 kt winds can ...

This was one of our best vacations ever. My wife and I have cruised before, but it was the first time for our daughter. She is 10 years old, and after countless and I mean countless trips to Disney we need a Mickey break. So we booked The Norwegian Gem, we got a fantastic price and my wife hates to fly. So leaving out of New York is easy because we live in South Jersey. Embarkation was so easy, ...

10 day NCL Gem review out of NY to S. Carribean

Just arrived back from 10 day trip on Gem out of NY to southern Caribbean (5 ports). NCL does this cruise 4 times a year. Right up front I will say our last cruise was on Princess and received last minute free upgrade to mini-suite, so hard to compare with inside cabin on this trip. This trip was educational conference so wanted to try and stay within budget with inside cabin, now regret ...

- Check-in very good after we figured out there was a separate area for 'suite' check-in. Wouldn't have enjoyed the long lines we began with. - Cabin...kind-of new bordello in appearance, but cute too..spacious and good bathroom. - 'Butler'...a joke. Had to run to restaurant most of the time to get milk for coffee and usually had to keep asking for the coffee for the coffee maker. I think the ...

Happy, shiny people!

My husband frequently says that happiness is who you're with. If he's right, and I think he is, then the NCL Gem is a place that should make most people happy. My reference point for gauging any vacation is that I have never been anywhere that's perfect. I'm holding out that rating for Heaven. Every trip I've ever taken has a few bumps along the way. The real test of whether it's a good ...
