The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

After Covid, we were happy to start cruising again, but...
"Typos like “There are few venues on the ship where you can relax during the day…” brought a chuckle to us because we actually were on the go-go-go some of the time.Thomas On this day, my wife wasn’t feeling well and so neither of us left the ship that day, nor participated in any activities...."Read More

Background We are a couple in our early 70’s who have been on about seven cruises, most with Norwegian, but also with Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. We had a balcony cabin, Deck 9 midships on the starboard side. We traveled with another couple, also seasoned cruisers. This sailing elevated us to Latitudes Gold status with Norwegian. We secured what we thought was an excellent ...

This cruise had a great itinerary that started by leaving from NYC (no flying for us) and doing some really good ports including Turks & Caicos, the Dominican Republic, Curacao, Costa Rica, and a full transit of the Panama Canal. Then I learned from CruiseCritic (not from NCL!!) that Grand Turk and Curacao were replaced by Bermuda (which we missed anyway, due to weather conditions) and Catalina ...

About the Reviewer: I’m a middle-aged American male who traveled solo this trip. This was my 31st Norwegian Cruise Line voyage and my 55th cruise overall. I have sailed primarily on NCL with a handful of cruises with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, MSC and Carnival. This was my eighth cruise back after the pandemic restart and my fourth back with Norwegian Cruise Line. My previous cruise was on the ...

Underwhelming, generic institutional food, and poor planning at ports.

Embarkation: No problems in Manhattan, took the train to manhattan, and $20 for a cab to the port. One of the fastest initial embarkations i've ever had... I say initial, because at Port Canaveral, all passengers were required to disembark and sit in a waiting area for several hours with nothing to do, especially if you had a late morning excursion. With hours of mindless waiting (in a Royal ...

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Gem

I will start this review with the caveat that we booked this cruise very late in the game and would not have booked the cabins we booked if others were available. CONCLUSION: We were 38 hours delayed leaving. This was not NCL fault but left 1/3rd of the ship disgruntled and you could feel that vibe throughout the trip. Having said this, after 11 days I understand why Royal Caribbean did not ...

We chose this cruise for the holidays as a family of 8 and for the itinary. Gem is a smaller ship and was ill equiped for a Xmas- NYE+ cruise. We never left the port of Manhattan for 2 days , one for "high waves" and the other because the NY Port Auth. said we couldn't. ( not sure that was true but I degress). The ship was cold in NY, The heat was not up to the task. It was bitter ...

We took a 11 day christmas cruise from ny, because of weather we were stuck in ny for two days before departing. No fault of ncl. Captain wasn't making any announcements concerning departure leaving us all wondering ????? I purchased the unlimited wifi for 240 dollars ?? It was the worst wifi i have ever experienced. Ncl charges the most than any other cruise line & delivers the least !!! Shameful ...

Nice trip but I---- Will NOT go out of NY in Feb due to the Unruly teenagers The Ship (Gem) got into NY late, so embarkation was delayed. Perhaps a text would have help .I wouldn’t have gone to the pear to stand in line for 2+hr! Cleanliness was great but ship’s layout and design was hard for me to navigate, had to go down floors to get to the elevators to go to the thermal suite. In the front of ...

Writing as europeans, that was our weakest cruise yet. 1) From a touristic point of view, there is absolutely not one single highland during the whole cruise. We first did not understand why Norwegian distributed bath towels on the different jetties. Well,.....because there is just beach and sun. Of course you shouldn't fly over from Europe to go to the beach. Better stay in the Mediterranian ...

NCL Gem Review 3/6/2020 through 3/16/2020 Sorry, this is a long one. I almost did not write it. I mean with so many more serious things on our minds lately. But then I thought, this cruise was exceptional and maybe people need to hear that. 4 Adults in the Garden Villa Suite 14000. Both my husband and I are platinum plus latitude members. We had booked an H3 months prior but once ...
