Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

New York to Bahamas

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

My husband and I, along with another couple, just returned from the New York to Bahamas cruise on NCL. This was our 5th cruise on NCL and our 2nd to the Bahamas. Overall, I thought the cruise was very nice and relaxing. Contrary to many of the reviews I have read, we thought the food was very good considering the price of the cruise. The only specialty restaurant we visited was the steak ...

A most enjoyable cruise. Staff gave us excellent service. Cabin was most comfortable. The food - the buffet was my choice because I am mainly vegetarian. There was ample choice of vegetables in the buffet and the food was hot. However on sea days the buffet was crowded. The free dining rooms - the food was good, but not great vegetarian selection with very small portions and the service was slow, ...

NCL Jewel to Bahamas 3/17/13

I just returned today from a 7 day cruise on the Jewel. The reviews I read here in advance were of so much help that I thought I would write my own comprehensive review in hopes that it may be of help to future travelers, particularly those with children, as it was myself, my husband and our 6 year old daughter on this trip. Just a little bit about us so you know where I am coming from with my ...

Bahamian Trip with family

My family and I were on the NCL Jewel round trip sailing from NYC to Bahamas. This was our second cruise with the line and on the Jewel, and like many other passengers we were excited to be there. Embarkation was smooth as expected, our balcony cabin was ready, clean and on time, but we did have some problems. We were missing beach towels in our cabin, there were 4 of us in the cabin and 1 ...

Rocking Cruise to Nowhere

Review for a Cruise to Nowhere Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

What a blast, rocking on the Norwegian Jewel's cruise to nowhere. Embarkation was a breeze, we got to the terminal about 11, paid $70 for 2-night parking, had priority check-in, got group #5, and we boarded and were eating lunch at the buffet by 12:15! Dining: Speaking of buffets, I read all the previous negative reviews, and I just don't get it. You must be a really picky eater if you ...

We joined a group of 42 others on this cruise. We travelled to NYC by tour bus, and were directed to a parking space outside the Terminal. Our luggage was removed from under the bus, and we were informed that the charge/tip would be $2 a person. Not a bad price, and the luggage was next seen in our cabins. As latitudes members, my husband and I were ushered into the "special" line for ...

A Wonderful Winter Getaway

I traveled with my husband. We are mid-50's and this was my 5th NCL cruise, his 4th, and our 15th overall. We are fans of freestyle cruising. This was a 12-day, our longest cruise to date. We arrived at the Manhattan pier at about 10:45 am, after a very easy Sunday morning drive. The car service from CT dropped us off at street level where a porter took our bags, and we rode up in the freight ...

This was my 13th cruise but my first time on NCL. I found the Jewel to be gaudy and not up to the aesthetics of other ships I had sailed. I also found it to be crowded. I attribute this to Norwegian's free style cruising. It seems everyone on ship tries to do the same thing at the same place at the same time. In traditional early/late seating only half the passengers do the same thing at the same ...

Overall nice ship and the activities/entertainment were decent but the weather was awful. Embarkation: Not so smooth, very disorganized with no clear direction of where to go or what we were doing. The address provided brought us too far down so we had to walk several blocks back and them try to figure out where to go. The wait wasn't too bad but we felt a couple signs would have made it much ...

Great trip on a rough sea

First I must confess that our experience on this trip was made much better by our gradual change from being inside cabin cruisers to the Suite Life. So, take my review with a grain of salt knowing that the Suite perks on NCL are amazing. We plan ahead to afford a Penthouse Suite for these perks and would highly recommend them. Had we been in an inside cabin we would have spent a great deal ...
