Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

The Friends & Family Annual Winter Caribbean Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We recently returned from 12 days on the NCL "Jewel". This was our "Friends and Family Annual Winter Caribbean Cruise". There were 24 of us. I have orchestrated the winter cruise for more than 25 years, now and we have been anywhere from 14 to 43 of us. Embarkation was a breeze! From getting off of our charter party bus that brought us to the pier to being on the ship, it was maybe 8-10 ...

We drove to NYC on February 1st. For those looking to drive and not pay the outrageous port fees, we stayed at the Wyndham Garden in Newark, New Jersey. We chose the "stay & fly" package which was $155+tax and included 14 days FREE parking.... that's right, completely FREE! To get to Manhattan, we took the hotels free shuttle service to the airport, then took the NJ transit train into Penn station ...

NCL Hits a New Low

NCL has ever been our favorite cruise line but this time they have hit a new low. This was our third cruise on NCL and each one has gone down hill. We have booked them for the convenience of cruising out of New York and the deals we have been able to find. While NCL has a loyal following, I put them at the very bottom of my list. They do have some excellent entertainment but everything else ...

We sailed with NCL on Norwegian Jewel Jan 6 2013 to Jan 18 2013, and the following were some of our issues, observations and problems. Food. The food was far too salty, the Chimichuri on the steak on night 1 had to be scraped off it was that salty and would have rendered the steak inedible. Dessert was our only refuge from the salt. The Chinese restaurant also served its' food too salty, as did ...

Well, where do I begin...?? Let me just say everything was PERFECT and extremely relaxing,....we chose not to do any excursions this time around...We were better off not doing them...I ended up coming down with a Chronic Sinus infection that began on Day 3...first day of our first port in Old San Juan, PR. So we just walked around the town for a short while...then went back to the ship to ...

We joined a group of 42 others on this cruise. We travelled to NYC by tour bus, and were directed to a parking space outside the Terminal. Our luggage was removed from under the bus, and we were informed that the charge/tip would be $2 a person. Not a bad price, and the luggage was next seen in our cabins. As latitudes members, my husband and I were ushered into the "special" line for ...

Although the Gem is still my favorite the Jewel gives it stiff competition. We had sailed on the Jewel in the past and found the ship to be in great shape. We arrived at the pier around 3:00 so there was no line, we went right to our cabin then headed up on deck for the sailaway. The weather was a little cold and allot windy, but the photo ops were fantastic. We had about 100 people at our ...

A Wonderful Winter Getaway

I traveled with my husband. We are mid-50's and this was my 5th NCL cruise, his 4th, and our 15th overall. We are fans of freestyle cruising. This was a 12-day, our longest cruise to date. We arrived at the Manhattan pier at about 10:45 am, after a very easy Sunday morning drive. The car service from CT dropped us off at street level where a porter took our bags, and we rode up in the freight ...

This was my 13th cruise but my first time on NCL. I found the Jewel to be gaudy and not up to the aesthetics of other ships I had sailed. I also found it to be crowded. I attribute this to Norwegian's free style cruising. It seems everyone on ship tries to do the same thing at the same place at the same time. In traditional early/late seating only half the passengers do the same thing at the same ...

Cruising has changed?

My daughter & I cruised in May, the Jewel (NCL) . The staff was great and attentive. The food in the dining room was below expectations...first time I ever could not decide which entree looked the best...usually I cannot decide because everything looked good. Two of the evenings I didn,t eat my meal...meat tough, food starchy. Think a nice sandwich would have been better. The pool area ...
