1-10 of 383 New York (Manhattan) to the USA Norwegian Gem Cruise Reviews
The cruise was great the food was great entertainment was awesome. Now the 20.00 a day gratuities was very strange. We were told the crew does not recieve the gratuities we were charged. We asked several of the servers they told us they only got what the contract stated. We went to the front desk filled out a form stating we would do our own gratuities and we did you have to hand them cash or they ...
We chose this Caribbean cruise as it sailed from New York and we wanted to spend 3 days before joining the ship. Also the drinks package and speciality dinning for 2 nights was a factor.
First the good points: The staff are super friendly and we had good service on the whole. Cagneys and Moderna speciality restaurants were superb. The complimenary Asian restaurant was also very good.
Our ...
11 nights sailing the Eastern Caribbean on the Norwegian Gem was my very first cruise experience. I kept my expectations low, but I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously, I have some pros and cons as a first-time cruiser so let's start with the embarkation experience from the NYC port.
Embarkation:
NCL should list the pier number for NYC embarking cruise ships in advance. When I called ...
We have been cruising for 20 years and thought we would give this ship a try
Yet again Grand Turk was cancelled about 3 months before sailing and Bermuda was replaced
We had been to most of the places on our itinerary but thought oh well let’s go !!
The ship is nice even though there are a few thousand people on there quite a few places to hide and keep yourselves to yourself
The ...
Chose this cruise at last minute because it departed and returned from New York City, no fly for us. Needed a respite from winter. And price was right. This was our first NCL cruise since an ill fated cruise on the NCL Star which blew an engine, modified our itinerary and we received no consideration for ruining our once in a lifetime Southeast Asia cruise.
Boarding was easy, no wait. ...
About the Reviewer: I’m a middle-aged American male who traveled solo this trip. This was my 31st Norwegian Cruise Line voyage and my 55th cruise overall. I have sailed primarily on NCL with a handful of cruises with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, MSC and Carnival. This was my eighth cruise back after the pandemic restart and my fourth back with Norwegian Cruise Line. My previous cruise was on the ...
Planning on a vacation for more than two years, roommate wanted to go on a transatlantic cruise instead of Caribbean to knock things off her bucket list. Was in a Club Balcony Suite, which was nice but lacking in power or USB ports near the bed.
Leaving NYC was easy, but after three or four days at sea, the Atlantic Ocean in April can be a little rough, so 15-20 ft seas and 40-50 kt winds can ...
We decided to book a cruise late minute and found 5 day NCL Gem to Bermuda. Despite of the stress in dealing with the Bermuda travel authority we boarded the ship as normal. We expected a long process to board being our first cruise since the restart but it was quick. The Gem is a smaller ship so everything was close and convenient. The live bands were great especially Natural Mystic in the Magnum ...
I was very reluctant to cruise considering the ongoing pandemic. When I got the invitation from NCL that they are now open for sailing, I was reluctant for my health and the probability of being exposed to Covid.
I am a NCL Latitude Member.I have sailed on several occasions to different places, not to mention, in different Norwegian cruise ships. The one factor that convinced me to go ,was my ...
Sailing in a time of Covid is risky and requires patience, open mindedness and a sense of humor. Ports come and go, the weather is throwing curves and you have to just lay back and go with the flow.
The ship sailed with about 25% of normal passenger load. (for some reason on the sea days you still cannot get a chair poolside). There are more crew than cruizers, and the dining rooms are ...
