We have cruised on other lines before, and this was our first experience on NCL. We are now huge fans! First of all, I loved the Gem - the ship is perfectly sized for me. It was easy to get around, and there were lots of areas to sit and hang out with a book and a drink. My favorite was the Spinnaker Lounge early in the morning with a book and a cup of coffee (you can get coffee right around the ...
This was our first cruise and we booked it sort of at the last minute because it was cheap and some friends were going. We were told it was a weird itinerary - NYC to Bermuda, just a half day in Bermuda, then on to Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay and a long day in Port Canaveral (7 am to 1 am). We were also told it would be cold in Bermuda and the seas would be rough in January. But everything turned ...
The start of our cruise was extremely easy. We all tested at the pier which was well organized. Only about 30 people in a group. Once your test is negative you get to check in for your cruise. Took about 1hour for everything. No more Muster drill. You have to watch a video and once on board you fine your muster station and they sign you off. Very easy.
The ship was only at 730 capacity. We ...
This was the third time our Caribbean cruise was rescheduled due to two years of COVID cancelations. We arrived with negative COVID tests and took another rapid one on day of departure. We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. 5 of us were first time cruisers. The staff were incredible. Kudos to Ivan, Egy, Farrot, & Nythin to mention a few but the biggest surprise was the fantastic band Sonata. They ...
NCL Gem Review 3/6/2020 through 3/16/2020
Sorry, this is a long one.
I almost did not write it. I mean with so many more serious things on our minds lately. But then I thought, this cruise was exceptional and maybe people need to hear that.

Both my husband and I are platinum plus latitude members.
We had booked an H3 months prior but once ...
The Norwegian Gem was a wonderful ship to get away from the winter blahs in Ohio. We traveled to plenty of warm sunshiny ports with great people and great weather. The ship is small which I like. I meet numerous people and saw them several times throughout the cruise and we would talk like lifetime friends. Everyone was happy and worked their butts off to serve you and make the cruise the best ...
Wow. First time on the Gem. I was impressed by how attentive the entire staff was. From the executive officers (who were ALWAYS approachable) all the way down the line, everyone made us feel welcomed.
The Cruise Director (and staff) were fun, funny and totally involved with the passengers.
The stage shows were excellent. We went to Blazing Boots and Get Down Tonight, both were high energy ...
Just returned on Friday. The ship is the perfect size. We had very smooth seas. The specialty restaurants were hit or miss. First time to Cagney it was extremely crowded but service was good. Next visit we waited over an hour for entree. We cancelled our third visit. LeBistro was always good. Husband had Escargot . Said it was delicious. I favor their lamb chops. Moderno was good and salad bar ...
Our trip was fabulous. We love Norwegian. We prefer the mid size ships of about 2000 people. The elevators are never crowded and the garden cafe is smaller. We got lost so many times in the garden cafe on the Escape and the Breakaway. We also love to sit in the Spinnaker lounge and the bigger ships don’t have this large beautiful view at the top of the ship. It was sorely missed on the ...
We did the holiday cruise out of New York from 21 December to January 4. The ship is beautiful and very clean. All the staff were really friendly. The entertainment was quite good, the cruise director, Luz was fantastic. We mainly dined in the main dining raoom, we found the food to be really tasty and good. We had the unlimited beverage package and the bar staff know how to make good cocktails :) ...
