The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

Nothing too bad, but rather dull ship and itinerary

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Gem

The cruise to Canada and New England was considered a "distinctive voyage". It was okay, but there are a lot of caveats. It's not like Norwegian had anything disastrous happen on this cruise (and I hate people who complain excessively about vacation), it's just that it was... well, a boring itinerary and a boring ship. Additionally, it's important to know that the Canada cruises skew a lot older ...

I recently took a cruise on NCL Gem, this was our 5th cruise with NCL and 38th cruise overall. This was their New England/Canada cruise dated Sept 8th. No complains regarding the "actual crew" however there were several incidents that I can only blame on their supervisors. 1) The library was only open for a minimal amount of time twice daily. This did not allowed those passengers on tours to ...

First off, this was our first cruise on NCL and we enjoyed it very much. Many things felt much more relaxed than recent experiences on RCCL. The ship was mid-size by current standards, and it felt about right to us. There are some onboard activities, but with only two at-sea days, you did not need a lot of things onboard. We flew into Montreal, where we did our own 3-night pre-cruise visit. We ...

So first off, I’m the guy that brought the bike. I boarded the ship in New York on January 02nd and got off the ship February 15th 2019 in New York. This was my escape from wither in the north east and chance to explore several new ports that I had not been to before and after this 44 day voyage I enjoyed this ship and it’s staff very much. I had a great and memorable experience from really ...

Too small, too cheaply done, terrible, terrible!

This ship went to the towns that I wanted to visit and ended up in Quebec City, Canada, which was important to me. The rooms were itty-bitty. The bath had doors to toilet, etc. but no more than 1/2 of a person could fit in there at a time and I am not a large person. I could only raise my arms to shampoo my hair if I turned on a diagonal. The food was terrible and served over and over. ...

We’ve done several NCL cruises..Gem, Jade and Jewel. I love the crew. They are very nice, cheerful and helpful. Favorite times include the amazing entertainment, the outer deck delicious barbecues, the fabulous experiences in the specialty restaurants and those cute, fun towel animals. I could go on and on but the crew deserves the credit. They are the best of the best at sea. Our family ...

My husband and I had not taken a cruise in a while and wanted to cruise in a different direction than before and took a chance on NCL Gem this June 2018. The Gem is a very nice ship. I found out that it was recently refurbished. The Gem was ealhoto get a around. The amenities were great. The entire staff that we encountered were 2nd to none. Every where we went they were willing and ready ...

Second time on boat, definite decline since first time!

We chose this cruise because there were 12 people in my family (with 2 elderly parents) who wanted a vacation without flying or driving 10+ hours. My husband and I were on the same ship, same itinerary three years ago. We found this ship not well organized at all. To inquire about specialty restaurants, no one answered the phone. You had to stand in line for ONE staff person to service 2000+ ...

My husband and I are in our 40's and cruise a lot. We have cruised Princess (which is our favorite), Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Azamara and have been on the Norwegian Getaway twice. We go to the Caribbean a lot and this was a nice change. Overall, I thought this was a great cruise. I am surprised at some of the poor reviews. We just go and try to enjoy the fact that we can ...

The Gem did not disappoint us.

Of all the NCL ships we cruised on, The Norweign Pearl is our favorite. So we had high hopes for the Gem and it did not disappoint. We arrived at the New York Cruise Pier early and my son and I explored the USS Intrepid (which is right next door). Around noon is when we got in line to embark, which went as smoothly as any other embarkation. As usual, the Garden Cafe was crowded for lunch but we ...
