The cruise to Canada and New England was considered a "distinctive voyage". It was okay, but there are a lot of caveats. I recently took a cruise on NCL Gem, this was our 5th cruise with NCL and 38th cruise overall. This was their New England/Canada cruise dated Sept 8th.
No complains regarding the "actual crew" however there were several incidents that I can only blame on their supervisors.

First off, this was our first cruise on NCL and we enjoyed it very much. Many things felt much more relaxed than recent experiences on RCCL. The ship was mid-size by current standards, and it felt about right to us. There are some onboard activities, but with only two at-sea days, you did not need a lot of things onboard.

This ship went to the towns that I wanted to visit and ended up in Quebec City, Canada, which was important to me.
The rooms were itty-bitty. The bath had doors to toilet, etc. but no more than 1/2 of a person could fit in there at a time and I am not a large person. I could only raise my arms to shampoo my hair if I turned on a diagonal. The food was terrible and served over and over. ...

We’ve done several NCL cruises..Gem, Jade and Jewel. I love the crew. They are very nice, cheerful and helpful. Favorite times include the amazing entertainment, the outer deck delicious barbecues, the fabulous experiences in the specialty restaurants and those cute, fun towel animals.
