My experience with NCL on the Norwegian Gem.
To give you a little background on the people involved, my wife and I are both in the 30-35 year old bracket, full time working professional people. We are in no way formal and generally enjoy a casual atmosphere; more 'jeans and t-shirt' than 'where's my tux?'.
We've cruised three times previously, always with Royal Caribbean. We've been to the ...
My fiance, Blakely Newbold, and I, William Jamieson, took a cruise with Norwegian on the Gem from March 11 - March 18th. We are to be married next month on April 28, 2012, and therefore this was our Honeymoon as we do not have additional funds for a 2nd vacation this year.
I have cruised only once before, and that was with Carnival on the Miracle. Blakely has never before had the pleasure of a ...
Norwegian Gem... Washy Washy does not make you Happy Happy...
Just returned from a 7 day cruise from NYC-Port Canaveral, Fl, Great Stirrup Cay Bahamas, and Nassau Paradise Island, Bahamas. We chose this cruise from NYC because we live here and didn't want to incur the flight charges to leave from Florida. This particular cruise line nickel and dimes you for every little thing, while giving you ...
My fiancee and I booked a week long cruise on the NCL Gem to Bermuda in June for the 2nd week of September. We had sailed on the NCL Majesty to Bermuda in 2009 and were pleased with the experience. We were so excited but little did we know what we were in for.
We both were aware that it was hurricane season in September, and were saddened to find out that we were not going to Bermuda, but we ...
This was our first NCL cruise, we have previously sailed with Cunard.
First the departure was delayed, and the itinerary changed. Embarkation was delayed too, so some people sat in the terminal for 8 hours waiting. To compensate they provided the nastiest hot-dogs and sandwiches you have ever seen.
Itinerary
The itinerary change meant a sea day instead of the day at Great ...
We received cruise as gift from Mom so I would be more MAD if I had to pay for this crap...
EMBARKATION
Got ride into NYC pier from family member... if you wanted to leave car at pier could cost $30 a day...Being Latitude members, the line was relatively short and embarkation a painless process...
BOAT
As soon as you enter the boat there is somebody there already trying to sell ...
Don't go on this ship. It was the most boring way to spend my vacation, ever. I regret everything about choosing this ship.
While the ship was pretty, unfortunately all the services were terrible, and there were almost no activities to do. The "mandatory safety review" was pathetic, and if something did happen to us while at sea, I'm sure everybody, evidently untrained staff included, would ...

The cruise I recently took on the Norwegian Gem is by far and away the worst vacation I have ever taken in my life. The food and the entertainment were a complete and total embarrassment. It seems that every way Norwegian could cut corners they did. I'll start with the food. All of the food that NCL includes with the price of the cruise is terrible. It's not even as good as Mc Donalds or TGI ...
We sailed on Dec. 19. The cruise was to celebrate my Mother's 87th birthday. We were so glad when it was over. I've been on many cruises. This was horrible. First let me say the food was ATROCIOUS! It was overcooked, over seasoned, over sauced or otherwise tasteless. Even the deserts were bland. I enjoyed one creme brulee. I am not picky but expect well prepared food on a cruise.
If anyone from ...
