Poor Deck Plan for Entertainment- Reduced Port Time

We had booked the TA from New York to Civitavecchia for both 2020 and 2021. Of course, COVID interrupted those plans, so we were finally able to cruise in 2023. The crew, entertainment and food all delivered as did the itinerary. However, the design of the ship left a lot to be desired. While the Boardwalk and Dining Venues were terrific, the Atrium was overused every day for live music, games ...

Third Time on Breakaway… again a Great experience!

Went on my first transatlantic cruise last year on Island Princess. Loved the stops, hated the ship, and it’s pretty much non-existent entertainment. Knowing that NCL doesn’t skimp on entertainment, decided to give it a try. Happy to report, Breakaway did not disappoint! So much to do on this ship! The musical Six, Burn the Floor, Multi-Instrumentalist, OceanFest, Vocalist, Magician in the main ...

First NCL cruise; I was a little disappointed

I just took my first NCL cruise, April 20 to May 6 Breakaway transatlantic and was a little disappointed when comparing it to Princess or Celebrity. I took a transatlantic on each of them last year, and they were overall just much better. BUT, before I get into things I didn't like, I'll describe what I did like. 1. I paid a low price with no single supplement. It was the same on Princess and ...

Embarkation: Staff in NYC were friendly and efficient. We were in our room on the ship at 11AM (although the ship had been empty for 3 days). Getting off: No information available on transport to city, to train station or to airport--unless booked through Norwegian. There is a “SitBus” that runs from terminal to Rome, but we couldn’t find out where to find it. There is a Port to train ...

This cruise from NYC to Rome was quite interesting. Some good, but far to many missteps by NCL. This was a 16 day cruise from NYC to Rome. The Good. The entertainment was first rate. "Burn the Floor" and "Six" were both professional presented and satisfying to watch. The various bands around the ship were good. The Syd Norman show was excellent. The combined ship band concert in the ...

Very disappointed in ship and ports

Booked a transatlantic fm NYC to Rome. The ship (Breakaway) is in need to major cleaning and updating. Food in complimentary restaurants, while plentiful, is bland and not usually very hot. Specialty restaurants a little better, but meals can take up to 3 hrs to complete. Even specialty menus are limited and not enticing. Onboard entertainment mediocre, don’t expect broadway quality talent. ...

Great transatlantic cruise

We chose this cruise because of the convenience of embarking from NYC, visiting fantastic European ports and being well within our budget. Crossing the Atlantic was not as rough as we expected because when we crossed in 2015, we had to hold the railings as we walked. Probably because we wore those patches for dizziness no one got seasick in my group. The entertainment on the NCL Breakaway was ...

DO NOT recommend this cruise line, neither this breakaway ship! It really broke our vacations from day one! We were traveling with my senior, handicapped 82 years old mother. The flight was included and it was a 7:00AM!!! We needed to be a the airport at least at 3:00AM & we did… the airport was closed at least the airline desk. Really? We waited until finally they opened around 6AM, mind you, my ...

Spa - Paid $326 for Spa access which I always do on every NCL cruise. On this voyage the Spa was consistently overcrowded and noisy with loud conversations among guests who do not understand that the Spa is supposed to be a quiet place in which to relax, read, listed to audio books or music and nap. Lounge chairs were often unavailable because inconsiderate guests would leave a personal item atop ...

A relaxing and economical means of transportation to England and Ireland where we stayed for two weeks after the cruise. The food at the buffet was typical but we ate twice each at the French and Italian specialty dining and twice at the Irish pub and all were excellent. Service was consistently good throughout all venues and the Burn the Floor dancers were absolutely superb. One huge ...
