Boarding began rough, with a long line caused by equipment malfunction in the port of Manhattan, NYC. By the time we got in, it was nearly 4 PM, an hour after the listed sailaway time. The ship only left port at 5:40 PM, nearly 3 hours late. Buffet was less crowded than usual on embarkation day, and stateroom was ready with luggage by the time we boarded the ship. Sailaway party was cancelled due ...
As the name implies, every December we take an NCL cruise out of NYC with the same itinerary to the "south seas", it's a habit I hope never to break. This year was unique because we had a chance to cruise the NCL Bliss. December is known for winter storms along the Atlantic and this year was our turn to be blown around. The captain decided to modify the itinerary and slow our south bound leg of ...
I did not plan to cruise again this year but my daughter had a free week so Bliss was chosen for the dates and ability to drive to port. CAS comped an ocean view room and we were assigned 5778, a very large family ocean view. Space was great only draw back for me was the bathtub, I am 6’1” so my head touched the ceiling. This was the first time being so low on the ship and I must say I liked it ...
The ship was awesome, but embarkation was terrible. We were supposed to board at 12 and leave at 3 but we only got on at 3:30 and the ship left at around 6. We also had terrible rocking the 2nd day/night as well as the last day. They also cancelled Norwegian's private island destination in the bahamas, giving us an extra sea day and pushing our florida stop a day late.
The food was great in ...
Let me start this review by saying my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip, this was our second cruise on Norwegian and we loved the Bliss so much more than the Gem however, I will address issues that occurred on this trip and things that Norwegian as a company should do better.
Embarkation was pretty quick which was nice, once we got on the ship we headed to the garden cafe, plenty ...
Ship was very nice entertainment was outstanding everyday crew was excellent

The Bliss was a great cruise except for rooms. The noise from cleaning the kitchen for the Ocean Restaurant woke us up from 2-4am every night. Avoid rooms 9830-32 at all costs.
The staff were excellent. The food was very good. The specialty restaurants were the best eating.
Ocean was my favorite. The chocolate cake for dessert was out of this world. Don’t miss that, it’s the best. Cagneys ...
We stayed in Newark at Springhill suites. Very nice place to stay. We used a car service to go to the port. Embarkation was delayed but went smoothly. The ship had illness before us so had to be deep cleaned. First three days they served you in the Garden cafeteria so was a little hectic. Ship is beautiful. I stayed in the solo cabins which are wonderful!!! The main shows were very good. The rest ...
Cabin. The cleanliness of our cabin was very poor. On embarkation, there was a box of cereal on the floor of the wardrobe so that obviously hadn’t even been checked or cleaned, a mouldy used coffee bag in the coffee machine, and the bedside tables had not been cleaned as were covered in sticky ring marks! I had to clean the bathroom and we didn’t have a bath mat or a laundry bag. The balcony ...
Chose because of embarkation port in NYC. We live in Brooklyn. Embarkation was delayed, but went fairly quickly. NCL provided water, or juice and snacks.
The ship was very clean.
Our cabin was fine and had large balcony with 2 loungers, side table and large table with 2 chairs; we loved it.
Cabin steward did an acceptable job and was attentive.
Negatively, no towel ...
