Beautiful ship, but room for improvement in several areas

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Carnival Venezia

My wife and I and my parents just returned from a 10-day Cruise on Carnival Venezia, leaving from NYC to the Caribbean. The cruise ship docks at Manhattan Cruise Terminal. We live in upstate NY, about 6 hours away. With 4 people, it’s cheaper to drive than fly. We booked 2 rooms in Fairfield Inn North Bergen. They had a Cruise Package that would let us park the car at the hotel for 10 days ...

Great Itinerary, Epic not so great.

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Epic

We chose this cruise ( our first transatlantic) because of the itinerary. Interesting ports of call and the longest batch of sea days was four in a row, compared with some others of up to nine in a row. The itinerary was great, Bermuda, Ponta Delgada, Madeira, Motril, Ibiza and Palma before arriving Barcelona. The call at Cadiz was cancelled due to strong winds, which was a pity, but safety ...

Poor Deck Plan for Entertainment- Reduced Port Time

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

We had booked the TA from New York to Civitavecchia for both 2020 and 2021. Of course, COVID interrupted those plans, so we were finally able to cruise in 2023. The crew, entertainment and food all delivered as did the itinerary. However, the design of the ship left a lot to be desired. While the Boardwalk and Dining Venues were terrific, the Atrium was overused every day for live music, games ...

Very disappointed in ship and ports

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

Booked a transatlantic fm NYC to Rome. The ship (Breakaway) is in need to major cleaning and updating. Food in complimentary restaurants, while plentiful, is bland and not usually very hot. Specialty restaurants a little better, but meals can take up to 3 hrs to complete. Even specialty menus are limited and not enticing. Onboard entertainment mediocre, don’t expect broadway quality talent. ...

TRANSATLANTIC MED - A Cruise in Two Parts

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Gem

This was my second time on the Gem. Despite the ship's fanbase, I'm still on the fence about it's allure. The floorplan is not always user friendly, and advances to the industry since its launch seem clumsily and sometimes illogically squeezed into the deckplans. Still, it has its charms, mostly found in its initmacy. Cabins on deck 4 are subject to being the exit / entrance level for some ...

Weird ship

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

A nice transatlantic cruise. I will cut NCL some slack as I know cruising is just resuming and things are still pretty unsettled. Besides we missed a port (Azores) due to bad weather so we had (too) many sea days which became quite monotonous. We've taken a repositioning cruise on NCL twice before, so I can compare to previous years. My main complaint is that the food was definitely worse than ...

Lot of hype before boarding Bryan different aboard

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

This was our first time aboard the QM2 or any other Cunard ship, but we are very seasoned cruisers in other cruise lines. We were really excited in anticipation of our crossing and the next 17 days aboard the QM2, since the second leg of our cruise was the beginning of thieir World Cruise which normally shows the cruise lines best efforts since the world cruise caters to seasoned and most ...

Departed from Bayonne (not listed in departure ports list) SUNSHINE - Ship is elegant and gorgeous. The central lighting in the MDR is amazing! Likewise the twelve-deck towers of glass elevators in the atrium. I loved looking across the atrium space to gathering areas on the forward side. - Cabin stewards were wonderful. The halls were always full of stewards going about their business and ...

10 day NCL Gem review out of NY to S. Carribean

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Gem

Just arrived back from 10 day trip on Gem out of NY to southern Caribbean (5 ports). NCL does this cruise 4 times a year. Right up front I will say our last cruise was on Princess and received last minute free upgrade to mini-suite, so hard to compare with inside cabin on this trip. This trip was educational conference so wanted to try and stay within budget with inside cabin, now regret ...

- Check-in very good after we figured out there was a separate area for 'suite' check-in. Wouldn't have enjoyed the long lines we began with. - Cabin...kind-of new bordello in appearance, but cute too..spacious and good bathroom. - 'Butler'...a joke. Had to run to restaurant most of the time to get milk for coffee and usually had to keep asking for the coffee for the coffee maker. I think the ...
