Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Insignia

I am an experienced cruiser of 30 years, 40 or so cruises, mostly Celebrity but also five on Crystal, Regent, Azamara, Cunard, MSC, NCL and Royal. I was in the Owner's Suite and traveling with my mom in the suite, sister in another suite. First Oceania cruise. First, the good. I love the R ships. The size is perfect. You feel like you are on a ship, and not in a hotel that happens to be at ...

Queen Mary II Voyage : M237 Nov. 21 - Dec. 3 2022 The Queen Mary II - A shadow of its past, a ship you don’t wan’t to sail on… To anyone who may be considering travelling on the Queen Mary II, please read the following. I have submitted two emails to Cunard’s customer care and I have yet to receive a response. Not even an acknowledgment. And I used their feedback system within ...

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Viking Star

It should be mentioned right away that Viking clearly caters to a very small demographic of elderly clientele. My wife and I and the other couple that we travel with are healthy, active 60 year-olds and we felt that at least 90 percent of the other passengers were much older than us. We've taken previous Viking River cruises and, overall, really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, the things that we did ...

Never so Relieved to exit from a cruise

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Insignia

We didn't choose this cruise so much as we were forced into it. Back Story: In 2020, we booked Oceania's Scandinavian Baltic cruise. And then COVID-19. We were "assured" that if cruise would be canceled again, we would receive a a refund. Lie Number 1. As COVID-19 began to ease, we sailed on both Celebrity and Viking waiting for Oceania to re-open. Final Straw, we were booked on the August ...

Not the Old Oceania Ships of yesterday

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Insignia

We chose to go on the Insignia because it was our 4th cruise with Oceania which we enjoyed. Location, we live 10 minutes by car from the dock. The cruise line is not what it once was. The crew as usual was very accommodating, but it was obvious that they are very short staffed. One evening in the dining room we were seated and 10 minutes after us 3 tables were seated and ordered there ...

First and Last Cruise on Oceania Insignia

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Insignia

My wife and I chose Oceania Insignia since it was the only ship small enough to dock right in Hamilton and in St George instead of the traditional large ship port of the Royal Naval Dockyard. We also chose Oceania because of the cruise line's reputation as a first-class upscale boutique type of cruise line since we are big fans and repeat cruisers with Celebrity. We were very disappointed from ...

The Carnivilazition of Cunard

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

I've sailed with Cunard since the days of the QE2. An all British crew where tuxes & food cooked at your table were the order of the day. Today the QM2 is nothing more than a Carnival ship in disguise. Embarkation at Red Hook was a total disaster. Cattle entering a slaughterhouse are treated better. Passengers were kept outside the terminal in 95 degree heat requiring medical attention. Once ...

We had not been on the QM2 in about 10 years and decided to grab a great deal for the 2022 Independence Week cruise. What a shock to find that she was not up to the standards that we were used to on the QM2. We usually book balcony but took an inside with the deal for this cruise. A mistake for us because we never had been in an inside cabin on any ship before and the small size and no ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

We chose this cruise mostly because we had to get from NY to Hamburg. We thought it would be a good alternative to flying, as we are both retired and have plenty of time. We enjoy cruising and have done over 50 cruises on various lines (Holland America is our favorite, especially for crossings). It was our first time with Cunard. 1. The ship is old and tired. A real rust bucket (even ...

Embarkation at new York was a nightmare staff faffing around not having a clue what they were doing approx 2 hrs of queing only to line up to queue again. Ship looks dull and dated not at all glamourous like going into an English town hall back in 1950 Food in main resturant was ok nothing special imo Food in buffet was good choice and better quality although the constant masks on/off ...
