Background- My husband and I are in our late 50's -early 60's, both professionals from South NJ. Most recently we have been on 8 Princess cruises. Since we have cruised with Princess the most and most recently, they will be my basis for comparison. Recently, we also traveled on 2 river cruises in Germany and France, which were a wonderful but very different cruise experience. Several years ago, we ...
We are a family of 4 from Ontario, with 2 boys ages 4 and 10. In tow we picked up my Inlaws from Quebec in our minivan and drove down I-87 the day before. Stayed in Nanuet-Hampton Inn-about 40 minutes from NY pier. Hotel is brand new, but a little tricky to get in from the busy road. Had 2 snorkel vest delivered there and was waiting for me on arrival.
Left for the pier at 10am- crossed the GW ...
Noordam - March 8 - 19 review
Embarkation: Everything went very smooth. We arrived at the pier earlier than we expected (about 10 a.m.) and dropped the luggage at the front of the terminal. The others went to get our "spot" while I parked the van. After the canine inspection I was into the lot. I took the escalator down to the terminal level and the others were waiting with a "Number 3" in hand. ...
Noordam ( Holland America ) 1-16-2008 through 1-26-2008 NY - sea - sea - Grand Turk - Tortola - St. Maarten - St. Thomas - San Juan - sea - sea - NY We are in our 50's, definite cruiseaholics having sailed over 50 cruises since 1984. We sail most of the cruiselines but this was our first Holland America cruise. The Noordam was on Code Red status, indicating a norovirus outbreak on previous ...
First cruise for myself, second cruise for the girlfriend. We took the Holland America bus from Boston. A 6+ hour bus ride that should have only taken 5 hours at the most. Return trip was 51/2 hours once they finally decided to leave. If I had driven myself it would have been cheaper and I would have been half way home before the bus ever left New York. Be aware that if you pre-register via the ...
3/21/07 - 3/31/07 Embarkation: We started our trip with the HA bus transfer from Boston to NY. We were very fortunate that this bus went straight to NY (no stops as previously indicated) We left Boston ~6:40am and were at the ship terminal by 11:30am, with one rest stop in Conn. (Home bus trip was just as swift, this was the way to go if you didn't want to drive and pay parking fees. $89 pp rd ...
My wife and I are both in our early 50's. We cruise every other year with our two best friends and have been on RCCL (2),Princess,NCL,and this year decided to try HAL on the recommendation of my father in law. A big plus for us was the Noordam was sailing out of New York and so we only had a 2 hour drive to the dock and would not have the hassle of flying.
Embarkation: Very quick and efficient. ...
We are a couple of bottom-feeding DINKS (dual income, no children) in our early 30's who work very hard (as a nanny and a realtor, respectively) in NYC who wanted a no-muss, no-fuss winter vacation to The Caribbean. As I, Boohbah, abhor flying and Holland America has ships that leave out of New York, a cruise to The Caribbean by way of The Noordam seemed ideal.
Embarkation: We took a cab from ...
Disembarkation: This was fairly easy. You get to the station you get a number and your number is called and you go through a check in process which only take approximately 45 minutes. You get you card and you are on the ship and ready for your vacation. We were not allowed in our rooms because we were on the ship around 1pm and the rooms were not ready yet. We were allowed in our rooms about 2:30. ...
We flew Jet Blue from Portland, OR to New York, overnight. Their leg room and service is great, but the seats only go back about 2 inches, so we couldn't sleep a wink. We decided to forego any New York City sights this trip so we could focus only on the cruise.
We had a fabulous time, and we would rate the ship a very strong 4+, but not a 5. Despite the fact that this critique seems negative, we ...
