Review for Queen Mary 2 (QM2) to World Cruise

COVID-19 has disrupted all cruises and cruise lines, even those that are COVID-19 free. Cunard’s QM2 is no exception. We missed ports. The voyage was cancelled very early in Fremantle, Australia. We remained COVID-19 free. However, in spite of the (early on) wishes of us passengers, Cunard always put the health of the passengers and the crew first. We all know that cruise liners are not all ...

If this had been our first cruise it probably would have been our last. Finding the larger ships quite overcrowded we decided to try one of the smaller ones, Dawn, to see if we liked it any better. I have done Breakaway, Escape and now Dawn with the same NY to Bermuda itinerary. Both my Escape cruise and Dawn were at full capacity which lets me make a better comparison. The Good: *Ability ...

First Princess experience mostly positive

Caribbean Princess seemed like a well-run and well-kept ship. Even with our itinerary change due to Hurricane Dorian, things went smoothly and efficiently. The lackluster food was my only real issue, but even then, there were plenty of decent options. Embarkation in Brooklyn was smooth and quick with medallions. My only pet peeve was that the staff wouldn't accept my passport card for check-in ...

Went from NY to Bermuda and back aboard the Dawn. Embarkation they had many issues and we waited at the terminal for over 4hours. Disembarkation was a breeze. Was my 2nd time on the Dawn but, first time to Bermuda. I love the layout of the Dawn and the first time I went on the Dawn, January/February 2019 the staff were wonderful and, I had hoped to see some familiar faces however, it had been many ...

Our mini-suite was perfect. The balcony was just right for a evening nightcap and watching arrivals and departures. We were on deck 11, only 3 staterooms from the Spa! Such fun! A dip before we went on an excursion, then a dip after with a sauna and maybe a massage to relax before evening activities. Plenty of things to do, sometimes to many, but we had fun. The Special restaurants we chose ...

Our 5th cruise on the QM2 and possibly our 40th cruise overall. The Queen has clearly lost her crown. The ship is aging and needs refurbishing. Seating in the Illuminations theater needs to be fixed so they stay upright, need to be reupholstered; the public areas need to be kept free of detritus and stray bits of food and/or personal effects; the food in the main dining room was absolutely ...

Review for Queen Mary 2 (QM2) to Transatlantic

This was our second crossing on QM2, having sailed two years ago Westbound in December. The Atlantic in December *is* the destination for us as much as the QM2 herself, and neither disappointed. Perhaps because this was my second trip on QM2, I found the ship even more beautiful than I remembered. I noticed more of the details and the design and was constantly amazed and enchanted. So many ...

This is a short review of Queen Mary 2 after having completed four Transatlantic crossings on her, with the most recent one being the December 8 to 15 2019 run from New York to Southampton. First, the ship. Queen Mary 2 is not a cruise ship. She is an Ocean Liner. What does that mean? It means she is built differently than cruise ships. She is longer for her width, her freeboard (the distance ...

What a horrible location. I have sailed on QM2 many many times and usually ask for a balcony cabin in the Forward Section of the ship. This time however I wasn't so picky and 11110 was my assigned balcony cabin. From the second night to the second to last (12 nites), the maintenance staff was doing work on the deck above me. Right above my cabin. The knocking and banging and dragging of deck ...

As this was a 10 day repositioning review, there were special activities on board and lots of opportunities for relaxation and fun. We flew into NEWARK and then went via Princess Transfer from the airport. It took a little over an hour in traffic, but overall went pretty smoothly, as we were the last people on that bus going to the port. The bus was very nice and worth it for us as we did not ...
