We sailed on 11/2/19, we decided to upgrade to the Haven. Big mistake. The up charge was not worth what we received. No priority embarkation, staff at the pier was rude and discourteous, no special service in the room or from the butler. Butler did bring our meals when requested. Room service would have done the same for a fee of $8 per delivery, which is much cheaper than the Haven up charge, only had 4 deliveries through out the week. Asked to have our suit case unpacked, 24 hours later he sent the room steward, by then it was already done. There is no separate Haven area on the Dawn. Basically its a nicer room with amenities. We were directed to eat breakfast and lunch at Cagneys or Moderno. Each had the same menu so it did not matter which you choose. The menu never changed and the selections were boring. Dinner was on us as to where we wanted to eat. We used our specialty dinners for 3 nights and the buffet for the remainder. The buffet did not change at all. Again very boring. Our room steward Siri was wonderful she was pleasant and actually seemed happy to see us and engaged in short, but fun and happy conversations. Our butler never spoke to us but did listen and fulfill our requests, which consisted of food orders. The cruise itself was OK. The embarkation was horrible, we were stalled getting on the ship as it was late getting into port when we were to embark. The disembarkation was also horrible, we decided to have the crew take our luggage, again mistake. I recommend taking your luggage off by yourself or you will be the last off the boat. The trip itself was what I had anticipated, but was very disappointed in the Haven upgrade. Next time will try a ship that has a Haven section, because for us I did not see the return for the investment. Read Less

I wanted a low cost cruise and I got it. The Escape has obvious design flaws, pools are too small and not enough elevators, and 6 hot tubs for 4000 people is not enough, but beyond that was fun time. The entertainment was really excellent and a lot to do. After Midnight was great and so was Choir of Man. The "side" shows Fab 4, the comedians and Kid Ace (magic) were also great. The water slides and rope course (where else can you zipline on a ship) were also a blast. The ship felt a little understaffed. Food and service was good EXCEPT in the "luxurious" Manhattan Room where children were allowed to run on the dance floor and a baby in diapers was crawling around. YUK! The staff did nothing with these horrendous kids nor the parents who apparently thought their children's behavior was "cute". On previous Norwegian cruises they prohibited shorts in the Manhattan Room but apparently now anything goes. If you are expecting anything luxurious or classy probably Norwegian is not for you. Service was slow to non-existent in the Manhattan Room. The piano bar District Brewhouse was very fun although drinks pricey. Service in Taste and Savor restaurants was excellent! Another plus is never had a problem getting a table at the buffet which is another big plus. I love O'Sheens pub restaurant in atrium but sometimes it's noisy with the atrium activities. Tendering at Great Stirrup Cay was a nightmare and even though we were in tender group 2 (of 24) took almost 45 minutes to get off. Some waited 90 minutes to get a tender, There were two ships at the Island and the captain said it would be crowded and it was although they had plenty of chairs on beach if you walked a little. For some reason Norwegian chose NOT to use the ship tenders so waiting for the shore tenders (now split between two ships) was nothing short of a nightmare. They wanted $21 rent for an umbrella on beach, which seemed ridiculous. Water was warm and nice in Great Stirrup Cay. Another slight minus was the Port Canaveral stop was too late in the day to do much there. (got in at 1:30) I used Lyft to get to the Space Center (which BTW is much cheaper than the Norwegian Excursion) but had only about 3 hours at the space center which isn't enough time to see everything. (they close at 6) I'd suggest recruiting 3-4 people to go and getting one UBER or Lyft. Still I hadn't been to the space center in 30 years and was very fun to see. In conclusion I got a good deal on this cruise so I can't complain a lot. Read Less

First time cruising and absolutely loved it ! Wants initially excited about the early flight, however it turned out to be great as the terminal was not at all crowded and we were able to get right through customs. We had a mini sweet with a balcony and it was amazing ! I couldn’t imagine having an inside room. The ocean breeze and sounds at night were spectacular ! Our deck help was amazing, very nice and social! Our room always looked great ! We had our laundry done and he made sure we had it quickly as we needed some of it for that nights dinner ! The activities at night were a lot of fun ! We did not travel with children so it was nice to find places in the ship that were adult only during the day ! Food was absolutely delicious everywhere we went including the buffet! The make your own omelet was my favorite breakfast ! Read Less

I was asked to join cruise when one of the participants became ill. I am retired as are the others and had no previous plans so timing was not an issue. The ship is beautiful but not as large as others. I will say that there is not enough activities to participate in on at sea days, I mean how much bingo can one play? The food was adequate, nothing special. I will say that they are very attentive to cleanliness. Evening entertainment was good. Great vocalists in the lounges. The staff overall are very friendly. Received the daily Freestyle newsletter daily. It did not contain any international news as others I had received on other lines. There are no schedule of the limited programming on the TV in the cabins. There are movies on the TV but I had no idea when they started. There are no big screen movies on the ship. I was sorry that we only had half a day in St. Thomas. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it offered opportunities to visit California and enjoy a cruise. However, many seniors and handicapped people were on this cruise. I felt they were not as accommodating for them. The elevators could not accommodate walkers, wheelchairs, scooters and able-bodied cruisers. They were so small that they could hardly accommodate 12-13 people when the capacity was 18. They need to figure out a way to help the handicapped if they want them to be assessible to all areas. They did have 3 pool areas; one for families, one for adults with no children, and one for those who wanted more privacy. Be selective about the excursions. Some of them are not worth the money. For example, our San Diego excursion cost $60 each to take a 4-hour city tour where you really did not get to spend time walking and checking out the local sights. The marina had an area just down from the ship that was great with shopping, tours, and restaurants that was within walking distance. The wine tours, Carmel and Monterrey were very nice. Espanada Mexico was a very poor tour to the shopping area; I would not recommend that tour. We heard that the Steinbeck excursion was very good as well. Do some research before your choose your excursion. Sometimes, it is just nice to enjoy a day on the ship and walk to nearby areas. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and make the trip great. Embarking and disembarking went smoothly. I would definitely take this cruise again. Read Less

Our class chose this destination on a majority vote for our 45th college reunion. We wanted a cruise that would take us to the East Coast and Canada for the Fall Foliage. Our travel agent suggested a Princess cruise based on previous clients' recommendations. The embarkation was smooth and all the staff were very helpful and showed us the way to our stateroom and the dining room for lunch. Our stateroom was in a quiet location, clean, had a balcony, and the space was just right for my husband and me. The bed was very comfortable and the comforter was light and warm. The Medallion made it so easy to get in and out of our room, go through lines when exiting or returning to the ship. It also made it easy to shop, pay for drinks or other items on the ship; we did not need to bring our wallets and money on board. The food, entertainment, service and staff on the Regal Princess were all first rate!! I will return to this ship for another cruise with family and friends! Read Less

I went on this cruise with Mom and Sister (girls only). We had been a trip together in a long time. We had a great time. The pullout sofa bed was the most comfortable pullout I have ever slept on. Our waiters, Guisepee and David, were great. They were very attentive and anticipated our every need. We got to sit in the Club dinning area and were able to dine at anytime during the hours they were opened. The lobster was out of this world. I got to eat it twice on the ship and once on an excursion. Great excursions also. All tour guides were knowledgeable and were fun to listen to. I loved seeing the lighthouse in Peggy's Cove. Great place to visit. They only negative was I did not believe there was enough shopping available on the ship. The shops they did have had limited things in them. Read Less

My Husband & I had never been to the East Coast and I was excited to see the fall colors. We are both history buffs and I wanted to explore the history of this region. Our room was excellent and my favorite which is the last balcony on floor 14 as the balcony is a bit larger and the view is better for me. Our room Stuart was excellent. The bed and pillows were very nice. Room service in the morning was very good but the menue is very limited. A nice pot of coffee is the most important and it was always prompt and hot. I like smaller ships but thought I would try a ship with 3000 people to see if things ran smoothly. Well EVERYTHING was crowded and a hastle. The Buffet was a nightmare! No matter what time we went between 5PM and 8PM the seating was so crowded you would wander around with plates of food looking for a place to sit. There was a virus outbreak so you could not serve yourself and all the waitstaff was serving buffet items. There was no one on the floor to get you water or coffee and you could not go near the beverage area! One time I ran down to my room to get water for my meal! It was so irritating. Why dont they seat you and get your drink order, reserve the table, then send you to the buffet? I tried to make reservations at the specialty restaurants but everything was full. I was told to come on by and see if someone did not show up for their reservation. This was for the Anytime Dining Room too! Soooo many people. I love the production shows so the 1st show I went about 20 minutes early and barely got a seat with my husband. Next production show I went 30 minutes early with the same results. The last show I went 1 hour early and got good seats. In all the shows there were people standing along the side of the theater during the entire production. This made me most uncomfortable. What if there were a fire - yikes. WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE! The excursions are usually good and well organized. Well not this time. The 1st port (Newport) we were to be tendered to shore. This is usually not a problem as we meet at a location and our entire tour is tendered togather and in plenty of time for the tour. This time we were left on our own to compete with the rest of our 3000 closest friends to get to shore on time. We were in the loby at 10 AM and did not get to shore until 12:15 - A WHOLE HOUR LATE FOR OUR TOUR!! WTH! The Excursion Staff said OOPS! Refund. REFUND! By the time I got to shore I had no time to book another tour to see the Mansions I was looking forward to. The Excursion Staff suggested I could shop. SHOP! I can do that at home! We had to skip two ports due to the weather (so again there were no reservations for the Dining Rooms or the Specialty Resteraunts and I was stuck at the buffet again!). We were offered a 20% discount on a future cruise, and altho this is a nice touch it could have been more. Especially becasue of this Norovirus thing. So other than not getting into many of the shows in the Princess Theater and not getting to eat at any of the good restaurants this cruise wasn't too bad. I advise you to make reservation for all resteraunts prior to your cruise. Make reservations for your dining the day you arrive When you are on one of these Ships with so many people! Also missing 2 ports was especially disappointing (especially since I feel I missed the Newport port also). I feel I need a "do over". Maybe I will start shopping for another East Coast Trip -- with Princess???? I do not know. Let me get over this disappointment befor I make that commitment. I hear Viking river cruise on the Hudson is great and they have small ships and don't nickel and dime me to death. Hummmmm... Read Less

Chose the cruise to see the leaves changing in new england and to relax. Seems like we had the “B” team on the cruise....there was a noro virus outbreak on the cruise prior to ours, so boarding was delayed for the ship to be sanitized...when we got to our cabin we found someones 1/2 drunk sprite in our mini fridge and their shampoo cap on the shower floor...clearly our bathroom and fridge wasn't cleaned, much less sanitized between cruises. The food other than the Santini italian place was very bland...tasted like cardboard. It was an 11 day cruise... 1 of the 2 driers on our level was broken the whole time and our toilet wasn't cleaned after the initial cleaning( that we had to ask for...). The entertainment was disappointing compared to celebrity cruises. I have to start by saying the staff onboard this ship certainly give the impression that they love what they are doing! That was very refreshing! The activities were plentiful and entertaining. The food was good, but I do have to say that service in the Main Dining Rooms was difficult at times. The staff seemed to be run off their feet. During our first breakfast in Taste it took almost half an hour to get our first cup of coffee. The empty cups and cream were set on the table as soon as we ordered coffee, but no one came to fill the mugs despite asking multiple times. This trend continued intermittently throughout the cruise. Sometimes we did receive a small pot of coffee right away, but all too often we had to beg for our first cup...and refills just didn't happen. The bar drinks and other foods were typically served in a timely manner though. Our last dinner which we took in the Manhattan Room took over 2 hours. This was disappointing because we had a 7:30pm show and took care to arrive to the dining room by 5pm. At 7:30 we actually left before dessert was through. This was shocking. It was very busy by 7:30, but when we were seated at 5pm there was only a handful of people seated. The food was good, but the slow service was disappointing. Our server seemed to be rushing, so we didn't complain. It just meant that we arrived to Choir of Men late. But speaking of Choir of Men...that was fantastic! Such a great show. We also really enjoyed After Midnight and the bar entertainment, namely Sing-a-long with Justin Golan and Howl at the Moon (duelling pianos). The cabin was nice with a lot of storage cubbies. (We had a mid-ship balcony on the 15 floor). Our 14 year old son thoroughly enjoyed Entourage. All in all an enjoyable vacation. Read Less

35 yo, couple. We really liked our trip to Bermuda with Norwegian Escape. It was a really cool adventure as first-time cruisers. The ship is well maintained - the staff is super friendly and the balcony cabins are spacious for a couple. The complimentary food was OK. Not the best but we did enjoy it. The shows were awesome. Our main problem was with the SMOKING been allowed on the ship in the casino. First of all we couldn't play in the casino because of the smoke. BUT even if you didn't play the casino you coudn't avoid the smoke - the casino is located in the midship near main attractions and dining area. you just can't avoid passing through the casino that is packed with smokers. Disgusting and unhealthy. My wife is pregnant and we really suffered from that. NCL - please progress to 2019 and don't allow smoking on the ship. You can allocate dedicated closed smoking rooms in the casino but please don't force everyone to suffer!!! Read Less

MSC New York City to Quebec (roundtrip) October 2019 Our first experience with MSC was extremely disappointing, to the point we will never use this cruise lines again. MSC is an Italian based cruise line that is trying to make an entrance into the U.S. market and unless they make some major changes, will definitely fail. See some of our experiences below. • Arriving at terminal was total disorganization - chaos. No one to direct passengers resulted in our standing on multiple lines for over 4 hours just to board. • Ship left two hours late since not all passengers could board on time. • Since the highlight of this cruise was to go to Quebec Canada, it was very disappointing to learn that the itinerary was changed from one and a half days in Quebec to just one day. I learned this after boarding. We also learned that instead of the return arriving changing by two hours earlier that the itinerary stated. My wife asked the ships cruise director what we were going to do with the 12 hours cut short form the itinerary. The cruise director replied (and this true) “we need to go slower leaving the Saint Lawrence Seaway since we must avoid hitting any whales.” • There were several other stops to Canada ports and when approaching Sydney, the captain announced that they were cancelling this stop altogether. As experienced cruisers we found these itinerary changes altogether unacceptable. This is no way to treat your customers in any business. DINING • Having traveled on all the major cruise lines that serve the US market such as Princess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival, Holland America, etc., we know that we can look forward to fine dining as part of the experience. We especially expected dining to be good since we like Italian food (of which there was some, but little) MSC obviously doesn’t consider quality dining important. While their buffet was good the evening dinners were mediocre at best. Maybe this is acceptable on European cruises, I don’t know. It was another significant disappointment. SERVICE • The crew, for the most part, spoke little, and in some cases, no English. In many cases they simply did not know the answer, for example “where is the restroom” or “what kind of meat is in this dish?” I don’t want to convey that all crew members were like this because some made sincere efforts to be helpful. I am sure that MSC knows their business, but I also know that if they want to make in the American market major changes will have to occur. • Like all cruise ships that we have been on, MSC also had a Customer Service desk. This also had long lines. Many people told us of 2 hours waits on this line. Going there myself the desk that could be staffed by 7 people, only had one. DRINK PACKAGE • MSC does offer several “drink packages”. We purchased the base one that included unlimited drinks for most beverages. The drinks that qualified for with our Easy Package were all drinks that were listed as $6.00 or less on any ship menu. This seemed to be working well until we all discovered that in many cases, we were being charged for drinks included in our package. This was an 11-day cruise that took all 11 days to get the charges straightened out. o Here is where I must compliment the head waiter in the dining room for his persistence in getting the charges rectified. • It is also is an indication that so many ship personnel had no understanding of the drink package program, even that the program existed, though it was clearly written on each passenger’s ship cabin key card that had to be presented for any purchases. GLOBAL CRUISE LINES • Electrical outlets in staterooms and ship are set up with many European 220-volt receptacles, although our room did have two 110 outlets, there are zero public 110 outlets. An example of this is my friend had to return to his sate-room to recharge his oxygen converter. This is another example of how the MSC lines is really not prepared for the U.S. market. • MSC seems to pride themselves in being an international cruise line. Clearly the large majority of passengers were English speaking from the U.S. It did get to be a bit much having to hear each single ship announcement in 5 different languages (English, French, German, Spanish, and of course Italian). I really think that they don’t realize that this is unlikely to work for the U.S. market. o While on an MSC sponsored excursion in Quebec the bus tour guide explained everything in Italian and English. I couldn’t help but feel that were missing out on part of this tour because more than half the time we had no idea what she was saying. Even the entertainment was presented in 5 languages. SUMMARY This partial overview really doesn’t list all the disappointments we had on this cruise; however, I feel that it is only fair that I point out some of the ship’s positive traits. The Meraviglia is a fairly modern ship with many sections aesthetically pleasing. The ship is large and I believe able to accommodate 5,700 passengers. If adequately staffed I think it could support this quantity of passengers. Staterooms were comfortable and sized as one would expect to find on similar cruise lines. Dining rooms were large and sufficiently sized to support all passengers. The ship Meraviglia did have the multiple pools, spa, exercise room, food court, casino, plus even had two stationary Formula One race cars and bowling alleys. In my opinion if you are considering a cruise with MSC I would highly recommend checking out them carefully before making a regrettable decision. Please ask others their opinion/experiences as well. While I realize that you don’t know me, please take my word as an experienced cruiser that there much better options than MSC. Read Less

My husband decided to take me on our first cruise to Bermuda. We both never went on a cruise before, so, we were very excited. From the phone reservation that we made with Starling (NCL representative), to the end of our trip, we were just amazed by the whole process and operation. We found it easy to deal with. The embarkation process information could be a little bit clearer. After the cruise, we thought a later embarkation time is better. If you arrive early, you may have to wait in line. They call people by the group number. So, later time would guarantee less wait time because your group number would have been called already. The Escape ship is huge and beautiful! It didn’t look that big while we’re inside because walking from the front to the back of the ship didn’t take that long or could it be due to activities and decorations surrounding the interior ship. Once we embarked on the ship, we went to the buffet section because we were advised to do so by the staff at the ticket counter without knowing that the main dining rooms were already opened for business. So, please go to the main dining room if you could wait a little bit to get your meal, otherwise go to Garden Cafe buffet on Deck 16 to eat right away. We were hungry due to waiting in line, so it worked out good. We only enjoyed the buffet 2-3 days for breakfast and lunch during our 7-day cruise. We went to the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants most of the time. We received 3 specialty restaurants plus free Wi-Fi service that came in the package. However, the free Wi-Fi lasted 4 hours, so on top of that, we bought an unlimited Wi-Fi service for only $80+ and stayed connected the entire time. After lunch on embarkation day, we went straight to our room. We booked an Oceanview as per Starling, because of our first-time cruise. He was correct to suggest this because we spent most of our time outside the cabin. We had Natalie, a lovely steward. She was so nice from day one. She cleaned the room each time we walked out, so the room was always clean and neat. Awesome! The employees were exceptional! Whatever training they made them do was worthwhile and paid off. I think Norwegian Cruise Line nailed it in the service business. The hosts and hostesses were very accommodating. Sometimes this goes both ways. We’re the type of people who make conversation with employees no matter where we go and dine. This little thing goes a long way. We remember Jay Bee Morales, Noelia, Luh, Ivanna, Claire, Wayan, Chris T, Dinalo, and many others but these names stick with us because we talked to them more than once. We were so thankful for Jay Bee’s hospitality. He’s an assistant Maitre D and he ran a great crew! Everyone on the ship worked hard to maintain the service to a high standard. I must admit that we plan to take the same cruise again. About the entertainment on the ship, we saw two shows. The third night we saw “After Midnight”. We booked this before the cruise date. This show was mindboggling! We enjoyed the performance, especially the tap dance by the trio. We also enjoyed the singing by 2-3 talented artists, great voice! On ‪our last night,‬ we saw “The Choir of Man” and this one was fantastic! We booked this on board. The selected songs in this show were perfect. We enjoyed the music and don’t mind seeing it again. We will try the comedy club and karaoke next time. The food at specialty restaurants was slightly better than the main dining rooms. We liked the French restaurant, Le Bristo. Teppanyaki came in second place and the Italian restaurant, La Cucina was just so-so. At Teppanyaki you would get a complete set of the dish plus full entertainment by the Chef. We had Yudo as our Chef. The chefs sang while preparing and decorating food, the whole nine yard! The Italian restaurant, La Cucina couldn't really compete with Italian restaurants in NY; it was just ok. We will try other specialty restaurants next time but definitely would go back to Le Bristo. We had the opportunity to use the gym and the experience was amazing because I used the treadmill and elliptical machines overlooking the sea, how cool is that! I also visited the mini library. This state-of-the-art room was beautifully decorated. The gallery of paintings took a lot of space. They were nice to look at but we wouldn’t purchase them because some of them were not authenticated. We didn’t use any excursions because my husband knows Bermuda well. He’s been there a few times in the past. The ferry from Royal Naval Dockyard to St George’s and Hamilton are not hard to get. There’re plenty of transportations to take us to the beach. We tried the bus to Horseshoe Bay Beach (gorgeous beach!) and we also used the ferry that took us back from Hamilton to the dockyard. I will try to see more of Bermuda next time. The weather didn’t cooperate on one of the three days we were there. The last day in Bermuda we went to the Snorkel Beach, 5 min-wall from the dockyard. This was not a bad beach but too small and we had to pay to access this beach. We never went on a cruise prior to this and we're glad the first experience was magnificent! The overall experience was fantastic! Thanks for making our first cruise a happy one! Read Less

We chose this cruise to hopefully catch some great fall colors and - perhaps - the Northern Lights. We got one out of two! Colors were gorgeous, especially in Canada. We took our daughter and her husband with us and had a delightful time with them! Embarkation was amazingly smooth - probably a function of not trying to get on board as early as possible, like we usually do! Really enjoyed the ports and the on board entertainment. Dining room food was a bit below Princess' normally high standards. Cruising through sub-tropical storm Melissa was probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience that the ship and captain handled amazingly well - making it actually an exciting experience, rather than scary. Although this itinerary is not one I would repeat (unlike others we have taken), I am delighted that we had the opportunity to see a part of the Northeast we had not previously experienced. Peggy's Cove and the Reversing Rapids were especially amazing! Read Less

We are avid cruisers. The ship was beautiful, clean, alive with activities and the staff was AMAZING! Staff was amazing helping me with my Keto diet!! Above and beyond helpful!!! I could easily order meals without carbs, but it was sad to have no dessert. Sugar Free is different from Carb Free. So I spoke to the head chef, and he assigned an assistant maitre’d to help me. They ended up creating a special carb free dessert for me for every night! I felt so cared for!! It was amazing! That assistant maitre’d phoned me regularly in our cabin and left information for each meal. It was unbelievable!! The only downside to this sailing was that it was far too crowded. Perhaps it is the nature of the cold-weather cruise for the inside gathering areas to be crowded. People were fighting for seats in the Atrium. Groups would stake out seats in the Atrium first thing in the morning, and then take turns saving those seats throughout the day. Staff always brought in folding chairs, but we were on a cruise for comfort and relaxation. Folding chairs did not meet our needs. That’s why they put the wonderful, cozy furniture in the Atrium. Instead add a day to Quebec City as the time spent there was way too short. It was also hard since the time spent there was cut short. I also think the beverage package is over priced. You should be able to get wine at the bars too especially since most days, we are not there for lunch! The spa is nice but you need more than one bathroom in the changing room. We did have wonderful staff that cleaned our room(Leadie). The food was very good especially in the specialty restaurants. The excursions were very expensive and the ones that I would have been interested in were moderate and were filled. Thank you Read Less

Told this USED TO BE a great cruise line. Times have changed tremendously!! Definitely a 3rd rate ship in need of professional leadership at the corporate level. The ship is run as though they going broke!! You pay for two fares for you and your partner, then are told the so called free internet can only be used by one of you at a time??? Or you can pay an additional $270 for the other person. They allow one bar of shower soap for two people to last 2 weeks. The same with the small bottles of lotion and shampoo ! Of course, you can purchase more.... Food quality has definitely declined significantly!!!! And the portions are meager as you almost beg for more. Waiters have been ordered not to ask would you like another drink, unless it is one you are buying. We would never cruise with Oceania again. Caveat emptor.. Read Less

My wife and I wanted to do a different cruise this year so we decided on the New England to Quebec cruise. After looking at several cruise lines we choose Princess because of the itinerary and the reputation. We arrived 2 days early in New York and stayed in Brooklyn not far from the cruise terminal which worked out great, as we could drop our bags in the morning and then take the NYC Ferry to NYC and back to the terminal. Embarkation was smooth and so easy with the Medallions. Our room was nice, the bathrooms are what you can expect on most ships. The bed was a bit short. Comfortable but short. Our steward was very nice and did a great job. He kept the room clean and always had ice in the fridge. Our only real room glitch was we ordered some items to be in the room on arrival to the room but they were not there. We ordered robes to be in the room and I ordered a Stanley Bear to be in the room. The robes did not show up till a full day or more later and I had to go get the Bear at the shop, which kinda killed the surprise. Oh well. We went to the Steakhouse on the first night and it was lovely. Wonderful food and attentive staff. We used the buffet for breakfast a few times, had the Ernesto Burger by the pool, went to anytime dining, went to tea in the dining room twice and had our daily coffee at the International Cafe. The buffet was your average buffet. The food was good and tasty, I would have liked to see more fruit, including bananas. Due to a gastro-intestinal issue on the previous cruise we could not handle the salt and pepper which made seasoning eggs and such a pain. We ended up buying salt/pepper shakers on an excursion as well as some hot sauce and took it to the buffet and morning dining room. The international cafe and the coffee card were perfect for us in the AM. and the egg muffin sandwich was great for early excursions or on debarkation. Loved the International Cafe. The Ernesto burger was very good indeed. Well worth the 15 minute wait. The anytime dining was good. The food was on par with other cruise lines I have been on. Service was a bit slow but not terribly so until the last 3 days and it seemed to get slower and slower. We did have a couple of mix ups at dinner. Like not having the curry sauce on a dish with curry sauce and not getting a appetizer portion of some pasta even though it was ordered. I eat too much on cruises so that last one is not a real issue. The desserts were great especially the chocolate items. I would have like to see more vegetables though. The itinerary was action packed. 9 stops in 10 days. All of them were excellent and offered something for every one. We planned our own excursions or simply walked around town. there was plenty of time a each to enjoy the port. I had a couple of disappointments with the overall experience which makes me think that maybe Princess is not for me. 1. On board activities often overlapped so I could not get to all the things I liked. for instance the photo classes and the go pro classes were at the same time or overlapped so i could not do both. I did as much of the trivia challenges as I could but many were so tight on the schedule I could not do them all. 2. I love the medallion. It made getting off and on the ship a breeze and getting into the state room easy. Paying for stuff was also easy. The Apps were not as flawless. there is a disconnect between the website the apps and the written items on the ship. Also the staff does not understand the app or what they can do so sometimes I ended up know more than the staff . I felt like a beta tester and that the apps were a little rushed to get out. Overall I really did enjoy the cruise and the ship. I just don't feel that Princess is the right line for me at this time. Read Less

The destination was my primary reason for choosing this cruise line. I had never traveled with Norwegian, but heard it was good. We had problems with the setup of room and accessibility to outlets for my laptop. The cost of the internet was way above other ships I have traveled with. The room was not cleaned from the previous people. Mirrors on the outside of the bathroom needed cleaning and an empty liquor bottle was left behind the night stand. Food was average to less than average and not hot on the buffet. The buffet was more like cafeteria food. I was VERY disappointed in the lack of friendliness of dining staff, the lack of glitz or niceties that most ships offer - like towel animals, etc. The ship was fine. The entertainment very good, especially Jose and Patti. They made the cruise for me. Shore excursions were quite expensive. I will not travel this ship again. Read Less

By far the best cruise we have ever been on !! Normally we cruise with Royal Caribbean but will be sticking with NCL from now on. We travelled on Sept 22nd to Canada and New England and had an absolute ball. Fantastic ship, lovely food, excellent entertainment, the staff were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Alvin the cruise director is the best we’ve ever seen by far, so funny and really made everyone so welcome. The game shows were hilarious as were the 70s and 80s dancing comps. We had an aft facing balcony cabin, normally we would have a suite and spend a lot of time on the balcony, but because the entertainment was so good on the Escape we only used our cabin to sleep in ! I can’t really pick out any part of the cruise that was the best as the whole of it was fabulous and we really can’t wait to go back on this excellent ship. Read Less

NCL does an outstanding job of hiring. I'm not sure where they find all the smiling faces, but it sure makes for an enjoyable experience onboard. We took four excursions. Three of them were great (Lobster Boat, Carriage Ride in Acadia, and Maple Syrup Tasting); one was only fair (Lunenburg). The later was just not to my interest, nothing actually wrong with the tour. We only went to one show onboard ("After Midnight") and it was excellent, high energy with a talented cast. The food was better than I expected. I would particularly recommend Moderno, but only if you're hungry. The specialty restaurants were very nice, but so were the complementary options. My favorite is the Manhattan room. There are many entertainment options onboard while at sea and while in port. If you have nothing to do, it's because you choose to do nothing--and that can be fun too. We will be taking another cruise on the Escape at the end of this month. Read Less

We took this as our first cruise. It was my birthday that week. We didn't make it to Bermuda, however we had a great time. The dining staff(Eddy. Riafin and one other ) were fantastic. All the staff including room staff was fantastic! We will definitely cruise with Carnival Sunrise again! For being on the ship 5 out of 6 days we were always enertained. The shows were incredible! The talent on that ship from shows to 3rd floor music was great. The pictuted we had done on formal nights came out beautiful, and there was no high potch sales involved! We look forward to sailing with Carnival Sunrise again, not to mention they gave us 100% refund dur to not making it to Bermida. We did stop in Charleston which was beautiful and enjoyed that port. All in all it was a grrat experience for a first time cruise! Can't wait to book again! Read Less

The service was wonderful. The ship is big and clean bur you would never know there was 4200 guest aboard. Elevators were plentiful. The cruise was to maine and Canada out of NYC. The weather was superb. The ship had plenty of space for those who wanted to stay at the pool or quiet time to get sun and be in the jacuzzi. Our cabin was a balcony and had enough space for the 2 of us. It was cleaned every day and we had midship so we could see right and left. The food was superb especially the specialty restaurants. We enjoyed the steak at Lo Bistro and Cagneys. La Cucina was great Italian food and we sat outside which made us feel that we were ocean side. The best was baymo superb fish food with real lobster. The best part of the cruise was the service. All of NCl ships should take lessons from the Escape personnel. They could of not be nicer and efficient especially the director of food and beverage. What a staff. We have cruised often and will return to the Escape. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to go to Bar Harbor Maine. We like sailing out of New York City. We were on the ship by 11:45 am. The ship was completely full and many times this presented a problem. There was plenty to do on the ship with the entertainment being the best. I was happy that the casino had a non smoking section. The food at the restaurants was hit or miss. The only extra pay restaurant we went to was the Modeno and that was very good. The service was also so so. One things that really bothered me was because the ship was so crowed that people were waiting to get in the dining rooms and because of this, I felt like I was really rushed to finish my diner and leave. The other problem with the ship was the lines to get on the elevators. We had a balcony cabin that was kept very clean as was the rest of the ship. The week we were on the ship, Guy Harvey was on it with his daughter and they different types of presentations. He is the person that painted the hull of the ship. The Man of Choir show was the best show that we have seen on a cruise ship. We liked it so much that we saw it twice. We booked all four of our excursions with Norwegian and they were all good to very good. The cruise was not as good as an Alaskan cruise but I would still recommend it. Read Less
