The boat is great! The passengers, not so much!

This is a lovely cruise ship and the staff are very kind and accommodating. We enjoyed the cruise. There are a few things that could have been better and briefly they are: The pool area/ hot tubs were overrun by what I can only call a rough crowd. Picture four hot tubs full of drunk obese people who seldom leave the tubs. They just sit in an overflowing tub all day while the empty beer cans and ...

As far as NCL ships go I liked the Getaway as I also liked her sister the Breakaway. I found the ship roomy with lots of nice spaces and lots of things to do. I use the Spice H2O during the day because it is adult only and the service there is always good. The complementary restaurants were excellent yet redundant on a 10 day cruise. The specialty restaurants were very good and food was plentiful. ...

Jan 2, 2024 (10 day on a bermuda trip with no bermuda.) traveled from ca to ny to see bermuda and other islands. instead more days at sea with a boat way overcrowded with horrible food. They should have diverted us to another port instead of 3 more days at sea since bermuda was out. We could've gone back to dominican rep, st. Thomas or puerto rico! 3 days at sea when we left and 3 days at sea to ...

More days at sea then ports

We usually cruise on Disney but our kids are getting older so we tried NCL. What a mistake that was! We sailed on a family suite in the Haven. The food in the Haven never changes, but the ship is so crowded you can’t eat anywhere else. The ship has little to offer families and food is tough to find outside of meals. We spent 5 days at sea with four ports. NCL keeps scheduling Bermuda trips ...

Pleasant cruise, No surprises

We chose this cruise because, for us, no fly and we were able to book at late date. Embarkation was seemless, almost too quick and easy. We had to wait 3 hours before stateroom was ready and eating venues were jammed. But once settled in, the sail away past the Statue of Liberty was magnificent on a clear, crisp day. Disembarkation was a little delayed, but once called, moved right through. ...

A post-Covid cruise that I can honestly rave about

We wanted to do something different for the holidays but after being a bit disappointed by the high passenger loads and reduced staffing and services on some recent cruises, our expectations were a bit muted. Also we were not enthused about flying during such a busy time of year. As it turned out, the QM2's cruise to the Caribbean over Christmas and New Years was a very pleasant surprise. We ...

Classic NCL--not a bad thing, at all

I wanted to shake the holiday season up, given that there are only so many years of turkey, christmas trees, & family drama left in me, so I booked this cruise. It ended up as a solo cruise (don't ask), & I found myself in spa balcony room. Here's my impressions (disclaimer: this was my 4th NCL cruise), & I hope you find them helpful, if not entertaining: CABIN: Solid. A/C was kind of ...

A Terrible Experience

I have not been on many vacations in my life, so I was quite excited for a 12-day Christmas cruise. I don’t enjoy being away from home for very long, so I was a little unsure of how the cruise would be. My family insisted it would be fun, making promises of delicious food, fun activities, and as much diet soda I could want. Unfortunately, they were very, very wrong and what followed were 12 days ...

We did a 12 day holiday cruise from NYC to the Caribbean on the Getaway, our second time on this ship. First let me say that we are so very grateful for the folks working over the holidays so we could take a vacation. The good: the Port of NY has the embarkation process down. We registered for an 11 a.m. time, showed up on time and were moved through all lines quickly and smoothly. Once we had ...
