Okay, first things first - the very worst embarkation experience in 40 years of cruising. Brooklyn's Red Hook terminal is small, over-crowds easily, and was understaffed. We stood on line for two solid hours. Horrible.

The two of us would not normally chose to book on a Carnival ship line because of their nickel and dime business model. But their transatlantic service is a Cunard specialty and, if you have the time, cruising is at least as plush as a business class flight and at about the same price. We’d recommend it for that reason alone.

QM 2 is a wonderful ship. It is very nautical and has a large number of venues in which to eat, dance, drink or listen to music. Why so many complaints? If you don’t want to see any signs of rust and wear, go on a brand new cruise ship! This ship is 18 years old and they were constantly painting and repairing everywhere during our cruise. Many of the areas have new carpet, new furniture and the ship was spotless in all the bathrooms, common areas and restaurants.
