Good, Not Great
"Lunches in the buffet were fine, though the pizza was lousy and no made to order pasta bar (which I recall them having on our first cruise). In comparison, the experience in some regards were equal to that of our prior cruise (service and room primarily) though in some cases (food and entertainment) we saw some definite decline unfortunately...."Read More

Awful and Appalling Service so far

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Had a cruise credit to use up. Was given a promotion to include drinks up to 12 USD for bars and room service. Room service last night refused to service an order for a Diet Coke. Asked the steward. Another refusal. Grills concierge at about 9 am promised a refrigerator supply of the soda. 11 45. No soda. Asked to see food and beverage coordinator. I would have brought on soda (and soap - see ...

I think this was my last Cunard voyage.

I chose this Crossing because it was Cunard's annual Crossing with the British National Orchestra. At Southampton, I stayed on the ship and went to northern Norway and back for another 13 days on the ship. So, I was on board the QM2 for 20 days as a solo traveler. I was in a different stateroom for the Norway portion of my journey. This Crossing with the orchestra was memorable, and I am glad ...

Atlantic Covid Cruise

Covid is alive and well on Cunard cruises. We came prepared with our Covid documents, which were not checked during embarkation. No Covid protocols were followed on board. By day 2 of the cruise we both came down with Covid and were quarantined for the remainder of the 7 day voyage. We were allowed to select from three food options for in-room dining and were unable to experience any of the ...

CUNARD is CUNARD is CUNARD

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Okay, first things first - the very worst embarkation experience in 40 years of cruising. Brooklyn's Red Hook terminal is small, over-crowds easily, and was understaffed. We stood on line for two solid hours. Horrible. Regarding my title, please leave behind any ideas of 21st century cruising. Cunard is firmly rooted in a prior age - and that is good and bad - depending on expectations. ...

The Queen Mary II is a elegant old bird with a few creaks and quirks.

The two of us would not normally chose to book on a Carnival ship line because of their nickel and dime business model. But their transatlantic service is a Cunard specialty and, if you have the time, cruising is at least as plush as a business class flight and at about the same price. We’d recommend it for that reason alone. We were in a Britannia Club cabin meaning we ate in the Britannia ...

Check in was a disaster

QM 2 is a wonderful ship. It is very nautical and has a large number of venues in which to eat, dance, drink or listen to music. The activities on this crossing which focused on art and design were very good. The entertainment in the main showroom was fair. The food is commparable to most mid to upper tier ships which is good but not great. The pub had good food and an excellent irish duo ...

Enjoyed our first Transatlantic Crossing

Hello all, although we are only returned from our trip a couple of days and still catching up on life, I thought I should get something on the boards based on the recent conversation about no comments from Britannia passengers. A short bit about us, husband and I are 62 and 57, retired, live in the Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida. We take 4-6 international trips per year, and travel by ...

Elegance and Fun

We chose this cruise because it is different than any other cruise, it is a crossing on an ocean liner. My daughter and I loved going to tea in the afternoon, sitting out by the pool at the back of the ship, and all the historic photos on board. Having a planetarium is a unique feature for a cruise ship and we attended several times. The late night "snack" is fabulous and is really another ...

An excellent voyage on a beautiful ship!

Why so many complaints? If you don’t want to see any signs of rust and wear, go on a brand new cruise ship! This ship is 18 years old and they were constantly painting and repairing everywhere during our cruise. Many of the areas have new carpet, new furniture and the ship was spotless in all the bathrooms, common areas and restaurants. I think some cruisers got a little spoiled pre-pandemic ...

Our best voyage ever, though not a normal journey

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

We traveled August 5-28 on the Queen Mary 2, round trip from New York stopping at Southampton, Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Southampton. As a result of having 3 or 4 cancelled trips in 2020 and 2021 (and resulting FCC), we splurged on a Queens Grill Penthouse (we’ve previously traveled in both Princess Grill and Britannia). This was not a ‘normal’ shipboard experience for us as we ...
