1-10 of 10 Crystal Symphony Cruise Reviews for Luxury Cruises to Canada & New England from New York (Manhattan)
We have gone on other Crystal cruises before and were anxious to check out the new Seabreeze Penthouses. While they are 50% larger than the standard Veranda Suites, they also cost about 50% more. The Suite was beautiful and the extra space was fantastic. On the negative, the TV is in an awkward place, the vanity area is very tight and the lifeboat just below our balcony interfered with our ...
Firstly a little bit of background. My wife and I are long time cruisers, mostly on smaller and the R8 ships. Pacific Princess and the unfortunate Adonia have been our regular choice, but in recent years have looked into alternative cruise lines. Windstar, Regent and now several Cruises with Oceania.
Back to this review. We chose the Crystal Symphony because of the itinerary and to experience ...
We've sailed Crystal quite a few times. The earlier cruises were great. However, since the new president took over, there have been cutbacks & disappointments all over . Quality of food has gone way down. Portion sizes have shrunk greatly . "all inclusive " is Totally bogus - just includes a few poor quality wines. Everything else, you have to pay for.
Service is good in some areas & ...
We have cruised since 1995 each year. We were sold this cruise as a luxury cruise and it was anything but....poor service in the dining room as well as very poor trained staff. Wife insulted by server and water spilled in lap. Shop attendants bored and non attentive; products about twice as much as in shops here. Children running up and down the halls unsupervised at 01:00 hours and all ship ...
I had great hopes after reading reviews on this company. what I found is that my husband and I are not a "good fit" for Crystal. On this trip while the passengers were nice we were younger than most of them who had been on numerous cruises with Crystal some from when Crystal was started. The atmosphere to me is one of a "Country Club" with the majority of the cruisers being well educated repeat ...
This ship and its Japanese owners are throwbacks to the days of when restaurants, hotels, theaters, airplanes and office buildings permitted smoking, either in segregated areas or throughout, and non smokers silently suffered. The world standards have changed but barely Crystal.
This is the only cruise line left afloat that still allows smoking in staterooms. So the smoke from the smokers ...
My wife and I just returned from our first cruise on the Crystal Symphony. We departed from NYC to Newport, RI, Boston, Halifax, St. John, Quebec and Montreal. Embarkation was a breeze....10 minutes from exiting the taxi to boarding the ship. The Symphony is a beautiful medium sized ship for less than 1000 passengers. Our balcony cabin deck 9 was midship...very small but beautifully ...
Embarcation/Transfer:
We arrived into JFK at 17:30 on embarcation day. Used Crystal's transfer service, which is offered at the reasonable fare of $60.00 per person. We were to only passengers transferred on that flight ...so we had a stretch limo to ourselves from the airport to the ship. Nice way to begin the trip. In retrospect we should have planning to arrive into NYC the day before so ...
I may be unfairly comparing this, my first cruise with Crystal with my recent (and first and only) Alaska cruise on the Regent Seven Seas Navigator. I traveled alone on Crystal Symphony, as my spouse was in Africa on safari, whereas we were together on the Regent Alaska cruise. The port calls to smaller towns in Alaska had a very different feel from those to major cities on the Crystal cruise, and ...
CRYSTAL SYMPHONY NEW ENGLAND/CANADA CRUISE Sept. 17 - 28, 2005 Richard Shipman
BACKGROUND
The time had come. After more than 10 cruises on "mainstream" lines such as Royal Caribbean, Princess and Holland America, it was time to move up a notch to Crystal. Not that there was anything wrong with our previous cruises; to the contrary. However, over the years the ships have gotten more crowded, ...
