Celebrity Summit Not At Its Peak

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Celebrity Summit

Admittedly it’s been a few years since my last cruise using the same cruise line, Celebrity Cruises, but things are apparently different now. I have heard that the Summit is used as a training vessel, and talking with staff this was their first cruise. Everyone has to start somewhere. However, there seemed to be a notable lack of coordination of simple services, like getting a cup of tea, and a ...

Terribly disappointed

My husband and I are very experience cruisers and this cruise was chosen because it departed and returned from Port Liberty and made i a very easy cruise for us New Yorkers. There was not one area in which this ship excelled others we have been on, including the Holland America, the Queen Mary II (Cunard) and Crystal. First of all,the pool was the least inviting part of the ship. If you look at ...

A Cruise Ship Searching for an Identity

We are avid and happy cruisers. This was our 8th cruise and having never sailed Celebrity, we were lead to believe that Celebrity would provide us with an experience that would be a cut-above other premium cruises. In reality, it was a huge disappointment. In general, the Summit is a rather generic cruise ship with average cabins and facilities that struggle to cope with its number of passengers. ...

This was our 8th cruise on the 5th different cruise line (Carnival, RCL, NCL and Holland America). It was our 20th anniversary cruise and I was really excited to try Celebrity because RCL is probably our overall favourite line and Celebrity is supposed to be a notch higher. While it was certainly a nice ship with all the amenities, I was disappointed that some things were the same or not even up ...

I booked this cruise for three reasons. 1. I was excited to spend time with friends, 2. I had never sailed on Celebrity before, 3. I had never visited Bermuda. This was my 13th cruise, and I consider myself somewhat of an expert on what should and should not happen on a cruise ship. Let me start by saying that I found embarkation and boarding the ship pretty much identical to what I've ...

The Summit is a lovely ship. The pictures that I had seen of it don't do it justice. It is tastefully decorated and seems immaculately clean. My DW and I were looking forward to the cruise. We had previously had four cruises on Norwegian, three on Princess and one on Royal Caribbean. We drove from Ohio across Interstate 80 and got to Elizabeth in about 8 hours. It was a nice road and a beautiful ...

We were booked on a 7 night cruise form Bayonne but this was delayed because of hurricane Irene. Celebrity gave us very little information and we did not know until the first evening of our cruise how we could be compensated - was $300 per stateroom (concierge class), we believe different classes received differing compensation awards. However, this did not cover our expenses for hotel and food ...

Disappointing

Ship is showing it's age. Furnishings are a bit threadbare (and I was in Concierge Class) . Peeling rails, stained decks and carpets. Constantly wandering repair crews fixing things. Food worse compared to other (cheaper) cruises I have been on - generally tasteless meats, meals and deserts with a few good exceptions. Ate at Normandine restaurant. Excellent service, good wines, ok food. ...

Embarkation in New Jersey, Cape Liberty was very difficult. We were not prepared to take a shuttle bus to the ship from the port. Arrived at about 1pm. Very slow process. Took nearly 30 minutes of standing in line to get on board.Disorganized staff at port. First port was Rhode Island. We were tendered on the life boats. Extremely bad weather. Debated about skipping the port and then decided to ...
