Starting from Cape Liberty, the embarkation process was a nightmare. We spent over 2 hours in an Uber less than a mile from the ship trying to get to the terminal. There were 2 college-aged "Traffic Enforcers" who did not but let the traffic back up for miles. Once we got to the terminal everything finally began flowing smoothly with the exception of the overcrowded security lines.
During the ...
My wife and I scheduled this cruise as a convenient and varied way to spend time with her mother. While getting on and off the ship should have been a breeze, it was very smooth boarding and transferring from the airport, but disembarkation was a nightmare: no taxis for 45 minutes while hundreds of us stood in the rain waiting. Sigh … it wasn't RCCL's fault, but they come and go from Bayonne ...
I just got off yesterday and DO NOT recommend it.
I have been on a number of cruises and this was my 1st RC cruise, so I am unsure whether the ship or the company (or both) is poorly run, but my guess (based on the interactions prior to sailing with the website and 800 #) is that it is both.
About the food - it is not overall good, But the food in the main dining room is good and the ...
Shaving quality at every opportunity and charging ever more to put back what once was included, RC has raised the cost to a level that there are better options. Sad, we used to enjoy cruising but it is so pedestrian for the price. The food was bland, the lounge chairs uncomfortable, the ship outfitting low grade, the shows used silly story's, and the music avoided songs with royalties. They ...
We chose this ship as it appeared there was so much for my 10, 13 and 15yr olds to do onboard. First, there were no poolside or ship activities for kids to do- no children in our group wanted to spend the days inside at “camp” playing dodgeball everyday without the option to swim or experience other kids activities. This ship needs hair braiding, henna tattoos pool games, giveaways and other ...
Affordable cruise to purchase until you are inside, fees that prior cruises where included so bring extra money. They charge even for cotton candy and popcorn. They told me the childcare was free and it’s not is from 6 to 8 per hour, we called Royal Caribbean costumer service and they keep saying the wrong information. Food quality it’s really bad so bring extra for the dinner package so you can ...
on the first day, we were barricaded in the balcony stateroom due to ship employees blocking the door which opens outward, with suitcases. called guest service only to be on hold for 30+ minutes, and ended up forcing door open to get out for " safety video" and injured hand. to this day, guest services would not comment on the issue and still waiting to hear back from royal.
food in buffet was ...
I have cruised with RCL at least 15 cruises. Every cruise has become more onboard revenue driven. It has gotten to the point where you can’t enjoy breakfast or lunch without staff approaching you trying to sell you premium restaurants, spa treatments or as on the last cruise foot analysis. First the flowers and fruit in the rooms were taken (no big deal) then the robes, next pens and paper, and ...
Very limited variety of food. The temperature of the food is way off. On a few occasions we found lipstick marks on the "clean" cups. Very crowded with lines for everything. Cabins are small and very uncomfortable. the Sofa bed for 3rd person is very hard to sleep on. The stateroom service is OK, but you always have to ask them for shampoo or glasses etc. Bad attitude from some members of the ...
A mostly disappointing cruise, though after adding the pluses and minuses it did provide another learning experience which we’ll use to good advantage the next time we sail.
Over the years my wife, admittedly, has been doing the heavy lifting on cruise research, bookings, etc. She’s been working the Cruise Critic boards for years, with great results. Until now I’ve been content with that ...
