My sister and I recently retired. The celebration was awesome, weather wasn't. It didn't damper our mood at all. Was a wonderful experience, between the cruisers and the staff. I never realized they are all merchant marines. Entertainers was well, entertaining. Loved John Bressler. Saw a few movies, which we never go to the movies. Met a lot of fun people and heard interesting stories. I am trying to talk my husband into going next year. Had a fun, relaxing trip with my best friend. The only issue I had and no control over was Bonaire beaches. No beache but beautiful clear scuba divers paradise. Enjoyed lobster dinner, twice. Wish I had more time to meet the group of cruise critics though. They sang God Bless America while passing the New York skyline. So emotional considering I am from New York. Hope to meet you all again if my circumstances allow it. Read Less

I was presently surprised by how exceptional the food was on this ship. The buffets were the best on any line we have sailed, (Celebrity, Holland America and Norwegian). Variety was unbelievable. We had traditional dining, early seating, and it was wonderful. Food plentiful, great variety and expertly prepared. Deserts to die for. Wait staff wonderful. We were actually able to have a conversation and hear each other not like on our last cruise on the Celebrity Summit, where you had to read lips. The Crown Grill was exceptional and well worth the surcharge. You could order as many lobster tails as you could eat. This wasn't the same on our last Holland America cruise where they wanted you to pay extra for additional food. The Piazza entertainment was excellent. The singers and dancers were great. Sometimes difficult to get into the theather because of the number of people on the ship but after a day or two, they added a third performance to accommodate all that wanted to attend. Not nuch going on at the pool deck in the evening other than the movie on the giant screen, which surprised me. The restaurants near the Piazza were fabulous. Great pizza to order and no charge. Light breakfast and lunch super. Drinks on the ship reasonably priced. Overall a great cruise. Read Less

After a nightmare air travel experience from London to NYork, courtesy United Airlines, we finally sought sanctuary on our home for 10 nights, on board our wonderful Caribbean Princess. We had wonderful memories of our 3 back to back cruises in Apr/May/June this year and we were soon settled in our balcony cabin, to savour the wonderful skyline of N York City as we commenced our journey. We were soon reunited with our wonderful waitress, Criselda, who had given us such perfect service and she looked after us again for this cruise too. Our cabin was very comfortable and our dining experience well up to expectation. The highlight of our entertainment was AJ Clarke, who was the perfect entertainer in the Crooner's Bar - he needs a bigger venue to accommodate his faithful worshippers!! Our ports of call were of relatively short duration, which was a pity, but we made the most of them. For both financial and health reasons, we rarely take organised excursions from the ship, not knowing from one day to the next how we feel about taking an organised trip ashore. The cruise was everything we had hoped for and Princess will certainly have our custom again - thank you everybody.   Read Less

We, my wife and I just completed a 10 day cruise on the Caribbean Princess, sailing from New York and docking in Houston Tx. My comments on the Caribbean Princes are not as glowing as other reviews. I found the condition of the ship to be dated and worn. Carpets were showing wear, there were places where the wall paper was hanging loose, woodwork showed gouges from staff running carts into it, the exterior of the ship was not much better, lots of rust expecially around the hole where the anchor was stored. The library is a joke and the reading room is a rumor. The dining room (palm) was a comedy of errors, our waitress was late the first night, and kept trying to apologize all evening, she even got down on her knees begging to be forgiven. We were given the wrong menus twice, wrong soup delivered, the waitress kept asking if she was forgiven this was for 3/4 days, quite embaressing. The ship staff was somewhat cool, that goes along with the cold feeling overall. The captian could hardly be understood over the PA system. Now the good. Our cabin steward was excellent as was the casino staff. If we had been first time cruisers we would probably not sail with princess again. We will not sail on the Caribbean Princess again. Read Less

This was a well needed, and awesome 10 day vacation on a beautiful ship with a fantastic crew. We cruised with another couple and all 4 of us had a wonderful time. Having sailed over 20 cruises, (Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, RCI, Norwegian) we’re glad to say that we really haven't had a bad one yet! From start to finish Princess had a well organized embarkation and disembarkation. We arrived in NY (JFK) from Boston at 10:30 and took the Princess airport transfers to the ship. We were on the bus at JFK by noon and arrived at the Brooklyn terminal 1 hr later. (I must say how fortunate we were because on route to the terminal, the bus was cut off on the highway by a hit and run driver. The crash caused the bus windshield to crack and ripped off the left side headlights and bumper! The driver of the car took off, and fortunately the bus was able to continue to the cruise terminal. (lucky for us no one was hurt) We arrived at the cruise terminal and on board within 15 minutes. Our rooms were ready, so we dropped off our baggage and proceeded to the Lido deck for lunch. (as crowded as it was, after a few minutes we found a table for 4) lunch was very good. Room: Our room was just right. I love that Princess has lots of storage areas, and that the closet area is separate from the main room which allows you space to dress. (I never miss a sunrise while cruising (I’m up at 5:30am and can get dressed in that space without disturbing my sleeping husband) The bathroom is small but not too bad. We were on the Caribe deck and had a wonderful balcony (half open and half covered). My husband and I found the bed very comfortable to sleep in. Our room steward did a great job keeping it clean and after requesting 2 wine glasses, he made sure we had 2 fresh wine glasses every day. Dining: Breakfast We ate most mornings in the Lido buffet area. No complaints for us. Loved their sunny side up eggs (already made so no waiting) and Belgium waffles, and they had plenty of items to choose from. There was also an omelet area where you put in your order and they would call you when ready (meanwhile you could get the remaining breakfast food you wanted) Honestly, I don’t understand how people have complained about the buffet, they really serve almost every item you can imagine, and it was always fresh. Lunch Sometimes at the Lido, (many varieties of food) great salads, and we also enjoyed going to the International Cafe’ in the main lobby for their awesome sandwiches and delectable chicken salad. (Waldorf style with apples and cashews!....so good) I think my favorite spot for lunch was here!! We also ate at the Crown Grill for lunch (it was "ok”) and main dining room, which was also good. I'd like to note that the pizza was the BEST onboard pizza around! Dinner We had 1st sitting Coral Dining room. We had a table for 4 (table #303 w/ocean view) But what made this table the BEST were our waiters Michael and Misa. We felt at home the instant we sat down. They made our meals so enjoyable and fun. The four of us found the food to be exquisite. Usually when I’m on a cruise for 7 to 10 days, by the 5th day it all starts to taste the same....Not on this trip. It was a 10 day cruise and we were all delighted that each meal was enjoyable. Kudos to the Master chef on the Caribbean Princess. Coffee - International Cafe’ My husband purchased a coffee card which entitles you to 15 specialty coffees and fresh coffee, premium teas all day/night long. This was well worth the price (you can order the card before your cruise (Item #524 for $31.00) this includes free hot chocolate too. Entertainment We went to most of the shows. They were very good. Funny comedian, an astonishing magician, and a great male vocalist (who sounded like Barry Manilow). Casino - machines were pretty tight. Thought they should have a least 2 more black jack tables, as it was hard finding a seat, especially after dinner. Itinerary A bit disappointed that our original itinerary changed. I booked this cruise mainly for the stops that were originally posted. After several months Aruba (our favorite stop) was cancelled and changed to Curacao...this was a big letdown. Another disappointment was our stop to Grand Turks was cut short by 4 hours. (we were originally scheduled to leave at 4pm, around 2 months before the cruise we were informed we would have to leave at 12:30pm) 2 changes to our itinerary and we haven’t even left yet! When I called Princess to ask why, they told me "they didn’t need to give me a reason” "They can cancel ports at anytime” according to the contract we sign when we originally booked. I told her I was aware of that and through my experiences the only time we’ve missed a port was due to weather (dangerous docking conditions, etc.) which is all understandable. I was discouraged with customer service (even spoke w/a supervisor who was quite rude when discussing this.) I was just curious as to why these stops had to be changed all of a sudden. (I’m close to believing that this was false advertising, and once everyone was locked into booking things were changed) Our stops to Grand Turks was nice, we love it there, just cut short. Curacao: we took a bus to Mambo beach and enjoyed the refreshing water. Grand Cayman: great beach day too, took a taxi to 7 mile beach) Cozumel: it rained (poured) for several hours so we had to cancel our trip to the beach and just shopped. All and all this was a great ship and vacation. The crew was fantastic and went out of their way to help. I love the several pools onboard and the fact I could always find a comfy chair by one of those pools. You won’t be disappointed with the Caribbean Princess. (I just hope that if I sail with Princess again, the itinerary will not change unless there’s a good reason.) Read Less
