Perhaps it is me, but as a seasoned cruiser who has been with many cruise lines, including the Carnival group, I had never been with Cunard. I just expected more than average, but I have had better service and better food on some other ships.
We did a transatlantic 7 day crossing from NYC to Southampton with a sheltered balcony cabin on Deck 5. The bed was fabulous, the best I have had on a ...
My husband and I wanted to get away and relax after a very busy and medically challenging year. He had never been on Cunard before but I had and highly recommended it. We wanted to leave from NYC, unpack once, enjoy the crossing, the fjords of Norway, our one day in France and the return trip to NYC. To make this trip even more special, we selected a room on the Princess Grill level, a room we ...
Sailing the QM2 was a bucket list dream. Unfortunately it wasn’t a dreamy experience.
Firstly, embarkation was time consuming but easy.
Our cabin was in remarkably good shape - no complaints there except the bathroom was dingy and needs an overhaul. Our cabin attendant though needs more training; we had a rattling noise start during our first night. We spoke to him about it the next day ...
I just got off the Queen Mary 2 on a 7-Day New York to Canada and return cruise. I must say I had great expectations for this cruise. However they were squashed immediately with the four and a half hour embarkation line at Brooklyn terminal. Lots of finger pointing going around as to why it took so long needless to say there was no first day at sea, no first evening dinner, no afternoon sail away, ...
We had booked the TA from New York to Civitavecchia for both 2020 and 2021. Of course, COVID interrupted those plans, so we were finally able to cruise in 2023. The crew, entertainment and food all delivered as did the itinerary. However, the design of the ship left a lot to be desired. While the Boardwalk and Dining Venues were terrific, the Atrium was overused every day for live music, games ...
Booked a transatlantic fm NYC to Rome. The ship (Breakaway) is in need to major cleaning and updating. Food in complimentary restaurants, while plentiful, is bland and not usually very hot. Specialty restaurants a little better, but meals can take up to 3 hrs to complete. Even specialty menus are limited and not enticing. Onboard entertainment mediocre, don’t expect broadway quality talent. ...
This was my second time on the Gem. Despite the ship's fanbase, I'm still on the fence about it's allure. The floorplan is not always user friendly, and advances to the industry since its launch seem clumsily and sometimes illogically squeezed into the deckplans. Still, it has its charms, mostly found in its initmacy.
Cabins on deck 4 are subject to being the exit / entrance level for some ...
I chose this Crossing because it was Cunard's annual Crossing with the British National Orchestra. At Southampton, I stayed on the ship and went to northern Norway and back for another 13 days on the ship. So, I was on board the QM2 for 20 days as a solo traveler. I was in a different stateroom for the Norway portion of my journey. This Crossing with the orchestra was memorable, and I am glad ...
Summary first: In short, we had value for money even with the added cost of the Premium package as we could drink proper champagne and ‘Whispering Angel’ Cotes de Provence rose wine throughout the voyage. There were some positives but also negatives with this cruise such that we wouldn’t book a Princess cruise again.
The cabin was excellent (mini suite) with a very good layout having the sofa ...
The two of us would not normally chose to book on a Carnival ship line because of their nickel and dime business model. But their transatlantic service is a Cunard specialty and, if you have the time, cruising is at least as plush as a business class flight and at about the same price. We’d recommend it for that reason alone.
We were in a Britannia Club cabin meaning we ate in the Britannia ...
