We have sailed on NCL before- last year on the Gem to the Bahamas. That trip was lovely- the boat was smaller and not as modern, but the overall experience was better. Getting on and off the ship was easy- unfortunately, the called “last call” for our check out at 7:40- when our check out was 8:30-9:00- so we rushed- and that was the issue. My wife and I sail every 4th of July week due to employment. We choose to embark in New York as it is an easy 4 hour ride to port from North of Boston. Choose this for the length of cruise, time of year, and the ports. The ship was very nicely decorated and had a lot to do, but just too overcrowded. We stopped going to buffet because of not much choice and too long of a line. All of Deck 9 was just too crazy including the pools. Refurbished- added passenger capacity for several hundred more passengers. Ship could not physically accommodate the increased number of people. Lines at buffet were 30 minutes long. Swimming was impossible-pools were so crowded you only had room to stand. Insufficient number of crew,who were poorly trained and unmotivated. Apparently the main objective of Carnivals transformation of the Triumph into the Sunrise was to increase their revenue and the customer be damned. While some welcome amenities were added, more of the focus of the renovation was apparently devoted to additional cabins than to passenger amenities.

We were on an Ultra Casino event on the Carnival Sunrise June 24-July 2
Quick to process, on board by 11:30 am
Pig and Anchor very good on deck 10-still don't have water/lemonade/ice tea there.
In cabin 7372 inside-plenty of room, love the usb ports. Close to mid/aft stairs and elevators.
Comedy shows were great-could always get in, sometimes had to stand.

Do not book a cruise on Sunrise!!
The positives: The Flying Scotsman; family memories, Java Blue coffee shop, debarkation, free laundry (pay machine was broken)
Negatives:
Smell of sewage throughout ship
Cabin bathrooms smell of urine
