Said on the Norwegian Escape out of NYC on Oct 14. Had a great time. We were in a minisuite on Deck 11 (11226) The view sailing down the Hudson River and out of the bay was totally worth it. I highly recommend sailing out of NYC at least once. Thermal Spa Pass: We got Thermal Spa Passes the day they went on sale and it was totally worth it. I highly recommend it. We used the spa in the morning (wouldn’t get crowded until about 10:30am and then in the evening. Quiet times. Hydrotherapy was nice and so were all the lounges. Tried the snow room, salt room, sauna and steam rooms but didn’t stay in those long. Just nice to have a quiet place to relax. Overall impression of the ship: Even though there were over 4000 people it never seemed crowded. The only odd thing is everything seemed compartmented. There wasn’t any general main open space inside. For example on the Norwegian Sun the main guest services area had several levels and stairways going above it. The guest services area and atrium seemed very small. Farther down that deck was a stairwell near the casinos and stores and seemed small. Cabins seemed dated - at least the decor. For being such a new ship, I would have thought the decor, color, etc.. would seem newer and more modern. Looked like a tired old ship. I wish all shows were free, and all the speciality restaurants were free. Just seemed like a lot of extra costs for things. We had taken the 3 speciality meal and 250 internet plans. Both times the spa treatments shorted me on time. My facial was supposed to be 50 minutes and it was 10 minutes short. The person told me it was because I didn’t need any extractions. I paid for 50 minutes I should get it. Same with a massage, I swear I was shorted about 5 minutes. I should get the time I paid for. I remember on another ship my time was short and I complained and got a partial refund. Another passenger mentioned how she thought all the areas around the ship seemed small and compartmented. Theaters seemed small for a ship that size. I know they can’t build a 4000 seat theater but they seemed small. Secret spots/tips about the ship: Deck 7 – nice quiet empty place to walk and watch the sunset. Walk forward all the way near the front near the shuffleboard area. Food buffet – quiet spot to eat: Just outside on the left under the water slides. Always pretty empty While everyone rushed off the ship as soon as we docked, we ate at the buffet and leisurely ate and eventually left the ship with no crowds at all. Cabin: We stayed in 11226, a mini suite on the left side on the 11th deck. Nice sized bathroom. Enough storage area. Mid ship. Murugan was a steward and was always very friendly and nice. At first we had trouble finding the main switch for the light in the bathroom and cabin but realized it was under the compartment to put your key card in. We had brought a hotel car to put in the slot, but to save electricity we always pulled it out when we left the cabin. Arrival: We arrived at the Pier and found the porters who took our bags. They gave us new tags and the one guy said the paper ones are worthless. We arrived about 9:30am and the security line seemed long but got significantly longer after we arrived. It seemed like it didn’t open until 10am but once it opened it moved fast. I thought it was very organized. After security, lines were separated by Deck and the first line was a form about being sick. Then a short line to get our picture taken, show our passport and get boarding card. Didn’t seem like a long wait but we could still see people leaving the ship from the previous cruise. We were boarding group 10. The announcement kept saying we would be called by boarding group and the doors were in the middle, but a worker came by and announced our boarding crew in person and took us to the other end of the ship to board. Went to O’Sheehan’s for lunch (don’t listen to the announcements or the person at the check in who said the only place open for lunch was the buffet). When we walked up to O’Sheehans they were serving lunch and seemed pretty full even though it was just before the opening hours. Nachos weren’t great but the rest of the food was good. After lunch we walked around the ship, signed up for a behind the scenes tour and went up to see the spa. Had the 3 meal speciality dining plan and had reservations at Tepanyaki that first evening for 5:45pm. The food was good except the rice. Not sure how an Asian restaurant can mess up on the rice but they can. It lasted until about 7:05pm. Had made a massage appointment that evening so went up to the spa for that. The person who gave me the massage was nice but at the end recommended products of course. Day 2: Ate breakfast at the buffet and then spent the morning at the Thermal spa. Went to the cruise critic meet and greet and then had lunch at the buffet. The buffet was crowded and food wasn’t that great but a variety of choices. I went to the pamper party for women. It was nice, got to try each product they were trying to sell and had discount on some items. Didn’t buy anything but it was one of the fun activities. Compared to other ships, this cruise didn’t have many interesting activities. The waterfront is a nice and quiet area and lots of seating areas to sit, talk or read and enjoy the ocean. We tried Savor for dinner, but it was slow service, the choices weren’t that great and neither was the food. Didn’t go to Taste and didn’t go back to Savor. Used the thermal spa in the evening. It’s open until 10pm so it’s quiet and almost empty in the evenings. Day 3: Didn’t do anything special. Used the thermal spa in the morning and evening. Went to see Choir of Man that evening. Excellent show and I thought the food was good. I had read comments the food was awful but it wasn’t. I wish they just would have the show without the food and not charge extra. Day 4: Sat at the H20 deck for awhile, although it got very crowded with almost no seats available. Had lunch at Margaritaville (a speciality restaurant) and it was one of the best meals we had on the ship. The fish tacos were really good. Finally arrived in Bermuda that evening at 6pm. Saw the Brat Pack show that evening. Another good show. Walked up about 5 minutes before it started and there were plenty of seats. Only issue were people who talked through most of the show. I don’t understand why people see shows and just talk which is rude to everyone around them. A couple near us had brought a baby and the baby didn’t make a peep and was quieter than some adults. Had signed up for the night cruise via the ship. It was excellent and I recommend it. I think it left at 9pm and was a lot of fun. Glad we signed up for it, as the ocean was too rough the next evening and our sunset cruise was canceled. Day 5: A few months before the cruise I had contacted a private taxi driver that was recommended on this board. We had booked him for a 4-5 hour tour. I emailed him a week before the cruise and confirmed he was still available. He said he was. We went to the pier and he never showed up. Even a couple pier workers who knew him tried a couple times to call and he never answered. I eventually got an email from him later that day and he apologized and said the Escape had changed it’s itinerary so many times in the last month and he said it wasn’t on the schedule. I just wonder how dozens of other taxi drivers and tour guides knew about the ship being in port, they showed up at the pier. It was raining just as we got off the ship and part of the day but eventually stopped and cleared up. **Luckily while waiting, a mini bus service driver was advertising a tour of the island. We joined a couple and so glad we did. He was a great tour guide, friendly person and it cost us half the price of what we were originally going to pay. ($60 each) He drove us all over the island, to St. George, stop in Hamilton, the forts, lighthouse, near the airport and even a stop at Horseshoe Bay. **I recommend Tucker’s Transport Ltd – 504-6657 or rtucker@transact.bm ** Afterwards we came back and walking around the stores and ate at a good restaurant right near the pier. Good food, especially after eating cruise ship food for several days. As I mentioned because of the rough seas, the catamaran sunset cruise was canceled. Friday: Went to Horseshoe Bay. Normally I don’t get excursions through the ship as private excursions are normally cheaper and better. I know it’s cheaper to take a taxi or the bus to Horseshoe bay but because we were leaving that day and we were worried of an accident or issues on the roads, we booked the transportation via the ship to Horseshoe Bay. It was easy and convenient. We left at 9am and then had to meet the bus back at 12:20pm. It was a 30 minute bus ride each way. The driver pointed out sights and stopped at spots for good pictures. Walked down towards the coves and found a quiet almost empty area and went swimming. Walked down a path and then found other paths down to the water. I recommend walking away from the entrance and the crowds. I don’t understand why people all huddle near the entrance of the beach. The beach has a bar, food service and small gift ship. Ate lunch at O’Sheehans. Service was really bad this day. We ordered appetizers and never got them. The table next to us first was never waited on, and although they arrived before us they were still waiting for their food when we left after finishing ours. After we got our food we never saw the waitress again. Went to the atrium and watched the Cruise Next presentation. Saw the show “After Midnight” and it was probably the best show we saw on the ship. Highly recommend it. Saturday: Took the behind the scenes tour. Elsyabeth was our guide and she was friendly and informative. We were offered to take a photo in the kitchen with a chef’s hat and holding some item. We didn’t realize by declining the photo we wouldn’t receive the folder with the Escape photo and us. Had lunch at the buffet in our quiet spot to eat outside. Spent a couple hours at the Thermal spa again. Due to the fact we were going through a storm and the ocean had waves at 11 feet, the hydrotherapy pool seemed like a wave pool. Had dinner at Moderno that evening and that was probably the best food of the whole ship. Salad bad had so many choices I could have eaten the whole dinner at the salad bar. Meats and side dishes were good too. Highly recommend. Sunday/Disembarkation: Got up early, went up to the buffet soon after it open, so it wasn't crowded yet. Got the color to disembark with our own baggage at the latest time. Took the elevator up and just stayed on when it went back down (otherwise the elevator was packed). Easy to get off. Customs line wasn't even very long and got to Penn Station by 9:15am. Read Less

This is my 4th time sailing with Norwegian, this is by far the prettiest boat I’ve been on. I went with my husband it was our first time traveling to Bermuda. Our cabin was gorgeous and bigger than i expected we booked an ocean view in the 5th floor, we had lots of space for us two even got a separate little livin room area with a sofa and 2nd tv! Plenty of restaurants and things to do on the boat if your okay with paying extra which kinda sucks. We skipped out on a few activities due to all the extra costs. Many shows are reservations only so I suggest reserving shows and dinner in advance online to save yourself time and the possibility of shows being full which they do. Tip plan your days as soon as you get the freestyle, many events overlap so pick what you really want to do and set your timers to avoid disappointment. Really big boat lots of people things get full quick. Unfortunately this trip was cut short and we arrived to Bermuda at 6pm instead of the usual 8am which really messed up some plans, and only gave us one full day of exploring. Bermuda is gorgeous, though it was windy and rained on a off, the sun peaked out every so often. Horseshoe bay is definitely a must see just don’t book through Norwegian take the 7 dollar mini bus right at the end of the pier. Made the mistake of paying 90 with Norwegian for 2 hrs at the beach than 14 roundtrip for however long i wanted. The Bermuda Triangle Cruise was lots of fun also. If you walk up the pier past the bone fish bar there’s an little spot with benches and free WiFi. Number one thing on this boat is The staff. They are amazing I have never had as many friendly and welcoming staff on a boat. Savor dinning room is a must ask to be seated with Santiago he is the funniest most caring guy you’ll meet. He treated us and all his guest like family. Really took care of us and went above and beyond. Read Less

I wanted to sail on one of the new big ships and the Escape fit this bill. With outside dining and beautifully designed rooms it was wonderful. The food is a big improvement over some of the smaller ships. This trip went to Bermuda and we were there for parts of three days. So it was a more restful itinerary than others where you are in a different port every day. Bermuda was beautiful with pink sand beaches and lovely people. No hustle no hassle compared to some Caribbean Islands. You can rent scooters and travel the island. St Georges is a UNESCO site and is a charming seaside village that you can walk around and see forts and visit lovely beaches. The weather rained a little but cleared up most of the time. I would visit Bermuda again and spend more time. Hats off to NCL for a great ship and a wonderful itinerary. Read Less

I was told that NCL was a great Cruise line and I would like it for the Freestyle type ship. I LOVED it. My fiance and I had a wonderful time. The staff was so friendly and polite and always willing to help. They remembered us by name which to me is a miracle with all of the people on board. The ship itself was so beautiful and clean. The cabin was great. We did 3 specialty dining nights and everyone of them were amazing. Moderno the Brazillian Restaurant was by far our favorite though. The Levity Comedy Group was by far the best Ive seen, they had us laughing for days.. The shows on board were out of this world. We had a blast watching the Cruise director and her staff entertain the guests. The public restrooms were always spotless. The spa was amazing also. I would highly recommend this ship and NCL for that matter!! Read Less

Wanted to visit Bermuda for years and finally decided Norwegian was the way to go. We have been on other cruise lines, on the recommendation of our son, we choose Norwegian. Found the ship was beautiful and not hard to find your way throughout the ship. Freestyle dining was wonderful. Elegant dining available or cafeteria dining if you wish. The Manhattan room had live music and a dance floor, food was wonderful.O'sheehan's Irish Pub had delicious hot wings and reuben sandwiches !!Dress is smart cruise attire or comfortable depending on your dining option, Enjoyed the entertainment in the atrium at night and through the day. After Midnight was a great show. The entire staff was friendly and accomodating. Port in Bermuda was beautiful and clean. Shore excursions available from the ship or right at the pier. Room was roomy enough for 2 and bed was so comfortable. .We would travel Norwegian again for sure !! Read Less

1 = This is our 23rd Cruise: 17 on Carnival + 5 on NCL + 1 on Celestyal. When our 3 kids were small we enjoyed cruising on Carnival = THE FUN SHIP. However, now that our kids are all grown up we have migrated to cruising on NCL. The biggest attraction to NCL is the Free Style Dining; not to mention that the Customer Service on NCL, throughout the various ranks of Employees is exceptional. Furthermore, the food choices are delightful and the Shows are spectacular. We like crusing NCL so much, that we purchased 4 CruiseNext Deposits on this cruise. 2 = Our favourite NCL Hero on this Cruise was Manuel Santos – Assistant Maitre’D in the Manhattan Dining Room, which we had Dinner 6 out of the 7 nights. From the very 1st night that we dined in the Manhattan Room, we had the pleasure of being served by Manuel & his great Team. We always requested a table under Manuel’s domain, and if we weren’t lucky to get one, we made it a point to let Manuel know where we were sitting, and he would always come over to talk with us. Manuel is an outstanding ambassador for NCL. His “above & beyod” service always with a smile, makes us want to cruise with NCL all the time. We looked forward to seeing Manuel every evening for dinner and were so impressed with his service and attention for detail at the Manhattan Dining Room, as well as the Garden Café. Opportunity for NCL to Improve with the following items/areas: 1. Have a notice at the Manager’s Desk of the Internet Café alerting all users that the Printer connected to the Computer Stations in the Internet Station will be disabled after 11:00 p.m. every evening. Therefore if you need to print any documents, make sure that you do so before 11:00 p.m. On the last evening of this Cruise, I went to the Internet Café at 11:30 p.m., so as to be able to print my Air Flight Boarding Passes, but was unsuccessful. I did send the documents to print, but nothing was coming out of the Printer. I did approach Guest Services at least 4 times to get this matter resolved, but on my last visit, Juan spoke to the Internet Café Manager = Robert (who was definitely not a happy camper in being disturbed this late, to deal with what was an important matter to me). Robert was rude in his tone of voice and he told Juan that the Printer is disabled after 11:00 p.m. I did ask Juan if it would be possible to send my Boarding Pass to one of the Guest Services Team Members, so as to have my Boarding Pass printed, but Juan said that no one in Guest Services had access to Internet!! I did visit the Internet Café in the morning, before getting off the ship to see if the Printer was connected, but no such luck. 2. After we disembarked off the ship at around 9:00 a.m. (Red Tag), it would be helpful to easily locate our baggage if there was a colour coded flag (red in our case) flying at each of the baggage drop off points. 3. After we disembarked off the ship at around 9:00 a.m. (Red Tag), and picked up our baggage, it would make our journey back home more bearable, if there were more US Customs Officers on duty. Only 5 (or 31.25%) of the total 16 Customs Stations were operational, whilst we were waiting in line to clear Customs. Surely for a ship of this size carrying almost 5000 Passengers, one would want to clear out all these passengers in a timely manner! 4. Regarding the operations of O’Sheenan's 24/7 Restaurant, I would like to hear the reason for the undeclared change in policy of not being allowed to take our food from this Restaurant. I had no trouble taking out food from the O’Sheenans when I travelled on the EPIC & STAR in 2016. The Maitre’D on duty would not give me a reason, other that the Policy had changed and he said that he would guide me to a table to order food. Surely there is a bigger problem/challenge of monitoring the food being taken out of the Garden Café to all different places of the ship! This change in Policy does not line up with NCL’s mantra of FREE STYLE DINING!!!! When I eat out at Restaurants and I have left overs, I’m allowed to take home the left overs for the meal that I paid for. 5. Regarding the size of spoons available at the Garden Cafe, I’m puzzled that for eating Cereal, as well as ice-cream the offered size of spoon is that of a serving-spoon. I am accustomed to eating my cereal with a table-spoon, and ice-cream with a teaspoon. As such, it would be nice if you would have a canister/basket with both table-spoons & teaspoons readily available. When I ate in the Garden Café in the morning & at lunch time, I would always have to request for a teaspoon & then have to wait while the server would go back into the kitchen area to get me my teaspoon. 6. I’m puzzled that on Day-7 that the only alert regarding the need to turn our clocks back one hour, occurred as a TIP OF THE DAY in the Day-7 edition of the FREESTYLE DAILY. I think that one needs to make a bigger deal of this matter, along the lines of the efforts made when we had to turn our clocks forward one hour for Day-3. In the Day-2 edition of the FREESTYLE DAILY, the need to change our clocks forward occurred as a TIP OF THE DAY. In addition, we received a coloured alert tag in our Cabin to highlight that we were entering a different time-zone that mandated a change in our clocks. Furthermore there were announcements made of the PA regarding a change in time. 7. NCL needs to up its’ game regarding the Lattitudes Repeaters Party. Surely with all the amazing food available on the NCL-ESCAPE, one could certainly provide a great selection of snacks & not just Cheese & Crackers. On Carnival, they have a Trivial Pursuit set of games pertaining to the Carnival Fleet, with token prizes for the winners. 8. When I booked this Cruise I was under the impression that we were going to be docked in Bermuda for 3 full days. Sadly, we docked at 6:00 p.m. on Day-1 & set sail for new York at 3:00 p.m. on Day-3. Due to a medical emergency on our ship, the Captain cruised at the maximum 24Knots speed, so as to get us into Bermuda over 24 hours earlier than the expected time, so I'm not quite sure why NCL does not plan to allow us to spend more time in Bermuda. I know that a lot of passengers were disappointed with being somewhat short changed!e always requested a table under Manuel’s domain, and if we weren’t lucky to get one, we made it a point to let Manuel know where we were sitting, and he would always come over to talk with us. Manuel is an outstanding ambassador for NCL. His “Above & Beyond” service always with a smile, makes us want to cruise with NCL all the time. Ive sailed with NCL 6 times, and I was somewhat disappointed in this cruise. The food was really lacking in taste and temperature in the specialty restaurants, buffet and O'Sheehans. Main dining rooms were good with the exception of the uncomfortable chairs in Taste and Saver. The Choir of Man MEAL was down right awful and am disappointed I attended. The vegetables were not even cooked. Beef was terrible and so was dessert. The show however, was pretty good. Service was top notch throughout the cruise but it does not reverse or outweigh the negatives. The magic show in the theater was ok, I have seen better and worse fly on entertainment on NCL. The magic show was ok in the Supper Club, the meal was great however. La Cucina was nice even though I do prefer the old menu from a few week ago. Margaritaville, while great was costly for lunch. Smoking next to the pool on the top deck, not behind a barrier was uncalled for. I couldn't even walk past there or use the jogging track. What I was most disappointed in however was the maintenance of the ship. For being 3 years old, it did not hold up well at all. Menus covered in pen marks, lounge chairs falling apart, flooring worn out and cut up on the stairs (starboard side, near an upper deck) really took away from the experience. I was on the Getaway in September and that ship has faired far better. Like I said, overall the cruise was good but I'm glad this was my 4th NCL cruise of the year- this cruise would have left a lot to be desired. I will be back but I hope the quality of food improves and ships are maintained a little bit better. Read Less

This was our first time on the ESCAPE and the first time on this large of a ship. Way too many people for us. We will be going back to the smaller ships. WAY to many kids. A few suggestions for NCL- 1. Perhaps have a kids sections at the dining rooms so everyone doesn't have to listen to crying babies while trying to enjoy a nice dinner 2. Use the Main Theatre for events/gathering instead of the Atrium for everything- NOT enough seating and jams up the area-very frustrating MOST Events were held in the Atrium, very strange! 3. DON'T make people pre-book comedy shows etc. half the people don't even show up that book it and then the tickets are sold out and you have to get there 40 minutes ahead of time to wait in the standby line. Too much thinking ahead of time. People just arrive that want to go to the show, when it's full come back to another one. Once again the venues are WAY to small for the size of ship to many people having to stand at ALL the shows or turned away. Use the Theatre that is mostly never used at night Staff was very friendly, food was good, rooms were nice. It was a great trip just too many kids which we were surprised this time of year. Crystle Caves are a must for a tour- Do both! NCL is still our favorite cruise line! Read Less

The ship is very large with alot of people. This cruise we traveled with friends, not all liked the large ship. We travel out of the NY port which is very convenient for us living in Penna. One draw back on the ship is the Atrium is way too busy. I prefer a Martini bar which NCL has omitted from the newer ships. The martini bars were always out of the way of the crowd. The only place to get favored Martinis is at the Atrium where there is a lot of activities going on most of the time. So you can not relax very often at the Atrium bar. NCL has added a couple of other bars, where you can go for a quiet atmosphere. a wine bar and a brewhouse (beer). The stores on board had some nice products. We always like the specialty restaurants, mainly Le Bistro, Cagney's , and Teppanyaki. The mini-golf is always a draw for many people but is a fun activity for all. We were not able to enjoy all the shows but the ones we attended were enjoyable. Because we have been to this port before we did not take any excursions but walked around the port shops. The shops had a variety of items at mostly reasonable prices. The overall cruise was good and enjoyable. NCL has the best prices and ammenities for the price. The cabins have always been comfortable for us. I will continue to cruise with NCL (16 cruises and number 17 coming up) but do not like all the changes that have been made by the company. Read Less

I’ve cruised many lines, including Princess, Celebrity, Windstar, Paul Gauguin, RCCL, HAL & Crystal. I had heard so many accolades regarding Regent, & I was determined to try them. It’s been 6 months since our cruise (there were 4 of us, in 2 cabins), but my disappointment has not waned & I cannot see myself attempting another Regent cruise - at their prices, they were far below my expectations & not worthy of a repeat. — The cabins were wonderful, comfortable, & our attendant was also wonderful. — The main dining room was too brightly lit & it ruined the ambiance of a gracious evening. One night they lost power for a short time in the brightest lights & people cheered; when the brights came back on, you could hear the grumbling disappointment. We asked for dimmer lighting, but I suppose we were one of the few because that did not happen. It was bright like a MacDonalds, no exaggeration. The food was very good, the wait staff rushed with service varying accordingly. We had some kind of VIPs on board & it was pretty angering to watch the multiple staff tripping on themselves to serve them - while we sat unattended waiting. — The 2 specialty restaurants were both disappointments, in food & in service. All 4 of us agreed, our meals were poor. We complained about the meals in the steak restaurant & they apologized profusely, asked us to give them another try ... why would we try again when we couldn’t even eat the steaks? — The drinks were poor & I sent back a few of them. I also had to start asking for doubles and/or extra shots because they skimped on the alcohol. Even the martini olives were small! That may sound petty, but I enjoy a well made martini with great olives - which was not to be had on this ship ... nor a decent Old Fashion, nor a decent Manhattan. The bar staff were polite, but not friendly & after 10 days on the ship not one of them acted like they had ever seen us before, even when we greeted them by name & tried to engage them. — Most of the tours were terrible. We paid $150 per person extra (as best I recall) for a tour in Boston to the Kennedy Library. We arrived at the library later than had been expected by the guide & our time in the library was very rushed - so I didn’t enjoy what I had been looking forward to. Our tours on Bermuda were both terrible - one was on a sailboat that was too small for all the passengers & many of us sat uncomfortably on deck. Many sat packed into the well. There was never a discussion of safety or life jackets & if I had not sailed before I imagine I would’ve been scaired sitting against the mast on a flat deck, cutting through windy seas. The other Bermuda tour was 7 people packed into an RV & a drive-about. We ended up in the 3rd row of seats, with 3 of us tucked in, which meant that 2 of us half-sat on the wheel wells & the one in the middle was a sardine. We left that tour at the first stop & were thrilled to be out of that RV. A very disappointing cruise, for many reasons. This was definitely not the “luxury” I had anticipated, was far less luxurious than many other ships I’ve been on, and was way, WAY overpriced for what we received. Read Less

I have been a long time Regent cruiser and was concerned about the quality of service after the takeover by Norwegian. In October my wife and I took a 10-day cruise to Canada and then Bermuda. We found the staff as warm and friendly as in the past and the food was at least as good. The entertainment was moderate as I expect on a small ship, but the performers were enthusiastic. But… My wife uses a mobility scooter and transport chair which we brought on the cruise. The access to the pool deck and specialty restaurants was made especially difficult. Scooters had to navigate the lip between the corridor and deck and they created an extra barricade with an inclined plane to ease the scooter across the lip. But the plane did not slope to the ground but started with a two-inch vertical rise. To negotiate this the scooter had to be perpendicular to the rise and moving relatively fast. The problem was the stairwell was close to the deck access and there was little room for maneuvering. It was worse leaving the deck since the fast-moving scooter was headed toward the stairwell. A tense experience, to say the least. Leaving the ship in port was an adventure-in-itself. The gangway was set up in much the same way as the as access to the pool deck and disregards the needs of those who need mobility assistance. It took two crew members to move the scooter over the hump. The ship stayed in Bermuda for two days, the longest on the cruise. But none of the excursions were available to the mobility impaired -- even folding wheelchairs. This really did not matter since the gangway was steps rather than an incline. The crew offered to carry my wife and scooter down the steps, but we did not want to be singled out. Finally, the stress was too much and the scooter transmission was damaged. Half way through the cruise we filled out a questionnaire and we expressed these complaints. We were ignored. The changes that would have solved these problems were simple and inexpensive and the failure to implement these changes shows indifference, at best. Read Less

I had a great friend/family who was cruising for the 3rd time with Norwegian and invited my husband and I along with my sisters and their husbands to join them on the cruise. It was our first time cruising and I must say I had a blast. From the minute we boarded the ship to the morning of our last day on the ship I had a great time. All staff were so pleasant and welcoming. We loved it so much we made a down payment for our next cruise. The ship had a lot of activities every moment of the ship was an adventure. I enjoyed the entertainments especially the games. If you're a foodie like I am you will enjoy all the dining choices they provided. I went on an excursion with the Rising Son and had a blast. The tour guys were a great team. Their knowledge of the island's history and their interaction with us and making us 1st timers at snorkeling comfortable. Read Less

I’ve been on most of the major cruise lines on at least 12 or 15 cruises. This cruise ranks at the bottom of the list. And no one seems to care! I’ve been on at least 4 inaugural cruises with Holland America. I’ve been on numerous Carnival cruises. I’ve cruised on small ships and medium ships as well as large ships. The best part of the cruise was the show in the Supper Club - The Choir of Man. It was outstanding. But even that became an issue because I wasn’t allowed to see it a second time (but I found a way). The food was mediocre at best. Not until the last 2 nights did I get a piece of meat that was tender! I have lost a considerable amount of weight and my swim suits no longer fit. And I live in Oregon - hard to find swim suits in September in Oregon. No problem, I thought! We’re going to a tropical port so they’ll have them on the ship in the shops. WRONG! Not suit one! I’ve never been on a ship that didn’t have free internet access in an Internet cafe (or similar). They wanted $180 for one week access - outrageous! And there is much more. But suffice it to say that I will never cruise with Norwegian again. And I met many - and I mean MANY - who expressed the same sentiment! Norwegian - you have a problem! Read Less

We went on this cruise as a big group of 16 — each couple had their own room. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly — the crew seemed to have everything figured out there. The rooms were great — bigger and nicer than the Princess ship we had been on the year before, and the air conditioning worked well. The bathroom was pretty spacious as well. The ship itself was beautiful and well kept up. The entertainment was so-so, there were a decent amount of choices, but things got booked up so fast that we weren’t able to see a couple shows that we were hoping to. We loved the slides and zip line area, and my one year old LOVED the kid zip line area, so we did that every day. We also enjoyed the Bocce area, ball court, and mini-golf. The food was my big problem. It was not very good, and didn’t have very much variety. The Princess ship had AMAZING food, and each restaurant had different options. On the Norwegian Escape, most of the restaurants had the same menus as each other every night, and the buffet food was just meh. Then on the day we got to Bermuda, I got food poisoning from one of the restaurants the night before (Shrimp Alfredo is what did it, I believe), and I was not able to leave my room for an entire day — therefore I missed out on an entire day on Bermuda. Luckily and unluckily I was able to send my husband and toddler on the island to enjoy themselves. I proceeded to sleep/throw up/ etc all day, and when my husband got back that night, we went to the cruise desk and reported my sickness. In hindsight, we should have reported it earlier, but I did not think about it. But since we hadn’t reported it earlier, they didn’t believe us. They said that they could investigate it with the Dr, but by that point, a lot of my symptoms had gone. I just thought that I’d have to pay the ridiculous dr fee if we called, so that’s why we didn’t earlier. The maid for our room was very friendly and helpful, and the service staff at the help desk was friendly, just not overly helpful. We did have a couple other issues, like an unexplained charge on our account and the texting on-board app not working, and they refunded us our money for both. Unfortunately the food poisoning experience left a sour taste in my mouth (literally also), and I will not be going on another Norwegian Cruise because of it. It’s not worth it to me to be sick and miss out on half of the island days. Read Less

We selected this cruise as a special way to cope with empty nesting and turning 50! The preparation and planning really helped me through the changes going on in our life. I highly recommend planning a trip to ease through change. Traveling was my DH and his brother. We splurged on an aft balcony and his brother stayed in a solo cabin. We were all happy with our rooms. The ship was amazing! The staff was fun and friendly! Smiles everywhere loved seeing staff interact with each other, they seem to enjoy each other's company! We ate at cagney's twice, tappenyaki, food republic, pincho's tapas bar, manhatten room, taste, Buffett, and O'Sheehan's. the quality of food at the specialty restaurants was much better than the MDR's. I am not one for any buffet and only ate there for afternoon snacks and last day breakfast. Everything looked fresh. The venue is noisy and not very relaxing. I went to choir of men, great show! We went to howl at the moon every night they played, Piano Manny, comedians and other live music groups all over the ship loved them all! The usual fun and games were well mc'd by the staff. We really liked JoJo! Bermuda was simply amazing. We got a two day ferry/bus ticket and explored on our own. Easy and safe! We would definitely go on this ship again! Read Less

Wanted to experience a mega ship was the best cruise, the food was great and service was beyond five stars. When we ate in the any dining room, I would put my napkin on my lap, and someone would be at our table asking if we wanted a drink or bread. I would order a soup and salad and just as I would but down the spoon I would have the salad. We had little to no waiting time after placing our dinner orders. Shows were very good and several of the singers were good. Truly like duelling piano's in Hardliners was great. After six cruise's the Escape was the best. Already booking another on cruise the Escape. The Escape has so much to do on board that I can't see how someone could be bored, Over all the ship was very clean and best of all checking in and disembarking was fast. Read Less

Some family members from Australia were taking this cruise and we joined them for a get together, having not seen them for a few years. We arrived at the cruise terminal at 7:30am and were blessed to be able to check our luggage, giving us time to sightsee in NY. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth given the large number of passengers. The cabins (balcony) were comfortable and clean and our cabin steward was friendly and attentive. The dining opportunities were varied with lots of options and great food and good service. There were plenty of entertainment opportunities with some very enjoyable main shows and lots of small audience participation shows on board. There were also lots of activities to suit all ages. Many bars around the entertainment decks allowed for a variety of drinks and comfort levels. The cruise director, Mandy, was very informative and the daily event sheets were a great guide to what activities were available each day. Embarkation and disembarkation at Bermuda was quick and easy each day and the islands of Bermuda were interesting and enjoyable. We would recommend Norwegian to anyone wanting to take a cruise. Norwegian Escape looked a little dated inside of the room but ultimately the ship was great! My husband I and decided to explore on our own this time instead of doing excursions and it was so relaxing. I was a little worried since this was our second time to Bermuda but fourth time cruising with Norwegian. But if you have somewhat of an idea before hand, then exploration will take up your whole day in a good way. Great food, great party people, and just an all around great atmosphere. This was a really awesome trip. The service on board was pretty great (of course when you have the beverage package bartenders start remembering your names). The music/live entertainment at the Skyline Bar next to the casino was great! The live entertainment in the atrium was great! The crowd participation was great! I am definitely looking forward to the next one. Read Less

Cruise - Thanks to Angie (Gigi1068) for organizing the Meet & Mingle! She is so lovely and the M&M was such a fun time! I also really enjoyed the Slot Pull afterwards! Cruise Director, Mandy Jones, was EVERYTHING! I absolutely love her! Seriously, I can’t imagine the cruise without her. The staff on this ship is exemplary! Everyone is so friendly! Le Bistro, La Cucina, Teppanyaki and Manhattan Room were the highlights of my dining experiences. Although, I did enjoy the Garden Café & O’Sheehan’s many times as well. The UBP is fantastic! Bermuda is gorgeous! I took a shuttle to Horseshoe Bay, toured the National Museum of Bermuda, and swam with the dolphins at Dolphin Quest! I met so many wonderful people on the cruise everywhere I went. I can’t wait to cruise again! In fact, I’ll be back on the Escape in March. Disembarkation - I chose to self-assist. It was so easy and I was off the ship very quickly. Read Less

Took this cruise with relatives visiting from abroad. Stayed in 2 bdrm haven suite. Everything with haven was good except the disembarking upon return which needed some direction from crew. The food & service in the haven was much better than the rest of the ship including the specialty restaurants, we went to 4, were all not very good. Service in all other places out of haven was below average. I recall at least a handful of instances that staff was outright rude instead if accommodating. Shows were also not good, so bad that many people left. I've been on princess, royal carribean, and Holland America cruises. Beyond the haven, this felt inferior in every way. I'm hoping the other lines offer something like haven because I would definitely pay the extra. Just would like other better dining options, a couple of good shows and staff in the general area to be not rude!!! Read Less

It was close to home so we didn't have to fly and we have never been to Bermuda. Overall the cruise was wonderful but we were a bit surprised and annoyed a bit. 1) The whole 7th floor smelled like smoke and gave us a headache cause they allow smoking in the open area of the casino so we didn't gamble even though i really wanted to 2) the food was AMAZINGLY TASTY and FLAVORFUL. they also had a lot of choices 3) Most of the chairs in the sun had towels or personal items on them for hours with no people in site so it doesn't allow others to use it for the purpose for which it is meant. TO SUN BAITHE. 4)Plenty of activities but no itinerary for the whole week up front so it makes it hard to plan day by day in advance. 5)the bermuda beaches were fantastic 6) When booking your cruise PLEASE find out the EXTRA CHARGES you will be hit withi.e gratuities per day @ 14.95 per persondarts/bowling/pool all have to use ur swipe card and cost from 2-6$ to play. don't use your phone unless you are ok with 100-250 in inernet charges. most of the extra charges were just not made aware of to us prior but otherwise we had a lot of fun. i would recommend this cruise unless you like to gamble and shop on the boat and you don't like smoking. NCL provided a very positive experiences. Food was excellent & service was impeccable. Professional & friendly staff made it an excellent choice. We had a balcony cabin and we found it provided plenty of room for two people. There was a variety of entertainment & plenty of activities to do. We loved the layout of the ship. We didn't do any specialty restaurants because the buffets and the Manhattan provided everything we were hoping for. We love Bermuda hence the Escape provided the perfect experience. We wish the stay there could have been a bit longer. On board shops provided everything we needed. Self assist disembarkation fit our need perfectly to catch an early transportation home. Plenty of quiet corners around the ship for rest and relaxation. We went for meals right when the restaurants opened hence no waiting lines. Soft drinks were expensive, over $4 for a can of pop. Over all, a wonderful experience! Read Less

This is my 3rd Norwegian cruise last 2 on breakaway. I dont prefer this ship for a few reasons 1. Deck space in pool area small and crowded 2. After midnight show was long and I struggled to remain interested 3. Dining in main hall was meadeocure flavor and presentation really fell flat 4. Choices of dinning areas limited unless you want to spend a lot of extra $$$ and thise restaurants were not even busy 5. Limited hot tubes and tbey closed at 10pm 6. Dinning options after 930 are limited to mainly snacks and bar good and for days at port tnis is especially difficult to make dinner due to limited bus schedule on the island. Overall, I have failed carnival 1 time and Norwegian 3. I may choose a different cruise line based off of this experience. The pros... My best friend and I booked this cruise super last minute. We toyed with the idea of going on a cruise for sometime, however, hadn't actually booked anything till maybe a month before our embarkation date. As a first time cruiser- I had my hesitations, not going to lie! I was afraid of being sea sick and stuck on a boat with thousands of people and kids and norovirus! Now looking back, I cannot believe I questioned going on a cruise at all! Overall, this was truly an epic trip. I cannot wait to cruise again on the Escape for Halloween 2019! Dining- I did not get the specialty dining package- somewhat of a regret, however the dining that is included is perfectly adequate for the average person. My favorite dessert was the honey creme brûlée at Savor. The molten lava cake was also a hit. Service- Exceptional! From our steward to the entire crew, we experienced excellent service. Everyone went out of their way to make this trip a great experience. Special shout out to Mandi our cruise director! Entertainment- Loved the nightly themed parties. Loved Mandi the cruise director. Loved the shows. Take me back! Shore excursions- Only did the cave/aquarium/zoo excursion- but it was definitely worth it. Our tour guide driving to the caves was resourceful, and our tour guide at the excursion itself was a riot. Read Less

The ship was ENORMOUS with a HUGE variety of activities to choose from each and every day whether at sea, or in port. The entire staff was MORE than accommodating and super helpful! Our balcony cabin was quite spacious for us 2 throughout the entire trip. Our room steward Casanito was on top of his game and we NEVER had to ask for our room to be made up. He was always one step ahead and always provided us whatever we needed when asked. He, as well as ALL of the staff were FILLED with knowledge and tips as to what we 'MUST SEE & DO' both onboard and in port! ALL of the shows were beyond amazing, but the 2 that left a lasting impression were, Choir of Man, and Off The Record. Choir of Man, was DEFINITELY a Broadway level show, with the music, and interaction with the crowd! Well worth the money to me! Off The Record was just as good as I am an 80's baby, ALL of the music and flashbacks to the movies that i grew up with were right up my alley and we loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT! The incredible variety of dining choices on board surely fulfilled the palate of each member of my 40 person group that traveled together. We never left hungry and were very excited to grab a midnight snack from the buffet each night! This was our first cruise ever and to visit one island (Bermuda) for 3 days, was absolutely lovely. It was the perfect amount of time to explore the island and not be bored! Above all else, my boyfriend of 6 years, proposed to me in front of out friends at dinner at Teppanyaki on 10/1/18!! It was absolutely a DREAM COME TRUE!! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect proposal and the many congratulations/well wishes we received from the crew and staff onboard The Norwegian Escape! We can't wait to start saving and to plan for our next cruise!! Thank you to every memeber of the team that made our first cruise experience, quite an unforgettable trip that we still reminisce about on a weekly basis!! WE LOVE NORWEGIAN!! Read Less
