Very disappointed in the NCL Escape cruise to Bermuda. Smoking is allowed in the casino which located at the center atrium of the ship. Smoke is smelled throughout the ship on ALL levels because of this. Shame on NCL for subjecting us to second hand smoke. Smoking is also allowed at certain outside bars located directly adjacent to the children's water park. Children should not have to smell smoke and be subjected to cancer. The overall service staff was rude and not cordial. A bartender at the H20 bar from India yelled at me for not picking up my mixed drinks on time. The guest services person gave me incorrect information on when the time zone change would occur. The NCL mobile app had incorrect information that we were going to be in Hamilton for three days and not the dockyard. Fire alarm testing at 10 am during the breakfast rush is unacceptable. This should have been tested during the afternoon when most are off the ship on excursions. I was excited to take a tour of the bridge and see behind the scenes areas like the kitchen, laundry and engine room like I did on other cruise lines, however, NCL has the nerve to charge $79 per person for this tour of their ship. This is disgraceful. Not having a pitcher of water or bucket of ice in the room, as well as no chocolate at night or towel bunny is cheap and disgraceful. Charging $7 a bottle for water when I have the all you can drink package up to $15 per drink is also disgraceful. Nickel and diming me for port charges for drinks while at NY should be picked up by NCL. Coffee should be served at the tables at the buffet so I don't have to navigate back to my table with piping hot coffee through hundreds of people walking in all different directions. The food and pastries at the buffet and most of the specialty restaurants was subpar with most pasties tasting like they were mass produced and from frozen cartons. The waiters did not show us the proper attention like other cruise lines where you had dedicated waiters. Maybe because their tip is already included! Many of the waiters or waitresses did not understand English and got our drink orders wrong. There were also few food carvings or any other special food nights. The seafood extravaganza was a joke with only peel your own shrimp. No crab legs or anything. The specialty seafood restaurant waitress said not to order the lobster I was craving because its frozen and many people are said to be returning it due to poor taste. The sushi appetizer at the Cagney Steakhouse caused intestinal distress for a day and half. Many of the entertainment shows were sold out immediately as we boarded the ship. The comedy club size is a joke holding about 75 people with a ship of over 4,000 passengers. This show should have been held in the main theater so more people can watch and not be subjected to standing in the rear against a wall. The bar in the comedy club was also closed during a show preventing many people from ordering drinks. Theater showings should be after 10 pm so it doesn't interfere or conflict with my open seating for dinner which NCL prides themselves on. NCL cruise line was very disappointing. I will be going back to Royal Caribbean cruises where they treat their customers with respect and the food is always good. Read Less

I am a senior citizen and this is my first cruise. The Norwegian Escape is not only beautiful but the people, entertainment, food and hospitality exceeded my expectations. All the ship's restaurants(specialty and complimentary) had excellent atmosphere, service and food. The value of the cruise exceeded the cost I paid. The excursions were worth the trip and cost. I enjoyed the bus tour visiting Hamilton and St. George and hearing the history of Bermuda. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The boat cruise of The Rich and Famous was very interesting and informative. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly during the entire cruise and excursions.. The Escape crew was very organized. I was very happy to be in a cabin close to the elevator and mid ship. It was very convenient to attend many entertainment functions and restaurants on other decks. I enjoyed sitting on my balcony and gazing at the beautiful sites. I highly recommend the Escape to anyone who is thinking about taking a cruise. I'm looking forward to my next Escape cruise. Read Less

The staff and accommodations were wonderful. We were able to relax and had every bit of information we needed to make our vacation spectacular. Great entertainment, good food selection and shore excursions were delightful! We went to the spa several times and were pampered- exactly what a vacation should deliver. The beach in Bermuda was amazing. Recommendation to really explore the area and not just for shopping, but for the beauty and solemnity that the island offers. Bermudians are proud of this paradise as they should be and NCL was able to capitalize on the best offers for each family. The talent and shows were tremendous, well thought through to reach a range of ages and really engaging. Love all the singing and dancing - can’t believe they aren’t all on Broadway already! Would pick this cruise a million times over and tell my friends to do the same. Looking forward to our next adventure and excited to bring more family along! Read Less

My wife and I have been cruising with NCL for about 10 years and 17 cruises. This cruise was for our 20th wedding anniversary. We decided to get a Haven suite. Our previous cruise had too many children so we had thought that the Haven would have fewer children. The children were from age 6 months on up. We were very wrong. The entire ship was overrun with babies & toddlers. The strollers were clogging the elevators and the walkways. Every restaurant had at least one screaming baby (including the specialty restaurants). Even the Haven area was mostly unusable as the pool area was completely taken over by young children. The service was, as always, spectacular. Every NCL staff member we encountered was pleasant and friendly. The food was equally spectacular. The only problem we had was everything was so good but one can only eat so much. The entertainment was great. We loved the comedy shows. The shows in the Escape theater were very good. However, it appears that NCL has shifted their business model to cater to families with young children. It was like being on a Disney cruise. I would strongly recommend that one does not cruise on NCL unless one wants to cruise with a lot of children (and I mean a lot). However, if one is looking for a child friendly cruise line then NCL is a great fit. My wife and I have decided to break from NCL. Our children are grown and we have no desire to share our vacation with other people's children. The Bermuda cruise will be our last that we book. We have already paid for another cruise so we will do that and be done with NCL. I wish NCL the best. I have a lot of great memories from NCL. Read Less

I chose the Norwegian Escape because I liked the convenience leaving out of NY and I wanted to visit Bermuda, a place I had never been. I also thought the ship would provide constant entertainment for my 7 year old daughter (who celebrated her bday during our cruise) and we weren’t disappointed! Between the kids club, daily games and entertainment, pool and slides, arcade, nightly shows, etc. there was always something to do! I was also very impressed with the service onboard- the staff truly works very hard to provide great service and accommodate your needs. I absolutely LOVED the waterfront, the designated quiet area onboard to just lounge and enjoy the sea! I also loved Bermuda although I didn’t get to see everything I wanted to. Horseshoe Bay is an amazing and beautiful beach, enjoyed the snorkel tour (booked through the ship) and shopping. My daughter and I stayed onboard one morning in port to enjoy the pool and slides without the crowds. You really have to find the quiet times (early morning, late in day and days in port) onboard to enjoy pool! On “at sea” days, get chairs early in the morning or you won’t get a seat! I thought the ship was kept very clean and I was happy with my room (although it was an inside room and small, it was in good condition and clean.) The food onboard was good(not great). My favorites were the hibachi specialty restaurant Teppanyaki and O’ Sheehans, the Irish pub. The service at all the specialty restaurants and O’Sheehans was good except at Cagney’s Steakhouse the night we went as it was extremely busy. I loved Choir of Man, one of the shows onboard - I thought it was fun and entertaining and After Midnight had a lot of talented performers. All in all the cruise was a wonderful vacation with very special memories - I plan on booking Norwegian again hopefully soon! Read Less

Beautiful ship, but WAY overcrowded with rude, loud people and hundreds of uncontrolled children. We expected a quiet aft cabin and got nightclub music from 5 floors up until 1:30 every morning ...and neighbors with dozens of kids running the hallways at all hours. We had a couple of crew who were friendly, but overall, the staff was not very happy at all. The bartenders seemed to be annoyed at your presence. Of course, if I had to deal with this crowd every week, I’d probably hate my life too. The party atmosphere is not policed and seemed to be encouraged by NCL. The passengers, overall, were the trashiest group of people I have seen in over a dozen cruises. Ketchup smeared down our hallway walls.... a fight in the casino.... it seemed as if anything went on this cruise. The first person we complained to basically blamed us for booking on NCL. Eventually, the guest relations manager made a respectable effort to remedy our disappointments and concerns. Internet packages are time limited and will time out if you forget to sign out..... unlike other lines where they are unlimited. The food was the best part. I definitely recommend trying the specialty restaurants, because you can’t move in the Garden cafe during peak meal times. Even the nicer specialty restaurants run amok with horrible parents and brat kids. If you want a nice, quiet, relaxing trip, this ship is probably not for you. If you want a party, go for it! The ship is lovely with plenty of fantastic venues. Read Less

I selected this cruise because the port was close to home and I didn’t have to drive or fly anywhere. The ship is very modern and nice. There were many activities on the boat and the food was good. I love the touch screen TV’s on every floor, you can make reservations on them too. I also love the itinerary they left the night before for the following day. We got the drink package and Specialty restaurant deal. We ate at the steak house which was delicious, the moderno (Brazilian) and the Cucina (Italian) were okay. The drink package was good many selections and top brands, but you need to request or else they’ll give you the house brands. The only thing I don’t like is they don’t include bottle water. Bermuda was beautiful, definitely stop at horseshoe bay. We didn’t do any excursions because we traveled with our young children and there weren’t too many options for young kids. My kids did partake in the children's camp, they have many activities for the kids all ages. Now the bad. Our personal rep owed us an on board credit and he did not give it to us, I would call him and he would not answer my calls. I called guest services to complain and they don’t care, I left voicemails, spoke to supervisors and got no answers. The money I spent on this cruise was not worth it. Our bathroom smelled like urine the first day we arrived, I called housekeeping to clean it but no one came. My husband got food poison that night at the Manhattan Room restaurant, he lost a whole day because he was so sick. The pool deck chair situation is TERRIBLE, a bunch of chairs with towels and bags and no one sitting on them. The worst part is the staff doesn’t enforce their 60 minutes rule policy. It’s packed during sea days and the children’s water park area is even worse, it’s a bad layout. Nowhere to sit and very small. Overall we had a nice time and made the best of it. Read Less

We booked this cruise because it was leaving from New York. If you are not a demanding person almost any cruise can be fun. This was our first cruise in about eight years and things have changed. Ships are bigger and everything is louder. We had a mini suite balcony which was half the size of the balconies we used to get. But with all of that we had a great time. With the beverage perks available you aren’t being pestered for drink purchases. The specialty dining perk also was very good. There was never a wait to get into the complimentary restaurants. The pool area was small and crowded but that is because of the other activities on the upper decks. We never had a problem getting a deck chair on the top level deck. Entertainment was good and there wasn’t a problem getting reservations for the shows. Choir of Men was excellent but I wasn’t to thrilled wit After Midnight. Lounge acts were decent. Read Less

Have traveled on Norwegian in the past. Have to say that my experience on this cruise was definitely disappointing compared to my other cruises with Norwegian. Some of the employees at the slide and several different bars were very rude and unprofessional to both my daughter and husband. After having this experience, I am now looking for other cruise lines to do business with. I had a room in the Haven suite which was beautiful except for some of our service from our night butler. One night he never picked up our order for breakfast in the morning so our day butler had to go get us breakfast which took awhile. We were late embarking off the ship that day and had to rush to the Dolphin Quest so that my daughter wouldn’t miss her class. The room steward Renaldo was excellent and the day butler was ok. Patrick in the Haven was very accommodating and helpful. He helped us order caviar with our dinner at La Bistro and came to the restaurant to make sure that we received it. Some of the staff in La Bistro didn’t know how to prepare the caviar which we had to do ourselves unlike the other La Bistro ‘s that we have been on in the Dawn and Gem. Our waitress didn’t even know what caviar was which I found was a little shocking for someone who works in a restaurant. The atmosphere was nothing like the other ships. It was very loud and decorated very plain unlike the Gem and Dawn. The service was ok. Read Less

We enjoy cruising to Bermuda because we have three days to enjoy the sun the beach and the culture. The Crew consistently asked how we were enjoying our trip and then everything they could to keep us happy. The food was excellent the shows were entertaining. Overall everything exceeded our expectations. We took the white hot sunset cruise on the rising sun catamaran and it was fantastic. A young couple was on board and they had a guitar and sang songs and got everyone involved while enjoying rum swizzle‘s and seeing a beautiful sunset. We went to Clearwater Beach in St. George and really enjoyed our day. It’s connected to several other beaches where we found ourselves virtually alone and actually got to see turtles along the beach. The island and people are beautiful the ship gave us everything we wanted so I would give it the highest rating for this vacation Read Less

The itinerary was great and Bermuda is beautiful, but, NCL can use some improvements. Some thoughts: 1. There are too many specialty restaurants and exclusive areas on board which forces the crowds into an area that is comparable to smaller-sized ships. 2. Elevator service was insufficient during busier times. 3. The quality of the food in the main dining room was inconsistent and not on par with other cruise lines that we have experienced. Eg. the appetizers were great, entrees meh. 4. My daughter signed up for family karaoke on two different nights. On one occasion, children under 18 years old were told that they may sign up until 10 PM and they would have the opportunity to sing their songs. Everyone who signed up by 10 got to sing. On the second occasion, my daughter signed up before 10 PM, but, the DJ later announced, at 10 PM, that no more children under 18 would be allowed to sing. This is inconsistent and inconsiderate and my daughter was very disappointed. The DJ should have policed the sign up process better and not have let the younger cruisers sign up and wait around for something that was not going to happen. This is not to say that the vacation was a total bust and if it were our first time cruising, we would have been quite pleased. But, compared to other cruise lines that don't have these problems, NCL should take note. Read Less

We love Bermuda. Cruising is a nice way to get there and we didn’t need to fly. This ship was insanely overcrowded. 5000 people and 1 tiny pool. 2 days at sea and it was a fiasco on the pool deck. No chairs, no room in the pool. Hot tubs loaded with kids. Every area or event labeled as “adult only” had 100’s of kids. No staff did any corrections. We joined the thermal spa for $450 and we were told that area was monitored for holding onto the heat beds. No such luck. People held them for hours and went missing. No staff removed their towels. Day 1 by 2pm all specialty restaurants and entertainment was booked. Standby for all entertainment. Bars were swamped. Bartenders over extended. Restaurant staff looked beaten. Buffet worst ever. Horrible food. Dining rooms sloooowwww. If you want a pleasant experience all Norwegian does is up-sell. You need to pay for better dining, pay for a pool. It’s a true price gouging from start to finish. Even when you shell out more money, still a bad experience. Glad this wasn’t my first cruise. I’d never do it again. Read Less

This was our third cruise with NCL and our first on Escape. The ship was beautiful and the crew members were nothing but pleasant, friendly and helpful. My teenage son had a special dietary need. We spoke to the Restaurant manager Jay in the morning of day 2. Jay assured my son that he and his staff would do all that they could to help him enjoy the food on this cruise. Thanks to Jay and his team, my son was able to pre-order his meals each day and he was able to enjoy the food that was made specially for him at the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants with the rest of the family. Overall the food on Escape is great. We mostly dined at the three free dining rooms and O’Sheehan. We bought the 3 meal specialty dining package so we have also ate at Cagney’s steak house, Le Bistro and La Cucina. All meals were delicious! We had a lunch at Food Republic and the food was also great. I am especially thankful to the restaurant staff due to their care for my son’s special dietary need. Tanmoy and Estella, two assistant maitre’ds were extremely caring and nice! They constantly checked on my son and wanted to ensure that my son’s needs was being taken care of. Our family stayed at 2 balcony and 1 inside staterooms on deck 11. All rooms were very well maintained and clean. Our room stewards were also very friendly and helpful. We read many reviews before we boarded the ship. Many people mentioned how crowded the pools would be on at the sea days and how hard to find poolside lounge chairs. So our family didn’t hang out by the pool during the first 2 at sea days. Rather we used the pool and the waters slides in the morning of the first day the ship docked at Bermuda. We had so much fun because there were only a few people by the pool and there was no line for the water slides! Since this was our fourth visit to Bermuda, we spent more time on the ship then we had in the past. Entertainment on the Escape is fanatic! I loved the energy of the Choir of Man show. The After midnight show had great singing and dancing. Our family with 2 teenagers also enjoyed the Matt Johnson magic show at the Supper Club, the Escape the Big Top game, the comedy shows, Howl at the Moon dueling piano show, ropes course, and various wine/beer tasting. We had a fabulous vacation on the Escape! Read Less

We choose this cruise because of convenience. Leaving from New York City was our attraction. There were so many issues I had with the cruise. I can write a book.. Let me start with the housekeeping staff! My room had an smell. The toliet smelled like bowel and urine. Under the beds had dirt left over from previous guest. I loudly complained. Totally disgusted. They recleaned room. The lady who cleaned our room did not clean the room. She only gave us towels and made up beds. There was gum on sheet and she made up bed to hide gum on sheet. And the list goes on and on. My mother diabete testing stripes were stolen from her room. When she complained was told maybe someone you're with took them. Smoking cigarettes in casino very upset about that so I didn't go there. How about having 2 casinos one being smoke free? So guest like me can enjoy the casino as well. RUDE STAFF. I noticed the Philippines workers were much nicer to non-black guest!!! I personally had 2 encounter's with staff and was given such mean attitude look as if to say did I have permission to speak to this man! Read Less

We chose this cruise as a first vacation for our blended family of 4 kids. With interior and balcony rooms on deck 6 aft we had plenty of space for her 2 girls and my 2 boys (ages 10, 10, 13, and 14.) Speaking of aft, the back of the ship was like a hidden gem that rarely got crowded and had plenty to offer. It was right up the stairs and the kids had plenty of time in the hot tubs and pool as well as the ropes course and Foosball at all hours of the day/night. Not a single meal disappointed but the lido buffet does get packed during prime hours. We avoided it during the breakfast and lunch rush and had no issues getting food other places. Kids said the hot dogs were the best they ever had. This was my 2nd cruise on the Sunshine class of ships and this sailing was more fun and less stressful than the Sunshine to the Bahamas a few years back. For the girlfriend and her 2 girls it was their first cruise and they loved it. Our only complaints were getting stuck on an elevator for 5 minutes. I'll go into some detail below but overall we had an amazing time going to Bermuda and would definitely sail again on the Sunrise! Now for some specifics: Embarkation and debarkation in New York was incredibility easy. I had faster to the fun, she did not, but we all got to board at the same time. It took 15 minutes from walking into the port to walking on the ship, and leaving was just as easy. We spent probably 20 minutes from when we left our room to walking through customs. Her interior room was small, but the 3 of them didn't do much but sleep in it. We spent a lot of time on my balcony enjoying drinks and the waves. Both rooms were always kept clean and our attendant Chai was awesome. Main dining room (your time dining) was always a blast and the kids had some amazing food. The lobster was a huge hit. Some of the small specialty places to eat were also good. This cruise lacked some of the fun shows in the liquid lounge but we were surprisingly entertained with a jazz program and always have a blast at Hasbro Game Night. I got to go up on the state for my 2nd time and we won. Chris (The Flying Scotsman) is a little over rated in my opinion. I didn't enjoy his company as much as Mason from the Sunshine and his one man show was the only thing we walked out on, the kids were not feeling it. But we did see 3 different shows in the comedy club, 2 of which were kid friendly and they loved it. Pools and hottubs were awesome and never that packed. The water was 80 degrees and felt great. Even the water slides were fun. Again, back on the Sunshine in April a couple years back the water was freezing so this was a pleasant treat. There were of course plenty of people not having a good time, mostly because they were upset with some of the language barriers or slower drink service on the busy days. The beauty of things like Cheers is that you just order another drink before you current one is gone! Bermuda was BEAUTIFUL. I've never had so much fun swimming in the ocean, i'm used to it being a little on the cold side but this trip was perfect. The bus ride to the beach was way too hot and the kids didn't enjoy that part so much. The beach was also packed, but it's a big ocean. Overall, the 6 of us had an amazing trip and only have a handful of complaints but not enough to review this vacation as anything short of perfect. I booked the Sunrise based on the fact that it was recently refurbished and leaving for Bermuda out of New York. I didn't want something as touristy as the Bahamas again. I also knew full well of the "poop cruise" and the negative ratings that the Triumph and some of the newly named Sunrise was getting but didn't let that deter me because you can often tell that some reviews are negative because of someone specific attitude or that they didn't really know what they wanted out of a vacation. Overall had a great time! Family of 4 (kids 5 and 9). 4 night cruise to Bermuda on August 15th. The crowd was very diverse, but very friendly. Met a lot of people from NY and CT, even a few from England. We are from Philly, we vacation in OC NJ, this crowd was more from Wildwood. We chose this cruise since we could drive to the port, overall it was a simple process. We parked and off loaded our luggage; and it took less than 10 minutes to get through security and onto the ship. The buffet lines were long for lunch on embarkation day, Guy's burger joint and the mexican place had long lines too (hint: go upstairs above the mexican place and eat at the Pig and Anchor, decent BBQ food and there was no line). You can also get a pizza delivered to you anywhere on the ship, this would be another idea on embarkation day, just use the app the pizza delivery guy will come to you, cost is $5 for delivery but it beats standing in line for 20 minutes. The pizza was awesome! Many other reviews complained really bad about the buffet lines and the 2 choke points...these reviews are accurate but just do you best to avoid those areas and you will be fine. The choke points were crowded but they encompass 10 feet of the entire ship, not the end of the world! Avoid the breakfast buffet line by going to the restaurant for breakfast, no lines! Kids loved the water slides and water splash area! We never really had an issue getting a lounge chair, maybe we were lucky but it was fine for us. We used Anytime dining: perfect with the kids since they wanted to stay outside for a while. I made reservations on the app 5 minutes before we wanted to eat every night and it was not an issue. You have to walk around the casino bar (yes, I agree with everyone else that it is a stupid design to walk through a smoky casino bar right after you grab a shower so I can get to dinner!). Drinks were a bit hard to come by in the restaurant, the waiters are all running around but the service is a bit below average. We grabbed drinks at the Alchemy Bar which is on the way to the dining room. I even ran out to grab drink #2 because it was easier than waiting. **You are allowed to bring 2 bottles of wine on the boat on embarkation day and you are allowed to carry it to your room. Read the alcohol rules, it is permitted. We each brought a bottle. Some night she filled a glass and carried it with her to dinner, it saved about $12/drink. My wife had the salmon and loved it, I had the flank steak (it was more of a sirloin as opposed to a thin flank but it was really good). I ordered multiple meals every night, and usually had the flank steak too. She had the salmon several times and like it. Avoid the seafood medley, seafood was overcooked and it was kind of bland. Several of the mushroom apps were good and there was a mushroom veg entree that my wife really liked. Kids menu was simple, spaghetti, burgers, hotdog, chicken fingers. They like ordering a few desserts each night. The Carnival Hot Lava cake is great every time! On Bermuda day: Get to the buffet early. Everyone is going to the buffet, it was really crowded, I would try to get there by 8am. We arrived around 9:15 and it was jammed. We went to horseshoe beach, take a taxi, it costs about $32. The shuttle bus costs $7/person which is $28. Don't bother renting an umbrella, there was another ship in port with our ship and the beach was jammed. By noon you can grab a vacated umbrella before the staff packs them up. The line for getting back was really long, I stood in line for about 20 minutes while my wife and kids played on the beach. We took a taxi back, same cost of $32. Shuttle bus line was 3x as long. We got our photos taken all of the time on the way to/from dinner. Usually this is annoying, but the kids thought it was a special thing. And honestly, the photos really came out great, my wife ended up buying a few of them. The photographers normally harass you, but these photographers were very friendly and really enjoyed their job. After dinner, we would hang in the Red Frog pub, foosball and shuffle board and board games are hidden in the back and kept he kids busy while we drank beer! The Flying Scotsman was worth the price by himself! Be sure to attend the R&B Night in the lobby bar. There was no lie probably 1,000 people in the bar, stairs, mezzanine, and upper floors looking over the rail. The whole place was singing and he was dancing and singing on the bar. Simply awesome! He does a 1 man show that was pretty good as well, not as crowded as the R&B show, but he sang opera which was pretty neat to see (I like Classic Rock and he did a lot of that too). Our kids did not do Camp Ocean, they wanted to stay on the water slides so I cannot rate the children's activities. Read Less

Twice that I found them talking about customer's in their language. I guess because the tips were included in the check that they didn't even care to show their respect. Daily activities paper and my excursion tickets were not delivered on time. Beach towels were not replaced in our room most of the time. We had to get it from the poolside. Read Less

We took NCL because it was the only major cruise line going out of New York in August to Bermuda. Everything was simple from the moment we got to New York in 30 minutes later we were on board. We did have a hiccup at first when some luggage was lost due to luggage tag being turn off but eventually was resolved. We had a great few days at Sea before we got into port with the only downfall of adults-only pool area is entirely too small for the ship 4000 people on it. We could not get seats around the pool no matter how hard we try or how early we woke up. Food in the main dining rooms was mediocre buffets were good. Irish Pub food was great actually..Lots of amenities on the ship the shows were good. Casino was nice... drink package paid for itself. Not a fan of nickel and diming of the daily service charges but oh well that's life. Bermuda was great did a cave excursion as well as Snuba Diving...yes Snuba...Horseshoe Bay was busy but nice. Caught a little rain on the way back...not a washout by any means... we got into port at 2 a.m....started the departure by 8:15am... shipping 25 minutes and in our cars 10 minutes after that unbelievably efficient process. Overall good time....Big ship always isnt Better though. Staff not as friendly as other Norwegian ships I have been on or any other for that matter. Read Less

Excellent food, alcohol and service. Unfortunately Friday night (docked Sunday morning) captain raced home. Ship creaked ALL night - got no sleep. One of my 4 children were celebrating her birthday Saturday night into Sunday ( birthday August 18) but since ship arrived in port SO EARLY staff didn’t want to serve alcohol ( too interested in cleaning stations for next cruise )and since we were in port we were charged TAXES on drinks! We lost our last night of fun and celebration. A great cruise tainted by the last 2 nights. I paid for that 7 th night but feel I was ripped off! The pool and hot tub in adult area was supposed to be AdULT ONLY but children were in them. No staff monitoring these areas. Guests should NOT have to confront other guests children and ask them to stop jumping and splashing. Seating for pool area too small - had to go to top deck - no waiters up there serving drinks. Had to walk down 3 flights of stairs and wait on line for a drink. Bracelets for drinks would be better - no body wants to keep up with a card. WiFi should be included - too expensive and didn’t work well. Read Less

My husband and I booked a cruise for our honeymoon. I wanted to go to Bermuda and I was thrilled to find out we would stay for 3 days. The ship was huge and I think too big and over crowded. We found this out trying to reserve a seat for shows and for the specialty restaurants; all booked for the week and we were on the ship the first night . The pool was always packed and deck chairs never available. The adult pool was tiny for the amount of people and the average size of the people; who were enormous. The hot tubs filled with people who never left. The lines for the water slides and the Rope course am hour minimum. The kid pool was closed down one day because someone defected in it. Too many people and too much garbage and dirty glasses and unbelievable poor manners of these people . Dirty feet on tables and furniture, waking around wet with no pants and shirtless men. This is the “people of Walmart” cruise. Trashy. People passing in public. Disgusting. The 3 restaurants; the Manhattan, the Taste and the Savor were included and the food was garbage . Rubbery chicken, over cooked meat, mashed potatoes that taste like cardboard and everything salty . By day 2 everyone was bloated and packed on like sardines . Every minute the crew tries to upsell you if you do a facial or massage; they try to get you to get the more expensive or to do acupuncture or Botox or an activity is extra for example Deal or no desk $25 for a card, painting is $35 to participate. We booked a massage and the therapist tried to up sell us to do a more expensive massage then told us to buy $179 Epsom salt and a $67 brush . Not relaxing at all because they don’t shut up either to try to get you to give up more money or to insult you . During my facial I was told i should get Botox. I really do mod want some ocean doctor standing botulism into my face ! Bermuda was good but do not buy any excursions on board because it’s $70 more than waking to the island tour center , take the bus for $2.75 not a taxi for $43 or a shared bus for $7.00. The ferry is ok but infested with roaches. Everyone off the ship is trying to separate you from you money as well so be careful . This vacation was absolutely horrible. The filipino crew will give you nightmares with the way the say “ goooood moooorniiing” and the stupid “washy washy”. Never cruising again . Norwegian ruined cruises forever . Read Less

We had an early embarkation so vacation started early which was an awesome start. Our cabin was in the perfect location not far from the elevators. All of our meals were great especially with friends . We really enjoyed Howling at the Moon . Bermuda is our favorite destination and Rising Sun Catamaran swim and snorkel is our favorite excursion it was a great day in the sun at a beautiful location. Couldn't hit a jackpot in the casino but had a great time anyway! Drinks and dancing at Spice H20 always a great time. Met so many people all the staff were friendly and service was great. Alvin the cruise director was Awesome as always does a great job getting people to join in the festivities and always makes us laugh!! We had an early disembarkation which was swift no waiting just the way I like it! We Love NCL and will definitely be cruising with them again soon!! Read Less

This was more or less an impromptu cruise for my wife and I. When I say "impromptu" I mean we didn't book it a year in advance, we booked it about 70 days out (I'm a planner-type person so this was scary). Overall, it was a great trip and Bermuda was beautiful as always. Embarkation went well. After much deliberation, we chose to park at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal lot for $40/day, or 280 for the cruise. We arrived about 11am and within 30 minutes of turning off the car engine, we standing on the ship. We found the vast majority of the staff to be friendly and helpful. The Main Dining Room staff were helpful and accommodating, but just didn't seem to have the candor and smiles we found on the bar staff and our room steward. We had a couple of minor flubbs in the MDR but nothing insurmountable. Two nights in a row my wife got a chicken dish that was either overcooked and tough, or in the case of the chicken piccata, it tasted like eggs to her. The asian-style dishes were very good, and I didn't have a steak that wasn't tender, juicy, and delicious. However, overall we found the choices in the complementary food venues to be underwhelming and uninspired. What was available was overall tasty and we are not foodies or anything, but we like to try some new things and new combinations of ingredients when cruising. The public areas were too, too small. Forget a dip in the pool on the sea days, you can barely get close enough to it much less get in. The hot tubs were lukewarm and almost constantly full anyway. We don't mind kids, but there the hot tubs were mostly full of them being left unattended while mom and dad sat at the bar or sunned themselves. Spice H2O was a little better, but no pool and the last sea day the exhaust from the stack was blowing over the spice area and people were getting covered with little droplets of a black soot/oil substance. We did not experience that on the way down simply because we were double-timing back from Bermuda. We arrived in New York around 1-2am, rather than the customary 5-6am and just sat in port like the Captain had a hot date or something. Slowing down would have probably alleviated this issue. The atrium shows were fine as long as you got in early. We're not too much in the way of show people so we didn't bother with the shows and such. Fortunately we got a great deal on an upgrade to a spa balcony via the bidding system so we were able to use the excellent thermal suite to soak and swim in the therapy pool. We enjoyed this immensely and spent time in every room - the saunarium, sauna, steam room, cold room, and salt room as well as using the heated lounges, therapy pool, and small hot tub. As we have previously visited Bermuda, we chose to go to Horseshoe Bay the first day and I had booked a Resort for a Day with The Elbow Beach Resort prior to embarking. Horseshoe Bay was very, very crowded, so we just dropped our stuff and jumped in the water for a bit. We took the bus to get there and hopped a minibus to get back (so we didn't have to climb the hill). So it was about $12 round trip. To get to Elbow Bay we took a cab from the pier for about $50. Expensive, but our driver was super friendly and gave us a little tour on the way. We chatted about life on the island and learned a great deal about Bermuda on the way. We thought it was worth it. On the way back, we got lucky and managed to hitch a ride on a minibus with a fellow who was going to Hamilton and then agreed to take 6 of us back to the port for $8 per person. He also gave us a tour and took us along some of the back roads back, so we got to see parts of Bermuda that a lot of tourists don't see, so that was neat. The third day we just puttered around the dockyard and bought souvenirs and such. Overall, we found the locals to be very pleasant and helpful. Read Less

We went on a family "reunion" for my mother's 84th birthday. 12 people total, my mom, her 3 children, 3 in laws and 6 adult grandchildren in 3 Haven 2 bedroom suites. From the beginning to the end, the experience was fantastic. The amenities, the service, the food at the Haven Restaurant, the Haven bar, the Haven pool, sundeck and activities were fabulous. Embarkation and dis-embarkation were seamless as was our access to entertainment and dining via our concierge. We were able to bypass lines and get where we needed to be with time to spare. Getting off the boat was a breeze, with assistance for my mom when needed. And the port was fabulous. Due to the size of our group, we booked our own private excursions. The service and Haven Restaurant were definitely the highlight for me. I plan on going again and going Haven. Thank you Norwegian for fabulous memories. Read Less

Had a great time at the Norwegian Escape . Everything went well and smoothly. The service, the staff, the restaurants, the food and the entertainment was all over the top. A lot of activities to do. There are plenty of dining options to choose from; even the complimentary restaurants are great with a variety of delicious food. The staff always welcoming and willing to accommodate your needs. Despite the number of alternative venues on Escape, the Garden Cafe which is the buffet, can be quite crowded during peak breakfast and lunch hours. Nevertheless the variety of food was always good. We didn’t take any excursions but we did visit Horseshoe Bay which is a must, the beach is absolutely beautiful and traveling to and from was very easy , safe and cheap, only $14 round trip. Overall my husband and I had a great time and a positive experience. I highly recommend cruising with Norwegian. Read Less

This was a 50th wedding ANNIVERSARY cruise for my parents planned for all 21 of us. 5 daughters, 2 husbands, 11 grandchildren(ranging ages 31-2) + one wife. The embarking process was a bit chaotic. We felt rushed and no one took our luggage. However, once on board there was something for everyone on the ship for all the ages. The overall trip was great but in some areas there were too many people. You couldnt get into the one pool unless you wanted to be a sardine. All the hot tubs were packed as well. Good luck getting lounge chairs. Go to the pools etc. at night when everyone is at dinner or shows. That being said the drink package was amazing and worth every penny. The food was delish and in plenty especially at the Garden Cafe. The shows were great and daily agendas had shows, games, music, painting classes & Kid club events etc. The casino wasnt our thing which was one whole floor and wreaked of smoke which we tired to avoid. The complimentary & speciality restaurants were awesome and you didnt have to wait long for seating. However, no one seemed to like La Cucina. Bermuda was perfect and would love to go back. Read Less
