If you like rush hour and gridlock, you will love the Breakaway

If you like rush hour traffic and gridlock, you will get a taste of it on the Breakaway. There are many good things about this ship, which I will detail below, but the long lines and waits put a damper on some of the trip. We have always sailed on the Jewel class and prefer it to these megaships. The Jewel class felt like home after a few days. The Breakaway had plenty to offer, but doesn't feel ...

We chose the Breakaway because it had the right timing for two of our son's friends who were joining us for their first cruise. This was our first cruise on NCL and on such a large ship. We all (6 of us - Us, Parents, and adult son and daughter and son's married friends) had a great time and loved many of the features. I enjoyed the freestyle dining and we tried all the free options. Our only ...

It fell in line date-wise with our cruise on the Epic that returned on 2/11/17. PLUSES: FOOD: Excellent all around. CREW: Excellent (A+) except for our steward shown below in our MINUS section CABIN: Our balcony stateroom was fine, especially after the poor review I gave for the cabin from our Norwegian Epic cruise the previous week. ENTERTAINMENT: * Excellent comedy in the ...

Great promotions run for 3/4 sailing and unlimited beverage package were a great deal. We booked this for a group on 13 people. Food was delish. Many options. Rooms extremely clean. The on and off of the ship was a hassle but, for the most part smooth sailing. The pool games were extremely fun each day. The kiddie/adult pool being seperate was kind of a drag. The one and only complaint I ...

Boarding process at NYC was very smooth and organized; all staffs (security and check-in) were very nice friendly. Lines moved quickly. Food was great in all places; Garden Café on Desk 15 to The Manhattan Room on Deck 8. Very friendly staff on board the ship; if you don't see any food item you like you can ask for it and they will make it for you; my wife is a vegetarian and on the BBQ ...

This was a free cruise awarded to us by a nearby casino. We've done dozens of NCL cruises including the inaugural Breakaway from London to NYC a few years ago. Liked it a lot. This cruise though was too crowded. We couldn't even get off for tendering to the Private Island. Beautiful ship with loads of technology. Good entertainment and a good casino. Just wish there were more sports than ...

Spotless big ship.

The Breakaway is a big ship. That being said, it was not crowded. Reservations in specialty or other restaurants was not a problem. There were not many children on this cruise so most activities were always available.  I was surprised that there were not many scheduled FREE activities on board for the five days at sea. The stateroom TV had the same three episodes of Mike & Molly, Big Bang ...

This initial reason I chose traveling through Norwegian was because I had traveled once before in college through them. I had already gotten latitude rewards so why not try to get a couple more, and if I liked them continue. My initial cruise was a spring break trip with a bunch of kids from school, so well that trip was great and wouldn't have really mattered what line I went, it would have been ...

My husband & I live in NY so its very convenient to get to & from port. This was our 3rd time on the Breakaway & in Haven. Haven Spa Suite includes week pass to Thermal Spa which is awesome & so relaxing !!!! The private dining room on Deck 16 in the Haven lounge area is awesome- although it has same menu everyday ( all 3 meals) there is a good selection. Service is superb- no waiting on lines. ...

We sailed on Feb 12 with our two young boys (age 4 and 2). There were pros and cons about our trip and the cruise in general: 1. Ship: the ship itself is nice and has lots to do (pools, waterslides, hot tubs, trampoline jumper, ropes course, climbing wall, etc). Unfortunately, since we left in February, we couldn't enjoy these on the first two days or the last day of our cruise (it was too ...
