1-10 of 17 New Orleans to North America River Viking Mississippi Cruise Reviews
We recently traveled with Viking from New Orleans to Memphis and overall we had a great time. The food was great and the two large dining venues and staggered excursion departure times do a good job of separating guests so you never really felt like you were traveling with nearly 400 other people. Most of the guides for our excursions were outstanding. We loved the WWII museum and think it ...
The ship was beautiful the food was excellent and service was great. Bartenders very personable and knowledgeable. The bad was the excursions. Getting from the hotel to the ship involved waiting at a lunch place for 3 hours and getting from the ship to the Memphis hotel took a 5 hour bus ride and a 1 hour wait on line to check into hotel. They should have handed out the keys on the bus as you came ...
I paid for two lower level cabins. We traveled as two single women celebrating the end of a tough work year. Each was about $7,000. The ship is new and is beautiful. The living room (central event and sitting area) is very nice. The couches are really low on the ship and many elderly people couldn't get up without a lot of effort however. The bar is laid out nicely and is a friendly place to go. ...
Interest in the Lower Mississippi and in the excursions especially Memphis. Boat was only 15 months old and it was very nice; Service was overall very good, especially the wait staff.
However the food was a major disappointment. There was not much variety and oftentimes it was not hot when served.
Stop in Greenville, MS was a real highlight of the trip. The food and music was excellent. I ...
Always wanted to do this cruise. Waited over two years hoping Viking would iron out the kinks while they held our money.several changes to itinerary ( bused to Baton Rouge rather than sailing from New Orleans and at the end of the cruise bused from Red Wing to St. Paul). We were ok as Viking picked up the hotel on both ends.
The room ( Deluxe Veranda ) was clean and new with a few problems ...

We familiar with Viking from a Rhine River cruise and also from friends who have vacationed with Viking. Their European level of service was known and appreciated.
Our cabin: a Penthouse Junior Suite, was nice and roomy with many amenities available. The inviting balcony was unusable for the entire trip due to the loud, noisy, rumbling ventilation outlet adjacent. We cannot recommend this ...

We chose this cruise because we had always wanted to cruise up the Mississippi River from NOLA to Memphis. When the chance to do this on a Viking ship we jumped at the chance and we booked approximately a year out. After reading about the problems that Viking was having getting the ship launched and the cruises that we're being cancelled, we hoped that we would be lucky enough to be able to ...
Our Viking Mississippi cruise from New Orleans to Memphis was great. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the local musical groups that performed on the ship – a new one each day; they were all very different and were all excellent! Much more than the one or two you usually get on a river cruise. In addition to the musical entertainment, there was a new speaker every day. If you miss the speaker on ...
We had a trip booked on the Rhone river for two consecutive years, cancelled by Viking due to Covid. Viking would not return our money or all the money we had spent on upgraded airline tickets, so this was our next alternative. Viking was willing to return $400 a piece for the thousands we had paid in advance, or accept their vouchers.
Embarkation took all day. Basically we hung around in a ...

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and previous experience on two Viking ocean cruises in the Scandanavian countries. First of all boarding was no trouble and very straight forward. We arrived at our penthouse veranda suite which was very nice except for the stench of sewage coming from the bathroom shower . It was reported and after about 3 days the stink had subsided. The cabin was ...
