Totally Disappointed

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

This was my 4th NCL cruise and possibly my last! Last year we went on the Getaway and it was great so we thought the Breakaway would be great too, but boy was I wrong! Embarkation was a nightmare, lines for days, took close to 3 hours to get on board! Our stateroom was ready once we boarded and it was very clean, spacious and bed comfortable. The balcony was a bit small but adequate for ...

Tons of illness, trashy people, staff lack of communication

This cruise was a very last minute booking to celebrate a 70th birthday and an anniversary. No prior research was done which was out of our ordinary. We usually research, book, then research some more on any vacation we do both in and out of country. With that being said....the outcome was worse then anticipated. We are local from Nola and had heard about the Breakaway being first of its kind ...

If you want a cheap price this is the boat. The overall staff was not friendly. They nickel and dime you. Soda $4.45 water bottle you pay. Shows that were free you would not pay to see couple of the shows they wanted $44.00 or something for the shows. We did not see Grand Cayment we were told because rough waters but 2 other ships tendered there passengers onto the island. If you want to see ...

We sailed on the jewel 3 years ago and it was good. The Breakaway was a lot newer and bigger, the food wasn't good at all I didn't think anybody could mess up chicken but they can. The dinning room on all cruise lines have the New York Strip Steak I ordered med rare ( all others have ben 1 1/4" thick juicy and tender) It came out a little pink in the middle, like I ordered, and 1/2" thick and very ...

Inadequate Venues

This cruise was only 75% full and we still could not get tickets to see many of the shows. This is the first cruise we have been on that requires you to sign up to see entertainment. A small one story theater that only holds a couple hundred people cannot adequately support several thousand passengers. The other entertainment venues are even smaller. They even charged extra for several of the ...

My wife and I chose this cruise for the itinerary and the price. We had never been on a ship this big and after sailing on her we much prefer the Jewel size ships. This was our 18th cruise and our 8th with NCL. Since we had never been to New Orleans we came in two days prior to the cruise to check things out. There is always something interesting happening in NOLA we found out. We stayed ...

More money, less service, shows booked

Hard to find a bar hostess/waitress. Had to go find an open bar, then wait. Shows booked by day two. Was able to book 1 comedy club night, had to wait in stand by line for other. First cruise I’ve been on that you had to pay EXTRA for the shows. Hard to get sit down lunch, only 1 open for a later lunch and long wait. Unlimited bar drinks that cost over $800, didn’t include bottled water, that was ...

NCL Breakaway 11.17.18 Poor Experience

I traveled on the 11.17.18 sailing of the NLC Breakaway and was an extremely disappointing experience. The boat felt extremely crowded and oversold. My wife and I were on our first experience with NCL and can not imagine returning based on this experience. We had a Spa Balcony room with the drink and specialty dinning packages. We were unable to prebook our specialty dinning options and once on ...

Although I had a wonderful time with my family on this family reunion cruise, because of the cool people/party I brought with me, I was highly disappointed in the service and cruise. My husband and I had been on this same ship three months earlier in The Baltic and had a fabulous time, however the staff had turned over to an almost entirely new, inexperienced crew. Service in the main dining ...

Thanksgiving Cruise :-(

Not really a lot to be thankful on this cruise. Over all the cruise was a 5 out 10. Way too many kids on the cruise and not enough supervision. Freestyle crusing really isn't freestyle when you have to make reservations for everything. NCL staff need to be friendlier with guest considering we are paying a lot for their services. Here are just a few things from my notes. 1. Room was ...
