Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

This cruise offered eleven days and a couple of stops where we'd never gone before. Also, it began and ended in New Orleans and gave us a chance to spend a few days in the Crescent City. I will begin by saying that at the time we booked, the cruise was to be on the Gem. Later on, it was changed to the Breakaway, and we should have RAN away! The ship is HUGE and the walking to and fro was ...

I don't like to write negative reviews, I always try to be positive, but you need to know this before you spend your money on the Breakaway!! Background information- We took the Norwegian Breakaway at Thanksgiving out of New Orleans. The ship was crowded and you had to wait in line for everything even if you had made prior reservations they were not honored. You just got in line and waited. ...

We had never cruised with Norwegian before this cruise. The ports that cruise stopped at was so inviting and the price was exceptional so we booked it. We had such a good time. Before we actually went on the cruise we booked another cruise on Norwegian next October and we are really glad that we did! We are counting the days to that cruise! The only downside to the cruise was the cabin. We ...

Beautiful ship! Clean, good entertainment. Smoking is sadly allowed in the casino which is open air into the lobby and adjoining noodle bar restaurant. The smoking section is right in the middle of the pool deck which again allows smoke to drift in all directions. Embarkation and debarkation was smooth and well organized. Food was good, sometimes very good. Never excellent. Staff were ...

Inadequate Venues

This cruise was only 75% full and we still could not get tickets to see many of the shows. This is the first cruise we have been on that requires you to sign up to see entertainment. A small one story theater that only holds a couple hundred people cannot adequately support several thousand passengers. The other entertainment venues are even smaller. They even charged extra for several of the ...

My wife and I chose this cruise for the itinerary and the price. We had never been on a ship this big and after sailing on her we much prefer the Jewel size ships. This was our 18th cruise and our 8th with NCL. Since we had never been to New Orleans we came in two days prior to the cruise to check things out. There is always something interesting happening in NOLA we found out. We stayed ...

More money, less service, shows booked

Hard to find a bar hostess/waitress. Had to go find an open bar, then wait. Shows booked by day two. Was able to book 1 comedy club night, had to wait in stand by line for other. First cruise I’ve been on that you had to pay EXTRA for the shows. Hard to get sit down lunch, only 1 open for a later lunch and long wait. Unlimited bar drinks that cost over $800, didn’t include bottled water, that was ...

Worst cruise ever! Terrible food, poor customer service, very few activities for kids! The food in the Buffett and main dining room was not up to par of others cruises I have been on. Almost 200 people waited over 45 minutes for a tender to Belize City. The guest services agent kept telling us 10 more minutes. There were a ton of kids on the ship and not enough activities for them. The climbing ...

Arrived to port at 10:30 a.m. due to Saints game at 3:30 p.m., a jewelry show and other things going on in NOLA. Our check in time was at noon; however, we were able to check in early. The check in process took about 25 minutes from start to finish waiting in the area to board the ship. We began boarding the ship and were on board by 11:15. The ship is beautiful, huge and very segmented. The ...

First experience on Breakaway

Chose this cruise because of the convenience of the Port and we love Cozumel and it was the first Port on this itinerary. We are not a huge fan of mega ships and this itinerary was overbooked due to the Thanksgiving holiday making lines very long. The ship is really quite beautiful inside. The deck plans provided could provide more detail as to the location of various dining venues and bars. We ...
