Nice ship, but could use improvement in some areas

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

It was a good price for a 10 day cruise and I thought I'd give the big ships a try. I had only had one other "big ship" cruise on the Epic that was terrible. The room was nice, but I didn't find the brown carpet very cheerful. Our room steward was terrible. Room was dirty and things were not refilled/replaced. Quality of the room stewards seemed to go downhill immediately after NCL began the ...

A Fab Time! Solo Haven

My complaints are so minor they slip my memory. DO keep in mind I was a solo traveler (female mid-50s) and in arguably the best cabin onboard for me (16704). Embarkation was a complete cluster. Think NYC traffic, bozos everywhere and a completely disorganized plan. For those of us that paid the large premium for Haven it was a dismal start. There was no marked line. I had the choice of ...

Winter Travelers

We like to chase away the winter blahs with a cruise. Although we had been to the western Caribbean before we decided to try it again, this time only planning a couple of shore excursions. The Breakaway was a really nice ship. It offered many entertainment venues from dancing and singing shows to comedy. We had a mini suite which was not much larger than a regular balcony room. Our balcony was the ...

We were nervous about cruising for such a long time but we discovered it was so great it wasn't long enough! Norwegian is excellent in all they do. The ship was in great shape, well maintained and clean. The service was personal and impeccable. The cabin was roomy with a nice closet with shelves. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious. Although if you were overweight you might not say that. ...

Pretty mediocre experience

Some specialty dining was included in the package we got and that was very good. The regular dining rooms were inconsistent - some pretty good meals and some not very good meals. My main complaint is that the smoke from the smoking areas drifts into the surrounding areas. There was a good noodle restaurant next to the casino but only ate there once because it was smokey. Enjoyed a quiet bar ...

Previous NCL cruiser - - disappointed this time around

This was our 4th cruise with NCL and this ship and overall experience was mediocre. Crowding everywhere. Quality of Freestyle dining was poor. Staff were not as friendly as our previous NCL cruises. We will consider cruising NCL again but most likely not this ship. We are hoping that this is not an overall trend throughout NCL. Ship: seemed crowded everywhere we went. Pool Area: Small ...

Relaxing time

Ship was clean, beautiful, & friendly employees. We really had a great time & would definitely do it again. Especially for the great price we paid. On & off the ship was a easy process. Only one thing maybe on disembark day have the slower older folks & handicaps get off at a different location. We got behind some that could barely handled their luggage & held up the line. Also, maybe next ...

Great time out of the Big Easy

We were just on this ship doing the Baltics in July and changed from the Pearl out of Tampa over T-giving. The embarkation was less than could be desired. It took almost an hour to go from the hotel to the port because of construction about 2 miles away, and then it was like nobody was expecting us when we finally got inside to check in. Thank goodness for priority. In July we had an Oceanview ...

Somewhat disappointed with NCL this time

My husband and I wanted to see New Orleans and chanced upon this cruise. We cruised with NCL when we crossed the Panama Canal and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, so we thought we would attach this cruise to our NOLA visit. We got upgraded to a balcony and really enjoyed it. There was no one looking onto us in the balcony and, even though we could hear our neighbours if they were to talk, we do not ...

Tons of illness, trashy people, staff lack of communication

This cruise was a very last minute booking to celebrate a 70th birthday and an anniversary. No prior research was done which was out of our ordinary. We usually research, book, then research some more on any vacation we do both in and out of country. With that being said....the outcome was worse then anticipated. We are local from Nola and had heard about the Breakaway being first of its kind ...
