This was our first cruise. We left out of NO on April 7, 2012 for 7 night Western Caribbean cruise. Sailed on Voyager of the Seas. Our embarkation was very smooth. We were sitting by the pool by 12:00. We did not get our luggage before dinner but we had packed our carryons accordingly. So much easier than boarding a plane. We were very impressed with RCI.

We had a very easy drive to New Orleans, but found it a bit tricky getting around the city. We stayed at the Ramada Inn in Metairie, which we would suggest. It was a very clean and pretty hotel. The rates were much better than staying in New Orleans.

We are a 39 year old couple cruising with our 5 year old daughter. This is our 6th cruise on RC, and we have cruised 3 times on Carnival and once on Holland America. We flew into NOLA late Thursday night, and had a very nice stay at Days Inn N.O. Airport, then moved to the French Quarter to stay Friday night at Ursuline Guest House. This was our first cruise ever. I have been trying to convince my wife to cruise for over a decade. She does not like closed spaces. So I paid extra to get the Grand Suite. We were definitely spoiled. We actually were the first people on the ship.

We took the 3/3 sailing out of New Orleans to the Western Caribbean and overall had a wonderful time. We flew in the day before and stayed 1 night at the Hilton Garden Inn, which had a good location to the French Quarter. The hotel was decent, nothing spectacular. We arrived at the port early, around 11AM, having checked with the cruise line prior that it would be okay to drop off our suitcases so we could roam around Riverwalk prior to our cruise.
