We have traveled on the Carnival Cruise line several times. This cruise has left some experiences that were not up to par. We purchased the Faster to the Fun excursion... we paid 70.00. However we were detained by 2 hours with boarding the ship due to maintenance. The workers at the Port of New Orleans left a lot to be desired.. very unorganized... we had our check in scheduled for 11:30 and were not able to board until 2:15.. arrived to our Cabin which was in great condition... cabin steward was not very attentive. Rarely saw him.. unlike previous cruises.. Carnival has changed their policy. They will only enter your cabin once a day.... We were celebrating our anniversary and husband ordered flowers.. guest services advised that I could take off ship at disembarkment however security told me I couldn’t. Had to throw away... entered Paris dining room for breakfast the day in Cozumel . service was horrible.. took 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and we ordered the Shore Day Express breakfast (you are supposed to be in and out in 25 minutes). It took 30 minutes to get food that was cold, served on wilted lettuce.. bacon was bits and pieces... waiter apologized for being slow... I called Carnival Guest Services when I got home. I was told that I should have read the conditions and exclusions to Faster to the Fun that they do not have to refund any of the few if we are delayed due to maintenance of the ship... apologized for the subpar service. Explained about the roses that we had to leave behind, I stated that they should have some verbiage about how you will not be able take off at embarkation and could not offer a reply except I am sorry. Gave us a $25 on board credit for future cruise.. Will we cruise Carnival again... Yes... In our opinion we think that the cruise staff may be in training on the Triumph... lack of speaking and understanding English seemed to be experienced by a lot of passengers... Postive points from cruise.... we had a great time, Sunday night they showed the Saints game on the screen on the lido deck, Cabin was comfortable.... you get what you pay for.. we got a great last minute deal... however it was very relaxing getaway. We LOVED the Triumph. We were one of the last groups before it was dry docked, but the ship was in great condition! Embarking & Disembarking in New Orleans was smooth and quick, no complaints. The staff was super friendly, and the room was in good condition. We spent a lot of time on deck in the smoking section, so I can’t say much about the pool areas. Guys & Pizza Pirate were our go-to’s. We ported in Cozumel first.. we spent the day eating tacos, shopping, and going to the Humane Society of Cozumel (HIGHLY recommend to any dog and cat people- they do amazing work and the animals are so happy). We did not get off the ship in Progreso, just enjoyed the empty ship areas for the day. We weren’t impressed with the main dining food, but it may just be our taste- not a huge fan of fine dining. Overall, we had no complaints. We’ve actually scheduled our 2019 cruise for the same itinerary leaving from NOLA, would have booked it on Triumph again if we could! Read Less

This cruise was such a great experience! The staff on the ship were very friendly and very helpful. Parking was a $100 flat rate right by the terminal. Inside the port we moved right along and before we knew it we were on the ship. It was a very seamless process. We found our room and was welcomed by our stewardess Goergetta who was amazing and very helpful. We dined in the Paris dinning room and Christy and two others were on there toes and did a great job from the time you sat to finsh. There is no such thing as boredom upon this cruise ship. Adam, the cruise director, was super funny, helpful and genuinely seemed to care if you were having a great time! In cozumel, we went to the chankanaab park which was absolutely stunning! Our snorkel guides, Diego and Chino were extremely helpful and thorough. They made sure that everybody was on the same page and answered any and all questions. Diego was quite funny as well. They even made us homemade guacamole! After cozumel we sailed to Progreso, which was a completely different experience. Everything seemed a little more "authentic". If you go to Progreso, you'll see what I mean. Also, be prepared to either buy something every 5 minutes or say no thank you every five minutes. I understand they are trying to boost the economy, but it seemed a little too much at times. With all that being said, I highly recommend cruising with these wonderful people! My wife and I were always greeted with a smile. My only complaint, if you can even call it that, was the elevators were a little on the slow side. Hopefully the new upgrades will address that. Thank you carnival triumph crew!!! Read Less

This was our first cruise. Our departure port was New Orleans and the embarkation and debarkation went well. We were on the ship and off the ship with no trouble. The ship was beautiful and well groomed. The balcony cabin was just right with enough space and storage. Noordam, our room steward, was so friendly and nice and called us by our first names. He was very personable. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. The dining was excellent and the food was really good. The waiters were personable and well mannered. I was very impressed by Ramil. He was excellent. Loved the shows they were really good. The entertainers were good. The comedians in the punchliner were so funny. Loved the activities, sometimes it was hard to choose which one to do. The staff throughout the ship was courteous and kept the ship clean. I would definitely like to go back. Read Less

Where do I start over all the cruise itself was very relaxing and laid-back and I got to see some very beautiful views of several countries but as far as the ship itself it was very very very underwhelming I did not get what I was expecting overall in terms of fun entertaining the food was lacking it can best be described as a step above getting Shoney's I ended up eating a lot of cereal ice cream and hamburgers because I was not satisfied with any of the food on the ship I went to dinner and got a shrimp cocktail that was served in a bowl the shrimp were overcooked they were very small and I was just not satisfied with the taste I felt so bad for the workers on the ship they do not look happy which in turn made me feel like I was causing their unhappiness by being there the people were nice on the ship but they did not make me feel like I was having a once-in-a-lifetime experience this was my first cruise everyone who's been on a cruise before has brag to me about the experience I should have with the food with the service the fun with the entertainment and I didn't get anything that was described to me I really have to question whether or not I did the right thing to celebrate my honeymoon and my husband and I's birthday I was very very disappointed with what I thought was going to be an awesome experience the main thing was the food was just not goodalso I left the ship with just thinking all they wanted to do was get as much money out of you as they could they wanted to sell you everything it was all about money money money and I just wish that I could have had a better experience I would have gladly spent more money if I had something worth spending it on Read Less

Boarding was a bit of hit and miss. Our reserved time was pushed back and hour and then we had to wait another hour plus in the boarding area. We were in a suite so got to go into a separate waiting area where it was impossible to hear the announcements. Staff came in and literally shouted when it was time to go. Boarding was then easy. Our room was ready and was on the 7th level which we were later told was just renovated. It was an ocean suite and very nice. Large and well decorated and overall very functional. Large flat screen TV which was great but the selection of channels was abysmal. Really limited and what was there was pretty poor. Our cabin attendant was very nice although we did not see him much. (We really did not need anything and the cabin was always promptly cleaned after we left.) There were still unfinished items in the cabin, four lights were missing with holes in wall covered with masking tape, pretty much made the dressing area unusable. Also the safe did not work. Staff was almost universally nice. Friendly and helpful, it is pretty obvious they mostly like their jobs very much. They were a high spot on the cruise. Multiple times we would find have of the elevators in a bank inoperable as the staff worked on them, very inconvenient. Also, on the first day at sea the water system shut down. If there was any announcement about it, no one heard it and staff did not have any information. Generally, even when there were announcement you could not hear them, not enough volume or speakers. It was very rough due to our skirting Hurricane Michael and there were a LOT of sick people on board. You had to watch were you stepped in hall ways and on stairs and the common bathrooms were pretty bad with the toilets inoperable due to no water - I'll leave that you your imagination. The food, was pretty bad. Poor flavor and never quite right. Only high points were the burger and burrito place where, while food was good, the staff was not the friendliest. (I would assume it is a tough job given the demands from most customers for more of this and less of that, etc.) The seafood shack was very good and we went several times even though we had to pay. Pizza okay but they never seemed to have any ready when we stopped by - poor supply management. A lot of children on the cruise and they would take up seats at bars keeping paying customers away. Only once did we hear a bartender instruct them to move once they got their soft drinks. Stops were okay, if you have aver been to Mexico they are the same. Disembarking was very smooth as we were in suite and given priority. Read Less

Our honeymoon was wonderful on the cruise. It was our first cruise and we really don’t have anything to complain about. Many thanks to our wonderful room steward, 1 Gede is his name. The crew on there is absolutely so kind and selfless. Thanks carnival dream. We didn’t have our children there but we definitely will for next time. I wish they’d continue porting out of New Orleans,Louisiana but that’ll give us chance to try something else there. The food was great and I like how the tips are automatically drawn so we don’t have to worry about cash on hand. The shows were excellent and hilarious. Alex our cruise director has such a vibrant talented personality. The ship had problems getting the anchor up and made up the time for it. The fellow guests were all so friendly. Of course you’ll have one or two who complains about just about anything but hey, grateful cruiser here and I would do it again with the dream. Read Less

After a 3 hour delay the boarding process was horrible we were hurded like cattle with little to no direction. 5 min after boarding the ship you are mustered on lockdown in a dinning hall then it’s a free for all to get to the elevators or move 12 decks back to your room. When I say the ship was overcrowded you could not move about with out being up in someone’s business. It took almost an hour to get settled in not fun at all. The schedule your dinner meal in an overcrowded restaurant and expect you to eat at odd late times. This is designed to force you to buy food. The whole time they are pushing you to buy crap it’s loke a 7 day locked down time share convention with boose total waste of money. This is not what I expected from a trusted cruse line like carnival needs to say I will never cruse with carnival again. Read Less

This was my first cruise. Boarding was delayed by an hour and a half and due to this Carnival refunded our FTTF. Our room was fantastic. Comfortable bedding excellent water pressure. Our cabin steward was AMAZING. He made us feel like we were his only cabin. We ate in the MDR every night and never disappointed. Guys burger joint was fantastic. I didn't care for the pizza but it didn't ruin my experience. The bar service was amazing. I highly recommend the Miami vice. The coffee shop was fantastic. I highly recommend getting the cheers program. We also purchased the social internet package and honestly didn't have a lot of issues with the internet at all. I also got a hot stone massage which was amazing. To be honest besides not liking the pizza I don't have any thing negative to share. Oh the public restrooms were gross and stuck so I always went to my cabin when I needed to go. We had a blast and we can't wait for our next cruise. Read Less

Me and my wife took the cruise for our honeymoon and first vacation ever to ourselfs. I was surprised at the selections of food they had on the cruise. Me and my wife definately did not go hungry, if anything we gained a few pounds while on our cruise. The sun decks were perfect for many people to enjoy the sun as well as other company. I enjoyed trying my hand at many games in the casino, even thou I didn't win anything. My wife enjoyed a couple of the games in the video arcade, at least the easy ones. The pool side movies were a nice touch, even thou I only got to watch one of the many they showed. The cabin was spacious for two people to share, might've been crowed if more than two had the same room. The steward we had, Junaedi, was very nice and helpful with any request. We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion we decided at the last minute to go snorkeling and eat a Mexican lunch with tequila tastings with Claudia. I would highly recommend taking the cruise with the triumph going to Cozumel, Mexico. Just make sure to bring plenty of spending cash. Read Less

This cruise was chosen for me. I called in to customer service and spoke with one of Carnival’s customer service to help book since this would be my very first time cruising, it was my boyfriends birthday, and both of our children left for college, so we were celebrating a little bit of freedom and relaxation. I first asked that I not be placed on the bottom deck. I wasn’t sure how the decks were designed but I knew I didn’t want to be on bottom deck due to a recent video I saw on fb about flooding. I was promised all these things as far as his birthday celebration once we on the ship. Low and behold once we arrived on the ship and got checked in we were in first floor. Cabin was hot air not working and service suck! Always had to stand in long line for at least an hour for guest services. Called for help 3 times with a problem on ship and the staff members would call guest services each time they said they were sending someone up and after 3 hours I walked down to desk myself and they act like they had no clue what I was talking about until I asked them to call the staff member that gave me his name and Department he worked in. Once he came down and confirmed he had spoke to them about my problem and who he spoke with all I was offered was a “sorry” purchased pictures and a gift card that had given me, the percentage was not taken off. For a first time cruiser I was completely dissatisfied and asked for refund or compensation and they told me I would get credit on board my next ship. Sad reaction from a company. Port in driving distance and desired ports of call. Food definitely not what it is to be. Did by go hungry, but nothing to write home about. Steakhouse food was amazing, but service could have been much better. Staff in general was ok.... Definitely standouts, but majority was just there for a check.... Or so it seemed. They like to tell you not to bring drugs on board from ports ..... But enough people did that it was completely obvious I could have carried anything on board. Won't be traveling the dream anymore.... Ready for a nice, more to to date ship. Faster to the fun was a waste of money ... We received no benefits other than or luggage was delivered slightly earlier than normal. No priority services at all. The staff are incredibly friendly and personable and make you feel like you are all family. I absolutely LOVED all of the shows Carnival Dream had on the ship, you could find me jamming and singing to all the songs they were playing or laughing till i cried because of how well they were put together. The food was outstanding, and if there was something you didn't like, the staff offered to have it recooked or asked if you wanted something else. We were always early to our ports giving us more than enough time to explore, and we had an amazing cruise director, Lee!! This cruise left close to home and it was the best vacation ever. We picked the bobsled excursion in Jamaica. The wait at the the top was longer than expected due to a group riding the breaks of the bobsleds and slowing everyone down. However, the weather was perfect and the view incredible. The skylift was peaceful and Dunn's waterfall is a must for Jamaica. We went snorkeling for the first time in Grand Cayman. The guides were very good and kept a close eye on our safety. Plus, this excursion allowed a lot of time for shopping. In Cozumel, we chose to do our own trip by getting in a taxi and traveling to a local beach by Chankanaab. Only $15/person including a drink and free rentals of kayak and snorkel equipment. The Dream is a wonderful ship. All the staff was eager and happy to assist with whatever request we had. One of us is gluten free and the restaurants all had options. The entertainment was great, especially the comedians. We left the kids home and got the Cloud 9 package, which we used everyday. The food in the main dining room was some of the best we every had. We tried the BBQ and buffet, but were not impressed. Guy's Burger Bar was worth going back for. There were plenty of children on the ship, but we only encountered them during meal times or when the teenagers hung out at night at the back of the ship. Also, we were lucky the weather was perfect for this time of year. We would definitely choose another Carnival Cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because the itinerary had places we wanted to go and sail out of a port we have never been to before (Port NOLA). Overall we had a great experience. It was my fourth Carnival cruise and my wife's first time ever cruising with any cruise line. However it was my first time staying in a balcony room and on the spa deck which I highly recommend. The amenities that are offered while staying on the spa deck are worth it and a great place to go when want to experience something more relaxing. My wife has said she will not travel with any other cruise line other than Carnival as she enjoyed it so much and our cruise director Lee Mason was fantastic and very entertaining. The entertainment was great as always with something always going on. The service was exceptional. We had anytime dining which means we sat at a different table and sometimes different sides of the dining room each night which resulted in the dining staff singing "Happy Honeymoon" to us twice during our cruise along with a personalized chocolate cake both times. We wanted to do something memorable for our 25th wedding anniversary and this cruise was just the ticket. From the excellent food and high class entertainment, this cruise had it all. Whether you wanted the fine dining of the steakhouse, the normal dining in the regular restaurants or just grabbing something on the go, we didn’t experience any bad meals. The cabin had plenty of room and was quite cozy when we did actually sleep. We had plenty of choices for excursions in the ports of call. There was something for everyone in each of the ports. The shopping opportunities in Grand Cayman & Cozumel we’re off the charts. Embarkation & debarkation both went very smoothly. I would highly recommend you purchase Faster to the Fun if it’s available when you cruise. We were able to embark well ahead of most of the cruisers which made that experience very nice. My wife and I booked a great 23 day Cruise up the Mississippi River. Teri Robbins the agent I purchased the cruise from at American Queen Steamboat Company Office, was AWESOME ! Every time I called or e-mailed her in the months leading up to the cruise, Teri always returned my calls or e-mails within a few minutes. I have never had a more honest, organized, and sincere agent, that I had with Teri. The Cruise on the American Duchess was very good, as we moved up the river day after day taking the Hop On-Hop Off, American Queen Buses for tours of the cities. The Drivers Karen, Tami, & Mark were so professional, funny, and had a great personality. They were so fun to be with. Angie the Golf Cart driver who drove Handicap people from the docked Duchess, up the ramps when getting off the boat, was very nice. In side the boat, our stateroom was cleaned very nicely everyday by Cleon & Francis. The American Duchess also provided us with outstanding one day complementary laundry service, once a week. Michael the bar tender in the Grand Lobby Bar was so good, as he visited with guests, and mixed great drinks everyday. In the Main Dinning Room Jeremy the Maitre d, and servers Kenneth, Sidney, and Soufian were very nice and professional. Gerald the Butler, who did a little of everything on the boat, was very funny, and worked hard pleasing everyone. At the front desk Purser Shayna Tatz was so nice and worked a lot of hours with a Big smile on her face. Teresa Marcou the Shore Excursion Specalist was such a hard worker, making sure all of the Shore Excursions, and Hop On-Hop Off buses were working on time. The Riverlorian/Stage Manager Mike Chapman was very knowledgeable, interesting, and entertaining, as he gave his daily lectures on the history of the Mississippi River. The Entertainment on the American Duchess was OUTSTANDING ! Lead by the Cruise Director, Lead Singer, and Entertainer Dustin Cunningham, his wife Courtney Cunningham, & Jeff Hudson who were also Asst. Cruise Directors/Entertainers. Their Singing and Stage performing was outstanding. The four man American Duchess Band was so good, and was lead by Band Leader/Drummer David O'Connell, Bass Player Will Wagner, Pianist, Adam Marchand, and Sax/Reed Player Ike Spivak. There were also 9 different entertainers who came on the American Duchess to entertain us. My favorite walk on shows were the comedian and magician " Dante," and the Different Instrument playing and singers Dave Para and Cathy Barton, who were so different and entertaining. One of the major highlights of our 23 day cruise was attending a special educational lecture in the Pilot House by Aaron Sidora the American Duchess Chief Mate. Later that night we also had a private dinner with Aaron for 2 hours. Aaron was so nice, very smart, and answered all of the questions we had during our dinner. That was very special. My wife and I had a great relaxing time on this 23 day cruise, as we learned a lot of History about the Mississippi River and cities around it, and we met some great people. Read Less

We chose the Dream because we went on the Freedom two yrs ago and wanted to try something else. By far the Freedom was a lot better ship. I guess the time we went out there was a lot of children and so disrespectful and rude . They ran up and down the halls yelling and would not let an elder get by they would just stand in the way like someone owned them something. Room service was nothing like the Freedom, we only got our room freshened up one time a day on the Dream and on the Freedom it was every time we walked in or out of our room. We had to repeatedly ask for things and ice . The service in the Bar was the best they remembered our names and we met new friends there. Romela, Aundre, I Wayne, and Carlton was the best ever . Was very disappointed in Costa Maya and Belize I will recommend the Freedom over the Dream. The entertainment was not half as good as the Freedom seems like there was so much more to do on the Freedom. Will not recommend the 9th floor lol we was right under the lounge and heard every move Read Less

Wardrobe door unhinged same as toilet door closing system broken but still closing. No toiletries apart from shampoo and shower gel. Porthole and door dirty and decayed. Balcony should have been taped off rusting dirty shambles. You would not go out barefoot or sit on seats (subsequently replaced). First to the fun bought but didn’t get cases until after 5.00pm!!! Closest we have been to getting off a boat and staying in NOLA. Saving grace was staff at Spa and staff at Steakhouse who were terrific. This was my 5th cruise. My 3rd with Carnival and it was absolutely horrible. It has been 4 years since my last cruise and this experience has left me with never wanting to take my vacation on a cruise. Embarkation has significantly improved and moved very quick. We boarded the ship about 12:20 and were not able to get to our rooms until 1:30, which meant we had to pack the luggage we did not give the porters. My overall experience would be a 1 or a zero. The food was absolutely horrible. It was like getting days old Golden Coral Food or worse. I had to buy bottled water, as the water on the ship had a nasty after taste. The tea was gross and the lemonade too sweet. The decent restaurants were only opened from 12:00 to 2:30. Guys Burgers was open from 12:00 to 6:00. After eating burgers a few times it does get old. If you like the disgusting pizza it was open 24 hours. If you are hungry after 10:00 p.m. be prepared to pay for food. We did eat at the Chef's table which is extra. If you want burned crab cake that was not only burned but frozen burned this is the place to go. I have eaten at many fine steak houses, and again this was a disappointment to me. On-board activities are expensive and a money pit. My husband and I booked to have a massage which was amazing except the ladies pressure you to buy all these products, and try to tell me it would help my bags under my eyes, nose, etc. when I know I need to have a sinus surgery to alleviate allergy issues. It was like I had to tell them "what do you not understand about the word NO". Entertainment was great the first two nights, but it is basically the same throughout the entire cruise. It gets boring after watching basically the same thing. The comedy entertainment was degrading to women. I can not believe Carnival Dream has a woman comedian that can joke about women in such a degrading, pornographic manner. Half the people left during her skit. The comedy shows are only 30 minutes and you have to get their so early in order to have a seat. Nevertheless, after we attended that comedy show, my husband and I did not go back. Again, it was outright disgusting. The cleanliness of the ship was not there. Room service has been cut to once a day. We had to rip off the sheets from the bed after the 3rd night in order to get clean sheets. I know some of you might not wash your sheets, but I am the kind of person that washes mine frequently. It is especially necessary after you spend all cabin time laying around on bed. Our entire floor smelled like DODO... POO POO no lie, straight up sewer, and then walk into a balcony cabin that is no less than 78 degrees. I don't know about you, but I keep my temperature at 72, needless to say I could not sleep because it was so stinking hot. There were blue soap debris left all over the shower from previous passenger and our bed had a definite swag in the center. Food plates were never removed, if you want them out of your cabin you have to set the dishes outside the door. The ship design is not vacation friendly. The elevators do not take you to necessary areas. You have to walk all over the place to get to the place you want. There were so many people that average wait time for elevator was 7 to 10 min. Who wants to spend all their time waiting for an elevator. Montego Bay was fun. The Dolphin excursion was amazing, but we spent over an hour waiting for the excursion when we got to ship terminal. It was well worth it, but again when on vacation who wants to spend their time in a long hot line. When we got to the beach, we were harassed not less than 10 times if we wanted to buy mojo. In Georgetown we took the submarine excursion. It was over priced for the fact that you basically just go in circles around the same reef. The costs for that should be no more than $50 but of course that is not the case. In Cozumel we took the excursion to the Mayan Ruins. Absolutely loved the ruins but we were only given an hour and a half once the tour was complete. (Tour consisted of waiting for everyone to go to the bathroom, walking one mile to the ruins, and a 15 min. quick breakdown of the ruins) There is a 45 min ferry ride and another 45 min. bus ride one way. The majority of the time is spent traveling so we did not get to enjoy and explore for being rushed. Like I stated this was my 5th cruise and likely my last! I definitely will never cruise Carnival and this was my third with them. Pity to have spent my hard earned vacation money on this trip. Read Less

Simon London (Cruise Director) was awesome! We must have met and spoke with Simon more than a dozen times during the cruise. Simon seemed to be everywhere at one time. One minute we would be watching a show that he was hosting, and before we could even exit to the next event, he would already be there with a different change of wardrobe and entertaining an entirely different event. We joked the entire cruise that he either had a twin or a double that would stand in for him. We took many pictures with him and anytime that he saw us, he would walk through the crowd of people to come greet us and ask us how our day was going. He always informed us of the upcoming events and we even connected with him through the chat feature on the Carnival Hub App. It was so great and funny that he would respond to us through chat as there were literally thousands of people on the ship and he would take time out of his extremely busy schedule to chat with us. Captain Alessandro Lemmi was the most gracious of all hosts. We were first in line to meet him for the Captains Toast. Upon having our pictures taken, we made a very special yet unusual request. Captain briefly considered and obliged with a formal invitation to something that was beyond anything that we could have imagined that would happen. On our last sea day, we were invited by the captain to spend time with him and spent close to an hour with him. This is a memory that we will never forget. Captain Lemme was so regal and eloquent with us and is a true gentleman. We discussed his hometown in Italy and he was very interested in our hometown in Louisiana. We discussed his very successful career in the Italian Navy, as an officer with LPG Tankers, and now his tremendous position as Captain with Carnival Cruise Lines. Captain Lemmi is most certainly what made our trip as special as it was. We cannot hold him to a higher regard and compliment his graciousness, kindness, professionalism and being an amazing host in general. Moises Clarena (Guest Services Manager) was excellent, he was very accommodating and stopped by to check on us whenever he saw us out and about. We very much enjoyed his hospitality and professionalism. Every time we saw Moises, he knew who we were, would ask us how our day was and ask if there was anything that he could do for us. He is an excellent person and host and is a true professional that does a great job. Dinner in the London Dining Room (6pm) was excellent. The service by Martinez and Edwin was excellent. They were so much fun and knew us all by name along with what we drank each night. Martinez and Edwin were gracious hosts that catered to anything that we wanted. Our conversations with them carried on from one night to the next like we were old friends. They impressed us very much and we felt very fortunate that we were placed in their care. We prepaid gratuities before the cruise, but also felt that they deserved a great deal more than that, so we tipped them very handsomely in addition. Martinez and Edwin deserve to be recognized for their outstanding service and hospitality. Theresa (bartender at the Capital Bar on deck 3) was awesome. She had the most bubbly and friendly personality. She was always so excited every time she saw us. She made the most amazing drinks and truly stood out as such a happy person that really seemed to enjoy her job. Of all the amazing bartenders on the ship, Theresa was by far the best and our favorite. She truly has a tremendously bright future ahead of her. We did the Elite Champagne Catamaran Sail & Snorkel excursion in Cozumel. Alejandro and his crew were phenomenal. This excursion far exceeded what we expected. Those guys catered to us like we were royalty. Alejandro and his crew were so much fun to be around. They let us drive the boat, they fed us an amazing Mexican meal that was accompanied with an endless supply of whatever we wanted to drink. They drove us all around the Western side of Cozumel while entertaining us constantly. They brought us to the most amazing places to snorkel while letting the current do all the work for us as we drifted near the boat down the beautiful coastline. Alejandro and his crew made this day extremely special. We also did the Mi Casa Su Casa excursion while in Progreso. Luis was a phenomenal guide and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the region. Luis was extremely friendly and made it very well known that when they said, “Mi Casa Su Casa”, they meant it. We were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped on the bus until we got back to port. The food, drinks, beach house, bartenders, butlers, guides, homeowners, massage therapists and chefs were all beyond amazing. We could not have been happier with Luis and this excursion. In conclusion, this was the first cruise for all four of us. Our party consisted of myself and my wife and our best friends (Rooms 8434 & 8439). The ship was great, so were the people and experiences. The price was excellent also. We bought the Cheers package for the unlimited alcohol and that was really cool because we never had to worry about how much our bill was going to be as it was all covered. We also booked a fifty minute deep tissue massage on the Cloud 9 Spa and it was great. Our friends and ourselves just booked next years cruise on the Carnival Glory that will visit Mahogany Bay, Belize, and Cozumel. We all look forward to trying more that Carnival has to offer. We chose this cruise because of the easy drive to New Orleans. We prepaid parking at Fulton parking garage. I’m not sure if we would do this again, but we might. We arrived earlier than our appointed check in time, but we still got on the ship fairly quickly. We loved the ship! Lee, the Cruise Director, was the best we’ve ever had and I’ve been cruising for 30+ years. Our cabin steward Suhardi was wonderful. He kept our cabin spotless and was very nice and friendly. Even though they now only clean the cabin once a day, that was fine with us. The food choices were wonderful. We loved all the food, but our favorites were Guy’s Burgers and the Blue Iguana Cantina. On the lido deck there are numerous serving stations for the buffet and the made to order omelettes. The first omelette station usually has a long line, but if you continue on to the 2nd or 3rd station, you can usually walk right up and order. Lawrence, Luis, and Rata, our main dining room servers, were great. Always friendly and calling us by name. We enjoyed the comedy club and all of the music throughout the ship. We liked the nightly shows. I would cruise on this ship again in a heartbeat! No complaints at all. Read Less

My husband wants to see all 50 states, so we added on LA and MS. The history was fascinating, great historian on board and on tours. Most beautiful plantation of all was Houmas House. Being a gardener, I was quite enchanted with all the flowers, trees, statuary (and very unusual and quirky statues) swan pond, fountains, and the house was gorgeous as well. Oak Alley Plantation was beautiful as well, and on our swamp tour we saw some gators, one up close, and even had one of the flying fish land on our boat, a most unusual happening we are told! New Orleans was delightful. Loved the Cathedral and French Quarter, Cafe Monde has great beignets and chicory coffee. The food onboard was top drawer, amazing chef. I particularly loved the soups. I would highly recommend this tour. Also, my husband uses a cane and walks slowly, and he never felt like he had to hurry on this cruise to catch up. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was on my “bucket list,” and the safety of the United States. The boat is beautiful, but could use some maintenance, as far as paint, etc. We were in the Owner’s Suite with ample room, elevated amenities, private veranda, special balcony seating during entertainment in theater. The mattress on the double bed was not comfortable. The butler was very attentive, personable, and efficient. Dining was good but not exceptional. Breakfast and lunch options were buffet or from menu in the main dining room. The dinners were top-notch. Buffet dining was always available at another venue. The bars were tended by very good mixologists. Entertainment was good, considering the size of the boat. Lectures and other activities, such as bingo, were interesting and enjoyable. Service was probably the best part, though some dining staff had some attitude problem. A statement in its brochure said that the boat had an all American staff, and that was a bit of a stretch. The staff was very personable and warm, for the most part. The stops at Nottoway Plantation, Natchez, and Vicksburg were very nice and interesting, but the lower Mississippi doesn’t offer a lot of choices. Perhaps Baton Rogue should be considered. The boat glides smoothly along, pushed by its paddle wheel. It’s very relaxing and calming. Would we do it again? Absolutely, but with lower expectations and a mid range cabin. Read Less
