My partner and I are from Birmingham Alabama and this was our first experience sailing with Norwegian. Our cruise was April 8th through April 15th. We arrived in New Orleans on April 7th and stayed at the Sheraton on Canal, just blocks away from the cruise terminal. Service is always good at this property, plus it gave us excellent views of the ship the morning of embarkation. Embarkation: We ...

Went on this, our 6th cruise just to try out NCL and get away for a week. We travel a LOT and took a cruise just to keep from having to pack and unpack constantly. Here's our take on the Sun. Food: Reading prior reviews caused us a little concern about the food quality. HOWEVER, AND THIS IS A BIG HOWEVER, we were very pleasantly surprised. Being native New Orleanians, our taste buds are jaded ...

Background - We were a group 3 families - 6 adults & 7 kids (17,17,16,15,14,14,8) vacationing on our 3rd cruise, but the first on NCL. So, this review will have a little more a family tilt. New Orleans -- We arrived in New Orleans by air on Saturday afternoon and took a taxi ($48) to the Embassy Suites Convention Center. I thought the hotel was clean, in a great location and would stay there ...

We left on our cruise out of New Orleans, which was a joy. We arrived early and were able to get on the ship by 11:30. All of the embarkation went smoothly and very quick. Once we got onto the ship, we met our Room Stewart, Mikle, who was always there when he was needed and seemed to always be working. He took excellent care of us and our accommodations. The balcony room was worth every penny we ...

Norwegian Sun by Georgia (Magnolia Blossom) Western Caribbean March 25, 2007 About us. 54/59 year old semi-retired professiinals. Our 28th cruises, 7th on NCL and 3rd on the Sun. Not terribly fussy, pretty laid back. Embarkation - Port of New Orleans. This was our third sailing from the new facility and each time has been a bit more organized. They seem to finally have their ...

As a first time "mega-ship" cruiser, I found this Cruise Critic website to be very helpful, so want to share what I learned with others as a way of saying "thanks" for all those who wrote before me. In retrospect, the main thing that one needs to work on is expectations. If you come aboard expecting something that isn't there(i.e. the legend of unlimited, top quality gourmet food available ...

Background Information Our cruise was 3/18/07 - 3/25/07. We have cruised 5 times, this was our 2nd on NCL. We went with 4 other couples that we met on a previous NCL cruise. New Orleans We arrived a day early in NO (St Patty's Day). This was awesome. If you want to experience Mardi Gras at a much calmer level, I would recommend going on St Patty's Day. We had a blast - it was not real crowded ...

My husband and I went on this cruise 3/11 - 3/18. This was our 4th cruise, 1st with NCL. We have previously been on Carnival Imagination in 2001, RCCL Grandeur in 2003 and Carnival Miracle in May, 2006. Overall, I would consider this cruise incredibly.... average. This was the first time we have been to the new NOLA terminal and things went very smoothly. We drove in from Alabama on Sunday ...

After sailing on NCL for three prior vacations I have to say that NCL Sun was the best NCL cruise that we have ever been on. My wife and I started the cruise on Sunday in New Orleans and had dinner in the La Bistro so we could see the great sites on our way out of the Mississippi. As for activities at our fun day at sea the crew tried to keep everyone satisfied but as everyone knows not everything ...
