America the mediocre

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Star

A colleague had told me Norweigan sucked, and that it is owned by a rich Chinese family and not by Norway. Turns out, he was right. The food was mediocre to bad. The service stunk. Every time we asked for anything we were ignored, or told, "I don't know, madam." Our room steward routinely forgot to restock towels, creamers, etc and was hard to locate. The shows were.pretty good. The ports were ...

I didn't know what to expect from a cruise having never been on one. It was completely different than what I thought it would be. I'd read how difficult the Port of New Orleans terminal is to navigate and what a problem it is to get to from I-10. It is neither of those things. Read and follow the instructions on the Port of New Orleans website and there are no problems getting to the Julia ...

April 2013- Norwegian Star- Embarkation- Port of New Orleans, LA After around 20 cruises with various cruise lines, we pretty much know what to expect. We didn't like having to park our vehicle in the open lot at the port. My husband needed to take oxygen and a scooter on this trip. The crew members were very attentive during the embarkation process and throughout the cruise. We had an inside ...

The Good - Had a Penthouse that was great. Bagus the Butler great. Everything you want in a cruise, we had. The Bad - My wife is 95% bedridden with R.A. - She left the room to eat and some days that was impossible. We did get off the ship twice but not an easy task and somewhat dangerous for her. Both knees replaced and the R.A. is the worst case I've ever seen. She was very content to order ...

Life changing cruise on the Star!

This review is a little late but as I was planning my next cruise and reading all of the amazing reviews, I realized I never provided one from our Caribbean cruise in April of 2013. My sister and I wanted to go on a cruise for a "girls trip." We were a little apprehensive about a cruise as our only experience before hadn't been so good for either one of us. After reading the reviews, we decided to ...

We stayed in New Orleans 3 days prior to our cruise and I highly recommend this. So much to see, spend time in the French Quarters, go to Brouban Street. You will not be disappointed. We took the trolly to the French Market ( go early to avoid the rush). In the French Market, Prices are high for what you are getting, so buyer beware. Next stop was Jackson Square- a must for all. From there we ...

Awesome Spring Break Cruise with some bumps (literally)

My 5th cruise overall; first with NCL. Booked Penthouse Suite for 3 of us (myself and my two teenage girls). Looking forward to trip for long time... Boarding the ship was a breeze. Showed up about 11am. Had special check in for suites but regular line was quite short too. Getting off ship was just as easy and quick. Booking a suite gets you priority boarding, disembarking, etc which is ...

Pleasantly surprised - Great Value for the Money

We decided to take a March cruise with the family, and the prices for this NCL couldn't be beat. We have sailed NCL before with Holland being our favorite. We came in with low expectations, and NCL exceeded all our expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to cruise the Star again if the price was right. We sailed from Nola and embarkation was a breeze. Our cabin was a pleasant surprise. We had booked ...

This was our 33rd cruise and we were booked in a Penthouse Suite with Butler and Concierge services. Because we are Platinum members on NCL, we received some extra perks which added a great deal to our Cruise experience. We had a private escort to a gathering place upon check-in where we met the Concierge who introduced us to the Butlers and presented us with our Day 1 Freestyle Daily and ...

Our family of 5- 3 teenage boys have cruised previously on other lines. We have cruised princess, carnival and royal Caribbean. We were not sure what to fully expect from freestyle cruising. Some pleasant surprises- our family suite. It was large enough for our family of 5 plus more. The bathroom was very spacious and fit 3 adults easily at the same time. Closet space was ample- plenty ...
