An honest opinion

We are first time cruisers and were traveling with 4 children, ages, 19, 14, 11 & 9. Total in our group was 24 people. Their are pros and cons of this cruise. Let's start with the pros. The food was good but we are easy to please, we especially liked the buffet, it always had a different variety and was better than the Garden and Windows dining. Garden and Windows dining was basically the ...

We had a fantastic time on the Spirit. This was our 3rd time on this ship. Its big enough to have lots to do and small enough to not get lost. We are from Nashville, TN. This was my 30th cruise and my husband's 25th. We drove to New Orleans the night before and spent the evening on Bourbon Street (big ass beers). The evening was quite warm for Jan. Great time! We are platinum status and boy was ...

My husband and I sailed on the NCL Spirit in early May of 2011. This was our first experience with NCL, and I am happy to say it will not be our last. We loved the laid back feel of the ship and the service was excellent throughout our sailing. We sailed from New Orleans and the embarkation process was fast and painless. We arrived at the terminal about 2:00 pm, dropped off our luggage, and ...

Best Cruise EVER!

This is the BEST cruise, the best cruise line and the best ship...The ship is not too big, just the right size, you don't get tired going from one end to the other (as we did quite often). The staff & crew are all GREAT, can't do enough for you. Even the captain is available to talk to if you want...all the department heads are friendly and willing to talk if there's any problem AT ALL!!! ...

I should first mention that while we did look for the best prices during this cruise, we decided to go first class as part of our 21st anniversary celebration. This is not a frugal travel report. We traveled from Chicago to New Orleans by Amtrak's "City of New Orleans", departing at 8pm and arriving the next day (our anniversary) at 3pm. Our compartment was comfy and we enjoyed our cafe car ...

Refurbished? Only thing I noticed was a bigger casino

I have cruised many many times with NCL & I was very disappointed to find that this cruise (a ship I have been on 2 time previously) that was just upgraded was not up to my standards. The food was OK, but I have been used to having more choices and fancier desserts. Also, when we got into our cabin, I noticed that there was a layer of dust behind everything & there was water in the coffee pot. (I ...

This will be a short review ! We flew in early to New Orleans and enjoyed 3 days before sailing. We love travelling on NCL and overall our experience was great. We took several family members this time - just to get out of the cold really. We really didn't care about the ports of call as we had been to them before. Our cabin was a balcony and on the smaller side but still our wonderful room ...

I won't make this long. There are enough other cruise reviews to read. In a nutshell, we LOVED our cruise. I cruised once 20 years ago with my senior class from high school, so I don't count it any longer. This was my boyfriend's first cruise and our first together. I had read everything I could on Cruise Critic before we left, knew what to expect and we had a great GREAT time!! The food was ...

This was my 3rd cruise on NCL and I had a GREAT time! The food was very good, the best I've found on NCL. Even the buffet was good, but not as well organized as on the Pearl. I agree with other recent comments that the food service options on the Spirit in the mid-late afternoon (about the time you are returning from shore excursions) are unfortunately limited. I ate about an equal number of ...

Our first cruise. Dining: The most incredible part of our cruise was the food in the main dining room - Windows. The menu was varied nightly with every entree and appetizer a food connoisseurs delight. These meals would easily go for $100 - $150 head in any restaurant. I cant say enough about this restaurant. We booked meals in 2 other upcharge restaurants on the ship (French and Steak) but ...
