First of all, let me explain the timing of this cruise. It all revolved around when my husband was to bowl in the USBC National Bowling Tournament in Baton Rouge rather than when the weather in the ports we would be visiting would be temperate for the heat weenie I am! Our cruise was from April 1-8, 2012. We arrived in NOLA on Friday evening after leaving Seattle at 7:30am with a change of ...

Just returned from 7 days aboard the Norwegian Spirit to celebrate our 30th birthdays (4 girls from NYC). Our favorite day of the whole trip? The day we disembarked in New Orleans and went to French Quarter Fest. Yup. That about sums up our trip. Some bits and pieces: The good: - The booking process was easy and efficient, although the floorplan of the ship did not indicate that there was a ...

Executive Summary We (my adult daughter and I) were on the last sailing of the Spirit out of New Orleans in 2012. Before you start reading, you should know a little about us and cruising. First, we pick cruises based on the itinerary. Previously, I had cruised with Princess and we both had cruised with RCI. This time, we chose the NCL Spirit because we wanted to go to Belize, Roatan, and Costa ...

NCL Spirit 3/4/12 Cabin 9500, Category BD (balcony) About us - 60'ish semi-retired professionals, not too fussy. Our 41st cruise, 14th on NCL and 2nd on the Spirit. Embarkation: We drove to the pier. Parking is in the "whale lot" which is the outdoor secure lot across the trolley tracks from the pier. There is a place to drop bags if you do not wish to tote them from the parking lot. ...

We were traveling in a group of 12 people ranging in age from 15 to 52. We all are non drinkers, but do like to dance and have a good time. We arrived the day before our embarkation at the Quality Inn and Suites in Gretna, LA. This hotel offered a park and cruise package for 4 people at a cost of $145 tax included. The hotel well served its purpose and provided a good breakfast. Algiers ...

We started out in New Orleans the day before departure for the experience of Bourbon Street and some great food. We were not disapponted. Easy drive to the parking terminal. Long walk to check in; thankfully we had a ride to the doors with our bags! Check in was a breeze! Got to our cabin with our bags by 1:30. We carried on our bags so after dropping them off, we headed to Windows for ...

This was my second cruise on NCL Spirit. Cruised November 2011, March 2012 & just booked another for November 2012. My cruise was booked through Harrahs Casino at Sea program. There were 4 middle aged women in our group in two rooms. We rode Amtrak to New Orleans, which is sooo easy and cheap! Stayed at Harrahs in New Orleans the night before the cruise, great hotel & casino! Embarkation ...

We arrived in New Orleans with friends and family on Mar. 24, traveling as a group of 6 (4 adults and two children aged 9 and 10). Stayed at Omni Royal Orleans and had carriage ride through the French Quarter, visited the Insectarium (creepy fun), and had dinner at Brigtsen's (fabulous). Next day after breakfast at Cafe du Monde had a tour of the outlying swamp with Capt. Chip of Airboat ...

We flew into NOLA on Friday so we could spend a few days exploring New Orleans. We stayed at Harrah's just outside of the French Quarter and enjoyed walking around the FQ. We spent Saturday riding the streetcars, with St. Charles route being our favorite. We ate at Crazy Lobster on the Riverwalk, Deanies in the French Quarter and Besh's Steak House at Harrah's. Embarkation: What a simple ...

My father booked a cruise for all 7 of his children and their spouses. He got us all balcony cabins. Unfortunately not all of us has the same experience. More on that later. Embarkation was quite painless. not overly crowded and no long lines to queue in for more that 30 minutes. I was a little skeptical about the ports of call and my skepticism was well founded From New Orleans we sailed to ...
