Carnival Sensation - Western Caribbean
"We arrived a day early and spent the day walking the French Quarter. We ate lunch at Port O Call on Esplanade. This is a local bar just off Bourbon Street that serves great hamburgers and great drinks! On Saturday..."Read More

My DH and I (mid-thirties) went on our first cruise and our first vacation in quite some time on the Sensation on 10/23. I had done a lot of reading on this, as well as other sites to prepare for it We decided to arrive early and eat lunch on the ship. Parking was a hassle and expensive. No clear instructions on how to proceed in the garage. Tipped several baggage handlers trying to get the ...

This was our first cruise. I had done quite a lot of homework prior so I came prepared. My DH and I decided to cruise for our 10 year anniversary. 12 others joined us. New Orleans: We arrived in NO on Sat. Spent that evening at Margaritaville and then on Bourbon St. What an experience. Even if you just people watch it is a site!!! You can spend a lot of money or you can settle for a $5.00 poboy, ...

Upon entering the ship, a "greeter" hands you a map. No eye contact, no welcome aboard, no direction, just the handing of a map. Therefore, you may want to study your map prior to getting on the ship because they don't really help you in finding your room. The room cabin is clean and spacious. It's definitely more spacious then most cruise lines. However, we wanted the beds separated because it ...

About myself- This is my 4th cruise (all have been with Carnival and have departed from New Orleans). I traveled alone and booked a 1A guarantee and was in R58 (Riviera deck forward, 4th level of ship) for the cruise. Embarkation- I live in Baton Rouge, so the Julia Street terminal is only about 90 minutes away, when you take into account New Orleans traffic. I left Baton Rouge at 9:15 a.m. and ...

This was our first cruise but certainly not our last. We were hooked just hours into the cruise!! What a great first experience. EMBARKATION: The port and Carnival facilities in New Orleans are in bad need of upgrading. Although the process was quick and easy, the building housing Carnival seemed like a cavernous, rundown warehouse. Also, the "ground" crew that corralled everybody into seats ...

My boyfriend and I drove down from Cincinnati to New Orleans on Saturday the 6th of August which was about a 12 hour drive. We are both 23 years old, and this was our first real vacation together so we were both pretty excited. It was our first trip down to New Orleans so we spent the weekend in New Orleans checking out Bourbon Street,of course. Actually, we spent both nights at Pat O'Briens, ...

Just got back from the Sensation (4/18, 5 nt. Calica/Cozumel trip) and I had a wonderful trip!! It was the first cruise for me and my boyfriend and we loved it. I had read many reviews here and was apprehensive about this ship, but I really think cruising is what you make it. We had a great time. This review is sooooooooo long, but I wanted to put it all out there: New Orleans - Through ...

My family and I just returned from our 5 day cruise on the Sensation that went to Costa Maya and Cozumel. It was our 5th cruise and our boys (11 and 13) first. The embarkation went very quickly at the New Orleans Port. The parking deck at the pier is under construction so you have to park off site. We parked at the lot at Tchoupitoulas (don't ask me how to pronounce that one!)We had an oversizes ...

We arrived a day early and spent the day walking the French Quarter. We ate lunch at Port O Call on Esplanade. This is a local bar just off Bourbon Street that serves great hamburgers and great drinks! On Saturday morning, we took a taxi from the Naval Support Activity Base on the West Bank. The round trip fare of $30 was better than parking at the Fulton Street Garage and allowed us to drop off ...

Wednesday - Pre-cruise hotel was the Hilton Garden Inn Conv. Ctr. Worked great for us. Just across from the Fulton Garage. The Valet even drove us to the pier. Some had said they thought the location was a bit worrisome... This is only my second trip to N.O. but in my opinion, anywhere near the pier or the F.Q. if you go 2 blocks in any direction you will find a not so nice area. This was just ...
