Pros and cons

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Carnival Elation

This was my first cruise , and ....It really depends what you want. I am a person who wants to relax and enjoy beach, pool and not to worry . Just calm and quiet family vacations. I came to conclusion that cruise is not for me. But please don't think I had a negative experience. If you want a party style, friendly people, dance, good food and some gambling, this is defiantly for you ( other ...

A decent vacation for the price

This was my third cruise with Carnival and it was OK; a bit above average ... but that is all. We were really needing to get away for a vacation (it had been several years since we had gotten away) so at the point we were at in our lives, anything was a welcome change. The port in New Orleans is an easy-on / easy-off kind of place and the porters really make the difference here. Tip them $1 a bag ...

I found the reviews to be so helpful, prior to my trip. So I decided to pass along my experience on the Carnival Elation. We left out of New Orleans, January 2,2014. The staff at the terminal get a big A++. They are very helpful. I will break down my experience into the following: the ship, the staff, dining, the port, the cabin and the activities on board. THE SHIP: The ship is beautiful. There ...

We had a family reunion on the Elation bringing my two grandchildren, 5 and 8, their parents (30ish), my husband and I, and his two older children (college age). We selected the ship for the value. The boat itself is lovely and in excellent condition. The ports of call were Cozumel (yeh) and Progresso (boo). They would be better to spend 2 days in Cozumel than go to Progresso as it is an awful ...

The boarding process in New Orleans was fast and painless. The staff was efficient, helpful and well organized. Much faster than Miami. Thank You Carnival for that. The ship is beautiful to see. The atrium is amazing and lovely, but there are many things wrong with this ship. 1. Some of the elevators did not work right during the entire five days. One glass elevator was always messed ...

We booked this cruise in order to take my parents, aged 78 and 82, on their first cruise ever. We thought October would be a calm time, free of many children, and we were right. The word for this cruise was CALM! We drove down the night before and stayed at Slidell. Bought some waters and wine at Walmart and got to the port around 11:00. Check in was fairly smooth. This was the first ...

Carnival Elation March 2012 - Loved it

My first time cruise! I was a little concerned after I read some of the reviews. I was not sure what to expect, we were traveling with my 6 month old baby(imagine that) and like I said - first time! Boarding: When we got there, it was about 2:30 pm and we got through the line very quickly. Our cabins were already ready, and it took us about half hour from getting there to being in our room. ...

Felt like I was in a vacuum trying to suck all my money 24/7

I've done several cruises on other lines, and even worked on cruise ships in the past. This was my first time on Carnival. The overwhelming feeling I got from the experience, the thing that overshadows most everything else I experienced, is the impression that from dusk to dawn, I was being constantly solicited to spend more money. Whatever fun I was having at any given time was often ...
