It was an affordable vacation on Spring Break as a family. Navigator of the Seas was a decent ship. It was not that modern. You could tell it was refurbished at some point. The decor was inviting, a little above average. The room was as expected, same decor and size as most ships. The staff was above average. Very efficient, polite, everyone greeted us. Service was very quick and friendly. We were impressed by the service We didnt partake in any excursions so no comments here The entertainment on the ship was pretty good, not mind blowing, but you could tell they made an effort to keep us entertained especially on sea days. One exceptional thing on the ship was the ladies that took care of the youth programs. AMAZING WOMEN. My daughter never wanted to leave. The only part of the cruise that my wife and I were really disappointed was the quality and variety of the food, especially in the Windjammer buffet. Felt more like the Unjammer at times. Food was very mediocre, and the choices were limited. Dining room was ok but the menu needs more choices. I would recommend themed night, like Italian or Mexican, those are always fun Overall, the cruise was average. What you would expect nothing more. Nothing to blow your mind. This was a good cruise for a family vacation, or couple of college kids with little cash who just want a fun week together. Read Less

This was our first cruise and it was great! The ship was very nice even though it was older. There was plenty of things to do to keep you occupied and relaxed. The food was amazing and our cabin, which was a balcony cabin, had plenty of room. Our room attendant was truly amazing and our waiters at our dinner service were so awesome that we requested to be seated in their section every night. We swam with the dolphins at Cozumel, and if you have never done this or are thinking about it, I would highly recommend it. The experience is unbelievable. As we are members with World Wide Travel Experts we booked our cruise and flights through them. With our membership we were able to find and save about $80/ticket on 4 airline tickets and as we did save a little on our cruise. Our larger savings will be on our next vacation with utilizing the points we earned on this one. Read Less

It's my first time boarding Navigator of the Seas with my parents and siblings. I would say our overall experience was incredible. I am usually not a fan of spending my vacation on the sea but this one had been an awesome experience. I will rate my experience in detail: Ship: 4.5/5 The ship is so big and there were so many places in the ship where you can find yourself entertained or relax and have a quiet time. It's well equipped and all decks were maintained clean. As far as the decorations, I am beyond impressed (you will really feel you are in a cruise ship, which was great). Cabin: 5/5 I don't really mind having a studio sized stateroom as long as it is well maintained and clean. I mean sheets, linens, and bath towels were changed in a timely manner. Our stateroom attendant Basille (or Basil) - our stateroom was Deck 8, room 8653 - was excellent and very attentive. He was very thorough with his job and made sure that everything was perfect. As for our bathroom, there were so many spaces where I can put my toiletries and personal items. Closet was big enough to keep our clothing (there were 3 of us in the room) tidy. Lighting were excellent, just what I needed in a room. Room temperature was perfect. TV was okay (I have watched shows that I liked, but most of the time I am not really in my room so that's okay) Dining: 4.5/5 VERY EXCELLENT!!! > Windjammer: OMG, lots of food choices although I felt that breakfast was kind of repeated every day. Food was still delicious and hot (for hot foods). I just hope there were more options for fruit juices. Rate: 4/5 > Café Promenade: Best place for snacking 24 hours (well the only place that is open for 24 hours). Their pizza were delicious and freshly made. Service was very fast and they usually let you know how long it will take for the food to be ready. Again, I just wished there were more options for fruit juices. Rate: 4.5/5 > Sapphire Dining: THE BEST PLACE/SERVICE WE'VE EVER GOT. Our waiter Jackson and waiter's assistant Luciana were the best. They provided us excellent food service and great enthusiasm. They have great personality, were very cheerful, and were pretty much COOL! The manager along with Jackson and Luciana welcomed us with a huge smile on their faces. They also made sure that our experience was excellent with great satisfaction. Food was definitely delicious. WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR TIME HERE! Also, we got extra food since the manager prepared specialty food plus extra desserts on our second night at this dining room. THANK YOU SOO MUCH! You are 5/5 or 10/10 :) Entertainment/Activities: 5/5 There were so many activities to choose from (i.e. games, shows, fitness exercises, sports tournament, rock climbing, etc). Some of the things I wanted to do were scheduled at the same time so I had to choose which ones I would enjoy the most. However, those activities you were not able to do on the other day, they were offered in different days as well so you have the option to do them. Live music, dancing, parades, movies, shows were excellent (can't complain about it). Overall great experience. Service: I have mentioned earlier that we received excellent service so that's a 5/5 Ports and Shore excursions: I LOVE THEM ALL! Rating 5/5 in Costa Maya (Chacchoben and beach tour) with Israel (sales - excellent and he accommodated us well, customer service was excellent, and very friendly), Joel (our tour guide - very informative and I learned so much from him; he's great), and Guillermo (tour driver - very good, made sure our trip was smooth and on timely manner). Rating 4/5 in Cozumel for Snorkelling (I think I'm not a fun of snorkelling for long periods of time especially the waves were strong, but experience was still good). I would recommend Navigator of the Seas for family, friends, or couples cruise experience. It's worth it! Read Less

I booked this cruise back in June 2017 for sailing in January 2018. I found a great deal on the Royal Caribbean website and told my friends. It was a 48 hour sale and a bunch of us ended up booking the cruise, in total it was 19 adults and 6 kids. This was my first experience on Royal Caribbean. In the past 13 months, I travelled on Holland America and Silversea with my father. I'm in my early 30s, single and not married. I planned to share an interior cabin with my roommate. About a month later, another friend asked to share our room and we switched to an interior room with pullmans. We live in South Florida, about an hour away from the Port of Miami. We left our house around 10:30am on embarkation day and arrived about 11:30am. We dropped our bags off with the porters and 4 of us waited at the terminal, while 2 people parked the car in the cruise parking garage. We previously discussed parking offsite but decided that we would just split the cost of parking and enjoy the convenience of parking at the port. It took about 10 minutes for us all to meet up again to enter the terminal. We entered the terminal about 11:45am. We had to show our SetSail passes and passports to enter. Then we went through security where they checked our carryons, there were no lines to enter or security. Then we proceeded to check in. We went to the Gold line since we had previous cruisers. There were about 3 groups ahead of us in line, be we got to an agent within 5 minutes. Some of our friends we saw outside the terminal went to the regular line. It took them about 20 minutes. We all boarded the ship together and went straight to the Windjammer. It was about 12:15pm. One of my friends went directly to the fitness center. Although busy, we were able to find a table for 6. As we finished lunch, they made an announcement that the staterooms were now available. That was about only a couple of minutes before 1pm. We went to the cabin and found it pretty roomy despite it being an interior cabin for 3 adults with suitcases. I knew I needed to lower my standards since my last couple cruises were in suites with rooms more than double the size. We all found the rooms to be quite adequate in terms of storage space and size, but we spent very little time in the rooms during the day. I will say that the WORST part of the cruise was the MATTRESS. It wasn't just a little uncomfortable. It was the worst that ever slept on. It was actually painful to rest on my side. I started to sleep on top of the comforter and it helped slightly. The ship itself appears to be in good condition. I enjoyed most of the bars and venues on board. I did not spend much time on the pool deck because it was windy and chilly, which is not uncommon for this time of year. Plus I'm from Florida so I didn't feel the need to go to the pool. The hot tubs were very crowded though because the pools were cold. Also, I felt that the ship never seemed too crowded. There also weren't tons of kids since winter break was over. I really enjoyed the activities director, Daniel, and activities staff member Carlos. They were both hilarious. I went to both adult comedy shows and The Quest. I found them to be entertaining. The Disco Inferno was awesome. You have to get to trivia very early since it is held in the Schooner bar and it's not very big. Tables fill up 15 minutes before. The food wasn't amazing in the Main Dining Room and especially the Windjammer. I enjoyed my meals in the MDR, but I only went to Windjammer for breakfast if possible. I went to lunch a couple times and was not impressed. I did make myself a nice cheese plate before dinner. The best dining venue is Sabor. The margaritas are included in the deluxe package and were fabulous. I had 3 at dinner! We had 10 people at dinner in Sabor and they brought us out everything on the menu to sample. I also had sushi at Izumi that was very good and did the sushi making class. It was worth the money since you got a lot of sushi for your money. Brasserie 30 in the MDR on sea days is the best spot for lunch! The service is great! I really enjoyed our room attendant and waiter in the MDR. The bartenders were all excellent too. It was so easy to get a drink all of the time. We got our drink package for $41/day plus 18% gratuity about 3 months in advance during a sale in cruise planner. It was worth the money!! Our cruise went to Costa Maya and Cozumel. We did not prebook any excursions. My friends did the adventure park in Costa Maya. There are a bunch of places to book excursions when you get off the ship. I walked around the port area. I was disappointed with the "tex-mex" food options, since I wanted authentic food. There isn't anywhere else to go besides the port. It was fun to walk around and explore. Our ship was the only one in port. In Cozumel, we walked off and rented a 15 passenger van from Hertz (note that the cars are manual shift). It cost about $200. We drove to the San Gervasio Mayan ruins. It was a 30 minute drive on very well paved roads. It cost $9.50 to see the ruins. We drove around the island a bit before going back to the ship. Our friends had kids and they were in Adventure Ocean during the evenings. We had the 8pm MDR dinner. The ones that were 5 and younger usually ate in the Windjammer and then went to Adventure Ocean and one went to the Nursery (23 months). The kids ages 6-9 ate dinner in the MDR and one of their parents would drop them off at Adventure Ocean and come back. They ordered the kids' meals as soon as we sat down and they usually came by the time we had appetizers. They nursery closes at 12AM, but time has to be reserved in advance. Only one time they had to pick up at 11pm, but they were able to get time each evening. Adventure Ocean has babysitting from 10pm-2am. They were usually asking to go to Adventure Ocean so they didn't have to sit with us through dinner. There aren't many, if any, activities for children in the evening except in Adventure Ocean. I also got a spa service when we were in Costa Maya. I did the special for $129 for 75 minutes which included a 50 minute Swedish back massage, facial, back exfoliation, and scalp massage. The specials are only advertised on port days in the daily compass. I would go again, but I would read reviews about the beds for the ship. I enjoyed everything else about the cruise. I would also skip the Windjammer for all lunches since I really didn't like it. It's perfectly fine for breakfast though. Read Less

This was my first trip with Royal Caribbean, after more than a dozen cruises with Cunard, Carnival and NCL. I didn't have unreal high expectations however, after this experience, I wonder why is it that RCI is considered a higher standard in cruising? My first negative impression came from staff members, whom I suspect are underpaid and in less than decent conditions on the boat (they can't all be moody!). Most of them have questionable attitudes, as if they cannot be bothered. I am not one of those annoying, obnoxious, demanding customers, actually I have compassion and respect for workers, especially since I worked with Cunard myself. Our deluxe balcony cabin lacked bathroom supplies (no tissues, shampoo, or even bags for garbage) and seemed outdated, there was mold in the shower and in the toilet, yucks. Beds were hard and there were no individual controls for lights, which were either blinding or left us in the dark. Internet service package...I might as well not have wasted my money! Was expecting a work contract and needed to have email available, but was unable to refresh, let alone do anything online. Entertainment was mediocre at best, however I didn't expect super talent aboard a boat. What surprised me the most was the very, very poor quality of the food. Windjammer was distracting due to the buffet nature and variety...but their main dining room, Saphire, omg, every dish looked and tasted like a $3 dollar microwave meal. Don't know if I would give RCI another shot, would have to read reviews. For now, as far as big cruise liners, I believe NCL is a much better choice. This was like Carnival, with less desperate feeders and a higher quality crowd, but overly stuffed the same. Did I mention we waited 3 hours for disembarkation? Read Less

I had a wonderful time on Navigator of the Seas, it has been a few years since I sailed on her so it was nice to return. Embarkation was very smooth and very easy at Southampton as always. My cabin was 6209 an inside but kept very clean and tidy by Imade Muliana as all stateroom attendants he worked hard. All staff were amazing and all seemed happy and again worked hard. Kristina in the Schooner Romeo and Joel in the Cosmo lounge deck 14 Edward and Elvis in Vintages again all nice and kind thanks guys. Food everywhere on Navigator was very good I took advantage of eating in Chops for the first two nights. Chops as always never seems to change to me always a great dining choice. The main dining room food was again really good for Breakfast, Lunch (sea days) and Evening Meal, Wellington and Luyao worked very hard in the evenings. The Windjammer had a great variety of food and was very good, service in there was also good. Park Café offered some lovely snacks if you had room for them. The Diamond lounge had the usual Breakfast fair and evening snacks all were very nice and tasty. As always I never get to go to the main theatre but other entertainment was very good. Clo was great and did an amazing job keeping everyone entertained. Service throught I thought was excellent and the ship was kept very clean and tidy. I went to my first Cruise Critic meet and mingle hosted again by Clo it was really good. Also the itinerary was great I enjoyed every port of call but it was so nice to return to Vigo a lovely town I think. Read Less

The destinations were what we were wanted to visit. Having already cruised with this company on the Adventure and Explorer of the Seas we were happy with the standard. They all carry approximately 3k passengers and there is plenty of room in the various areas of the ship, although when the weather is inclement seats are at a premium. Entertainment is good as well as all the staff, especially in the restaurants and bars. They all work very hard, long, hours and are very appreciative of praise when given. Food is of a very good standard and very plentiful; you can always ask for more if you feel unfulfilled. It is worth taking out the premium drinks package if you enjoy a few glasses of wine and spirits per day. Otherwise you have to pay for all drinks, even bottled water, and they are expensive. We opted to not pay gratuities up front and spoke with customer services once we were on board to make sure we were not charged the daily charge. We chose to show our appreciation of service personally to those who deserved it over a god spread of staff. Read Less

The captain was boring and his information lacklustre..e.g. Told us about the whales after the event. No effort to repair tv service excuse was difficult to get signal..if so ask other ships how they do it ! The crew seemed tired and were disinterested.There was no attempt to enforce dress code..so why bother having it ? Ai the first port of call..Boston the immigration officers were late and had no it equipment.there seems to have been no liaison with crew,and officers hid and were not seen.some people missed tours. The entertainment was of a poor standard.a couple of acts were passable but only had a couple of performances..the ship was transatlantic..where did they go ? I wouldn't travel on that ship again.RC are concentrating on their Stella ships and the rest Are just left to their own devices. Read Less

I have been on the sister ship Splendor and now this one...the design is to turn everything inwards to a four story strip mall where everyone congregates because its too cold or wet or both to be on deck. This makes the ship seem very crowded as normally nearly half the passengers would be outside. This makes the Windjammer buffet crowed as people don't want to leave because there is no place to go. My stateroom was beginning to look worn....something was wrong with the water line to the toilets and all this black stuff stained the inside of the toilet and looked dreadful...the T.V. was limited with the same two or three films endlessly repeating and then they would show them in the theatre...how much is a DVD? I've done this crossing twice before on Celebrity and they have an indoor pool...big help...land robes in all the staterooms so you don't freeze getting out of the hot tub...no such luck on Royal. The specialty restaurants on Navigator were fantastic....and the 5 specialty restaurant deal is great value....I would not recommend the Mexican but all the others were fantastic... If you want to stay connected at sea this is the MOST EXPENSIVE program ever. $13. for 24 consecutive hours....Even if your only on line for half an hour....you pay for 24 every day. If you want to check in on line for your flight .... you must buy 24 hours of time even if your only on like 15 minutes...Everyone was angry because you couldn't sign out and save and save your time. On Celebrity for 14 nights I think I payed a flat rate of $75. for the entire trip. YOU MUST GO THROUGH IMMIGRATION at Boston...You stand in a line that is the entire length of the ship and then turns back a third of the way....from joining the line to seeing the officer is THREE HOURS of standing on concrete...even elderly people in their 80 were half dead in this line. You think its not the cruise ships fault well...partly because historically Canadians always go through the U.S. customs line but NOT on Celebrity or Royal (same cruise line) Canadians go through with Europeans who have to have visa's and forms which Canadians don't require but you can't tell Celebrity or Royal that...they keep telling you to go on line and get a visa which you can't get because there is no Canada in the drop down. Royal could have helped by putting the immigration forms in our stateroom the night before but NO...we were given the while standing in line without a pen and when you borrowed you were trying to fill out a floppy form standing up...the people tasked with giving out the forms (White or Green) didn't bother to read who they were for and so had no clue as to who needed which form. I was given white and after three hours lining up and my ankles swollen twice the size...the office looked at my passport and said "Your Canadian" and he threw the form away and stamped my passport...Meantime several officers assigned for Americans sat doing nothing because half the Americans didn't turn up...if they had....then those officers could have switched over to the thousands of people in the line...RULE - all Americans MUST go through Immigration between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. or they will have to line up with the rest of the passengers....I bet that will get them out of the coffee shop. We had cold weather and lots of rain...so we ate too much....the stage shows were O.K. but as usual it is a competition to see who can scream into the mike the loudest and the majority of music was TODAY POP and the passengers were 55 plus and getting up walking out. At least it wasn't as loud as Celebrity which has a deafening sound system even with both my hearing aids out it was too loud. If your doing the transatlantic in Nov. choose a ship with an indoor pool so there more room to spread out...also the Celebrity buffet is far better. I only used the Navigator dining room for one breakfast and my lightly poached eggs were cooked solid and cold. So after that it was the buffet where the eggs were made for you but the bacon was good bacon but overcooked and dripping in grease... Because of immigration I don't think I will do this next year...I'm 78 and very arthritic and my ankles were so swollen I couldn't even go ashore...not that there was any time...I got out of the line at 1 p.m. and we had to be back on board by 3:30 p.m. so what's the point even if I could walk....too little time to do anything in the shops or Quincy Square. This ship needs some renovation and a T.V. plan like Celebrity and they have got to apply themselves to fixing the immigration in Boston problem. Read Less

This was a first trans atlantic cruise and particularly wanted to do New York. The cruise was excellent just a few things that let it down. Firstly not enough evening entertainment on the fabulous promenade, the Boston stop should be looked at as it was so disappointing we did not get of the ship until just before 2 pm and had to be back on board by 4.30pm even though they knew the ship would not sail until after 7.30 as a lot of the tours were running late. This stop should be an overnight to allow for the lengthy customs procedure that way people would get a chance to experience this beautiful city. The food although presented nicely was very bland and tasteless even in the speciality restaurants the only one I would say was a speciality was Givonnis were food was excellent. Other than that the cruise was excellent and the service was exceptional I am putting the food and entertainment problem being because it was a re-positioning cruise as on my previous RCI cruise food was excellent. The biggest disappointment was Boston not getting to see it properly and to add insult to injury to find an apology by the way of 2 free drinks vouchers when I was already fully inclusive does not smack of a personal service. So hopefully RCI will look at the Boston part of the trip and re-think it or at least advertise it as a customs stop with possibility of getting of ship for a few hours. My highlight was sailing in to New York and then finding we were docked on the bottom of 50th Street which was a 15 minute walk to Times Square RCI definitely got that one right. Read Less
