The destinations were what we were wanted to visit. Having already cruised with this company on the Adventure and Explorer of the Seas we were happy with the standard. They all carry approximately 3k passengers and there is plenty of room in the various areas of the ship, although when the weather is inclement seats are at a premium. Entertainment is good as well as all the staff, especially in the restaurants and bars. They all work very hard, long, hours and are very appreciative of praise when given. Food is of a very good standard and very plentiful; you can always ask for more if you feel unfulfilled. It is worth taking out the premium drinks package if you enjoy a few glasses of wine and spirits per day. Otherwise you have to pay for all drinks, even bottled water, and they are expensive. We opted to not pay gratuities up front and spoke with customer services once we were on board to make sure we were not charged the daily charge. We chose to show our appreciation of service personally to those who deserved it over a god spread of staff. Read Less

I like the Voyager class of ships, so I enjoyed the Navigator. But cuts backs are obvious in food, entertainment and activities. Enjoyed the days at sea just wish there had been more to do. I really miss the professional crafters. The crafts provided by Royal Caribbean are the same old things that they have been doing for years. I don't think that the kits are worth the price. The quality of service on the Navigator was excellent. The crew was very friendly. Enjoyed the Diamond lounge and happy hours. The bar tenders were very attentive and hard working. The dining room staff were very good and even supplied the table with Indian food to share upon request. Had a problem with the excursion desk but all was resolved by the Assistant Manager. I enjoyed all of the ports except Ponta Delgada. There is not much to do there once you have done all the excursions that you are interested in. I have been there too many times. Other ports in the area are more interesting and wish this one would be dropped by Royal Caribbean. I did walk through town and visited the market. I used the time in port to do my gift shopping. As a solo traveler I appreciated the fact that we met for lunch on all the sea days. In the past we did not meet on all the sea days. I wish our crew member who escorted us had stayed for lunch. In the past when they stayed lunch was more interesting because we got an insight into the crew's life on the ship. I am loyal to Royal Caribbean and will continue to sail with them. Less Read Less

This was our 7th cruise, previously cruising with P&O & Thomson's. My friend is wheelchair bound & we used a manual wheelchair. I will try & write this mainly from her perspective as a disabled cruiser. Embarkation was very easy, although I do now wish I'd accepted the offer of help pushing her w/chair as the ramp to the ship was quite steep. That was my choice. We had to wait until 1.30pm before cabins were ready to enter but that was no hardship as we were busy looking around the ship. Suitcases were left in the hallways, not always easy to get a w/chair past them and although 2 of the cases were outside our cabin I had to go searching for the 3rd. I was not alone, a number of guests had to search for their cases. We had an accessible inside cabin on the 9th deck, very roomy although we did need to ask for more clothes hangers! Moving around the ship was very easy, flooring allowed easy pushing & there were more than enough lifts so that we rarely had to wait for one. Disappointed with the shops on the Royal Promenade which we found to be small and pricey. Remember the prices are all in $ so we kept having to work out the sterling equivalent. On there is also the Two Poets Pub (always busy in evening) and the Café (also busy) which serves snacks 24hrs a day. We used to go there around 5.00pm for a coffee and watched the world go by (well passengers). Entertainment was fine in the evening, we went to a few nights in the Theatre expecting not much and ended up really enjoying ourselves! ( we did get there 45 minutes before shows to ensure seating for myself next to the w/chair). There was also the Start Lounge with alternative entertainment such a quizzes and music and a number of other smaller venues with music. We were disappointed with the day activities , especially when at sea as you either had to be active( rock climbing wall, flowrider etc) or interested in the Spas pricey offers. We spent a lot of time walking around the ship, 30 minutes at a quiz, watched the people on the flow rider etc....nothing that kept us interested apart from people watching! LOL Drinks were very expensive, especially as they add a further 18% surcharge even if you have already paid tips. We usually only have a couple of drinks so a package was not worth it. We normally dined in the Windjammer as my friend prefers self service rather than being waited on. The maitre'd always helped us to find a table, although in the morning this was usually in the Italian restaurant which meant a fair amount of walking for me to get the food! Food was average, nothing to write home about and sometimes not as hot as we would have liked. We did not go to any of the speciality restaurants as there was an extra charge of around £25 each and did not use the free Sapphire restaurant due to my friends preference. Disembarkation at ports was very easy with low gangways and onsite assistance. No waiting around at all, very impressed. Ports on this cruise (Oct 1-15) mainly had long promenades to walk down, w/chair accessible shuttle buses were limited. Only a couple of tours we could have gone on but choose not to deciding in Lisbon to get a taxi to sightsee. We spent over 3 hrs driving around the city with Paulo, to places a coach could not have got too for 70 euros in total. He insisted on getting out with us and pushed the chair which was a welcome break for me and meant that we saw far more than either of us could have imagined. Southampton disembarkation...a mess for wheelchair users and people needing assistance. We were told to wait in the Star Lounge 15 minutes before our disembarkation time, and found it standing room only! In other words it was packed by people who had been waiting, for some almost an hour. There was no one in charge, passengers were arriving and as soon as a crew member arrived was grabbed to help by the nearest person even if they had only just arrived themselves. A better system needs to be put in place. I chose after 15 minutes wait and only seeing one crew member to disembark myself, which wasn't easy once we got to the suitcases lounge as I needed to push both the chair and them but somehow did manage. Royal Caribbean please look into this, even I could arrange a better system and not involving more staff! Read Less

On this ship I was very disappointed in the Casino staff and their uncaring attitude. The Casino is a designated smoking area on the ship and was used as one by those who did not use the machines or tables. I like the tables but could not stand very long in that area due to the smoke. So smokers had a choice but I did not matter as a non smoker. There are open decks on the ship. Surely smoking in these areas is enough for health reasons of their non smoking customers. The staff in the Casino were miserable and the manager when approached about the numbers that had come up on the display on the roulette wheel had not been added for ages, he said that this fault had been their for months. I relied on the history on the roulette wheel for my decision to choose a number. He was not helpful in this matter. A party of 6 booked at the same time 12 months earlier to be together in the Saphire dining area only to find four of us accomdated only with two strangers joining our table at one day's notice after wanting a 6.00pm slot instead of the 8.00pm slot they had originally booked on. Because I complained that my sister and brother in law should have joined us they did accomdate us all the next day but sent chocolate to the stranger for her inconvenience. It turned out she had done 13 cruises and we had only done two so we did not count. Spoilt the cruise for us all in different ways. Probably will not go with Royal carribean again. The smoking was a major factor. Read Less

What has happened to RCI.The service has dropped tremendously. We are diamond plus members and never experienced a cruise like this. First I,ll tell you the good points. Sapphire dining room good as usual, our cabin boy excellent.,,but what has happened to the very well trained and experienced wine waiters, there were none. The wine waiter is now the assistant waiter at the dining table who also works in Windjammers.I do hope that this is just a one off cruise it would be a shame to cut out their expertise...Our asst waiter girl was very nice but like all the others didn't, really understand wines. . Now for the service in bars.. Our favourite bars are Schooners and Star room. Schooners on several nights we had to wait over fifteen minutes for a drink . It got to a stage where the bar attendents would say who,s next. Now a good barman should never have to say that. They should know. (This has never happened before). The pianist in there is very good and talented hence that is why it was always packed... But the service nil points. Now Starlight room , a quite large room with a good group Horizon, Only two waiters either side of the room,so of course it was manic at the bar, guests had to go to the bar to order drinks, not enough staff, At one point we waited twenty five minutes.. I am wondering if this has turned into a training ship, there certainly is a lot of cutbacks. ..... Most of the ports we visited had only one gangway(never known this before) and the port of Gijong was the worse, it took twenty five minutes to just get off the gangway because of the queue, coming back was worse, had to wait in another long queue for the shuttle bus and eventually when we got back to port, four buses full of guests had to stay put, nobody could get off the buses for a while because the queue was too long to get on the one gangway.. It took us over two hours......it was queueing where ever you went, although they did manage to put two gangways at Vigo port.. Still had to queue.. I hope because of RCI new ship Harmony that all the best of crew members haven,t gone to it. Although I have to say all these facts I still like RCI best of all I only hope they can sort things out because it's such a shame if they have to cut costs... One more thing what's happened to the fresh flowers what greeted you in the cabin..That has stopped too. Please put these things right and put RCI right back up where it shoul be Read Less
