Many previous reviews have been extremely negative and in some cases completely unfair, however each passenger has a different experience or point of view. Thankfully I have come off the ship having had a fantastic weeks cruise in Norway. Firstly this was a very different cruise to a 14 night Med cruise so no sun bed issues (we were not blessed with sunshine) and the clientele probably differ to the sun seekers. My biggest concern was the complaints of badly behaved kids but I think there were a lot less kids on this cruise and I witnessed no bad behavior at all. The other big complaint is that the ship is run down but to be honest I disagree. I first sailed the Navigator in 2007 and it’s just as nice now as it was then. Check in was quick and smooth and we were on the ship by midday. I was expecting a bit of madness in the Windjammer that day and that’s exactly what I got, however we managed to get a table fairly quickly and was able to escape to the cabin at 1330hrs. Our cabin was one of the new additional balcony cabins on deck 12 and was everything I expected. The bed was comfy, had a nice size balcony and was spotlessly clean. Location was great for the Solarium, spa, pool area, gym and bar. I do have a few negatives though. On the first night we had high wind and were woken about 3am to the clanging of sunbeds being tossed around above us. Quick stop at the guest relations desk the next morning and they had them piled up and secured by that afternoon. Very impressed by the speedy action!! The other problem was the plumbing, on three occasions the flush stopped working and one morning we had yellow water coming out of the taps and shower… lovely! Also walls are paper thin, so I got to know the people either side of us better than I would have liked! Food was generally very good and we mainly used the MDR for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service was always excellent. Also great selection of items in the Café Promenade including lots of pic nic type goodies like scotch eggs and pork pies, obviously put on for us Brits! Entertainment was mostly excellent. Loved the Michael Bouble tribute and Classical Graffiti but the others were not as good (but not bad either). Missed the 70s party on the Royal Promenade but the Brit pop one was fun. We loved doing there various quizzes in the Star Lounge and Scooner.. great fun!! Ice show was AMAZING and much better than the show on the Allure last year. Overall it was a fantastic week and the crew on this ship really work damn hard. I never encountered rude staff, bad food or a tired ship. I would sail the Navigator anyday! Tips – 1) Take your own shower gel/shampoo and hand wash. RCL give you the absolute basics. 2) Kettles and teabags are provided in the room but if you like coffee take a small jar of instant. Apparently the free coffee on board is vile. Thankfully I don’t touch the stuff. 3) Avoid the Windjammer on sea days and stick to the MDR for breakfast or lunch. 4) DO NOT purchase RCL excursion’s. A little research and pre planning will save you £££. We got our fingers burnt last year on the Allure ! Read Less

Always wanted to see the Norwegian fjords & we hoped by going in August (albeit late August) we would have decent weather. We had been to the Sounds in NZ on a stunning day in March on Radiance, so were hoping our luck would hold for Norway. But it didnt, it was grey & moist most of the time. But we still had a great time! Our cabin as at the very front of the ship, under the brdge, so we had the same view as the captain, very good! First time we've not had a balcony cabin, we didn't really miss it as the weather wasn't good enough to sit out, but the room was rather stuffy & we were glad we took an air freshener along. The ship was fine, food was good, staff were great. We didn't feel the need to eat in the upgraded restaurants as the MDR was excellent. No issues at all, except not enough seats in the Schooner Bar for the ever popular quizzes. The ice show was brilliant, first time we've seen something like this on the high seas. Fanastic energy. Only went to a couple of shows as odd timings didn't always fit in with our enjoyment of dinner, but the Michael Buble tribute act was good. We had the drinks package included in our booking, the wines were very basic so my husband upgraded his to get a better choice. I cant say it would be worth buying the package if it was not offered as a freebie, Had to take ships xcursion on Flam railway as RCC had bought up all the tickets! It was so overpriced, compared to a train ticket from the station or train website! It only included as an extra a cold waffle with jam & cream plus a lukewarm coffee in a very poor quality run diwn hotel with ONLY1 toilet for ALL the passengers from the excursion...awful! Read Less
